👉 A press conference in Moscow highlightedthe achievements and future plans of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa of the Russian Orthodox Church. The event was part of a pilgrimage by clergy from the North and South African dioceses, held from 21 to 29 August, 2025. “If someone had mentioned the Russian Orthodox Church in Africa ten years ago, most people wouldn’t have associated it with anything,” said Metropolitan Konstantin, Patriarchal Exarch of Africa. “Today, we are present in 36 African countries, with clergy and communities in 25 of them.” In just three years, the Exarchate has expanded from 4 to 36 countries. It now includes over 270 clergy and more than 330 parishes and communities. One of the key missions of the Russian Orthodox Church in Africa is pastoral and social outreach, especially to orphans. A new school in the Central African Republic, opened in 2022, now educates 120 children in four languages – Sangho, French, English, and Russian. “Our mission is not about confrontation, but about building a peaceful church life with love and respect for local cultures,” said Metropolitan Konstantin, Patriarchal Exarch of Africa. 👋The Russian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Midrand, South Africa, welcomes all – Orthodox believers and guests alike.
