🚀 On April 10, ahead of Cosmonautics Day, representatives of the Consulate General of the Russia in Cape Town laid flowers at the bust of Yuri Gagarin, installed on the territory of the South African National Space Agency (SANSA) in Hermanus (Western Cape). This monument is included in the register of the interactive project of the Russian Military Historical Society. The flower-laying ceremony was also attended by representatives of the Association of Russian Compatriots in South Africa and employees of SANSA. ⭐️ This year marks the 65th anniversary of the first human spaceflight, a historic event that forever changed the course of world science and ushered in a new era in the exploration of the universe. Consul General of the Russian Federation R.Golubovskiy noted that Yuri Gagarin’s feat remains a symbol of courage, scientific progress and humanity’s striving for new horizons. He stressed the special importance of preserving historical memory and passing on these values to the younger generation and also noted that cooperation between Russia and the Republic of South Africa in the space sector continues to develop, strengthening bilateral ties and contributing to the implementation of joint scientific and technological projects. SANSA employees also conducted a tour of the space agency’s territory. The training suit of Svetlana Savitskaya, the world’s first female cosmonaut who went into outer space, deserves special attention!
