🇷🇺🇵🇸Opening remarks by President of Russia Vladimir Putin during his talks with President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas(January 22, 2026, Moscow) 💬Vladimir Putin: Relations between Russia and Palestine have deep roots and are distinguished by their special nature and quality. Back in 1988, the Soviet Union recognized the Palestinian state, and we continue to adhere to this position today. Our approach to the Palestinian question and to the Middle East settlement is principled and non-conjunctural. ❗️ We proceed from the understanding that only the establishment and full-fledged functioning of a Palestinian State can lead to a final settlement of the Middle East conflict. We recall your visit last year to attend the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, and we are grateful to you for taking part. I would like to note that our relations are developing today despite all the difficulties associated with the situation in the region. Of course, in absolute terms, our trade turnover remains modest so far, but the upward trend is evident – trade has increased threefold. We continue cooperation in the humanitarian sphere as well, including the training of personnel for Palestine. This year, 150 young Palestinians are studying – and will continue to study – at Russian universities and other educational institutions. Naturally, security issues are among the most important topics. You know that during the most difficult periods of the crisis in Gaza, we provided humanitarian assistance – and did so primarily at your request. Over 800 tonnes of cargo were delivered to the Gaza Strip, around 32 humanitarian operations were carried out, wheat was supplied both directly and through international organizations, again at your request. Of course, today we will also discuss the current situation in the Gaza Strip, in Palestine as a whole, and along the Israeli-Palestinian track. We will also address the initiative of the US President concerning the creation of a new structure which, judging by what we see, is primarily aimed at settling the situation in Palestine and the Gaza Strip. You may have heard that we are prepared to allocate $1 billion to this new structure – the “Board of Peace” – first and foremost to support the Palestinian people, to channel these funds into the reconstruction of Gaza and, more broadly, into addressing Palestine’s problems. As I have already said, these funds would come from assets frozen in the US under the previous administration. I believe this is quite feasible. We have discussed such options before with representatives of the US administration, a meeting and discussion on this matter are scheduled to take place in Moscow today. 🤝 In any case, we are very pleased that our contacts with you continue. #RussiaHelps 🇷🇺🇱🇧 Russia's EMERCOM continues to render humanitarian assistance to the people of Lebanon, delivers a third batch of aid, 24 tonnes of: 📦 Child nutrition and food; 📦 Basic necessities; 📦 Medical supplies. This is the third humanitarian delivery to Lebanon by a special flight of Russia's EMERCOM.

🇷🇺Ministry of Civil Defence, Emergencies and Disaster Relief of the Russian Federation: ⚡️ Russia's EMERCOM dispatches two aircraft carrying rescue personnel to the Republic of Myanmar to assist in earthquake recovery efforts. By order of Russian President Vladimir Putin and under the instructions of Emergencies Minister Alexander Kurenkov, a contingent of Russian rescue specialists departed from Zhukovsky Airport for Myanmar. The unit, comprising 120 specialists from the Ministry’s airmobile detachment, Tsentrospas, and the Leader special risk rescue centre. The team also includes K9 search units, anesthesiologists, and psychologists. 👩‍🚒 Russian emergency responders possess extensive expertise in responding to natural disasters, including major earthquakes. ⚡️ Russia's EMERCOM delivers yet another batch of humanitarian aid to those in need in the Gaza Strip. Aboard the latest plane were 30 tonnes of food supplies and personal care products. The aid was handed over to the Egyptian Red Crescent Society, which will deliver it to the people in the conflict zone. In total Russia has already shared 190 tonnes of humanitarian aid. The humanitarian assistance is organised on the instructions of Russia's President Vladimir Putin. The aid was delivered to the territory of the Arab Republic of Egypt and handed over to representatives of the Egyptian Red Crescent Society. Russian Embassy continues to provide humanitarian aid to the residents of the Kingdom affected by the border conflict. On January 23, H.E. Mr Anatoly Borovik, Ambassador of Russia, and diplomatic mission staff visited the Cambodian Red Cross, and handed over essential commodities, including household chemicals and personal-care products, to H.E. On December 23, H.E. Mr Anatoly Borovik, Russian Ambassador, led the delegation of the diplomatic mission to the Cambodian Red Cross (CRC), where he met with H.E. Ms Pum Chantini, Secretary General of the organization, who briefed about the humanitarian situation in connection with the escalation of the conflict with Thailand. On behalf of the Embassy, H.E. Mr Anatoly Borovik donated 2 tons of rice, 1,375 packs of noodles, 75 liters of sunflower oil, 75 liters of fish sauce, 54 liters of soy sauce, and 1,200 liters of bottled drinking water as aid to the Cambodian residents forced to leave their homes. #RussiaCambodia#RussiaHelps
