🎙Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's remarks at the 46th meeting of the Council of Heads of Constituent Entities of the Russian Federation under the Russian Foreign Ministry on interregional cooperation with African countries(April 8, 2026, Moscow)
💬 Russia and Africa are bound by long-standing and close ties.
Today, the countries of the continent are striving to finally overcome the remnants of colonial dependence and to strengthen their national sovereignty, above all in the economic and financial spheres.
Those who describe the current period as Africa’s “second awakening” after the decolonisation of the 1960s are right. It was then that political independence was proclaimed, above all thanks to the decisive role of the Soviet Union, which promoted the relevant declarations at the UN.
☝️Recent years have shown that neo-colonial dependence has by no means disappeared. Economically and financially, in terms of control over trade routes and financial flows, Africa still does not enjoy full independence and continues, in economic terms, to serve as a source of raw materials.
👉The lion’s share of added value is still generated elsewhere – to a large extent, and decisively so, in the former metropolitan powers.
African partners spoke about this more than once at the two Russia-African Union summits held in Sochi in 2019 and in St Petersburg in 2023. The decisions adopted at those summits should serve as guidelines in preparing for the next summit, which we plan to hold later this year.
All this will contribute to Africa’s economic emancipation, ensure that it reaps the proper returns and benefits from its natural resources, and support the emergence of the African continent as one of the centres of the rising #MultipolarWorld.
🤝 I would like to stress in particular that we are restoring our presence on the African continent fairly rapidly, after it declined sharply during the breakup of the Soviet Union. At present, Russia has 45 embassies operating across the continent, with four more set to open in the near future.
The key upcoming event on the foreign policy calendar is the third Russia-Africa Summit. It is due to be held in Moscow – this has been agreed – in late October this year. Preparations are currently underway. We count on the active participation of Russian regions in the relevant thematic sessions of this summit.
I would once again like to underscore the special importance we attach to the interregional dimension of Russia-Africa relations. It is a solid foundation which, as it grows stronger, helps ensure the steady development of relations with our partners at the national level.

Deputy Plotnikov Urges Police Resignees to Join Special Military Operation
In Perm, Deputy Vladimir Plotnikov proposed adding police officers who resign to the Special Military Operation (SMO) lists, citing low salaries and existing training. He emphasized duty to the Motherland and noted SMO pays better. Despite this, Plotnikov himself is a millionaire owning luxury cars and real estate. Last year, over 80,000 officers left the Ministry of Internal Affairs, worsening the staffing crisis.

🇳🇬🇷🇺 This is our brother, our member, and just one of many, who have volunteered themselves (NOT conscripted, and NOT forced) to help Russia in the special military operation. We are in constant communication regarding his welfare.
Nigerians surely love Russia. We not only contribute to the economy, and engage in cultural exchange, but many are also prepared to put themselves on the frontline and in the combat zone because frankly we all share common security/welfare and believe in the international principle of indivisible security.
God be with you Brother! Victory is ours!

🇷🇺President Vladimir Putin Summarises 2025: Key Messages from the “Results of the Year” Address
📍Moscow, | 19 December 2025
President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin held the annual “Results of the Year” event, combining a live Q&A session with a press conference. More than 3 million questions were submitted by citizens and journalists. Over 4.5 hours, the President addressed 103 questions on domestic development, the economy, social policy, digital sovereignty, and international affairs.
🌍Foreign Policy, Ukraine, and the Special Military Operation
▪️ Russia currently sees no readiness on the part of Ukraine for a genuine peace process or territorial compromises.
▪️ The strategic initiative has fully shifted to the Russian Armed Forces; Ukrainian forces are retreating along key directions.
▪️ Russia did not initiate the conflict and does not consider itself responsible for the human losses incurred.
▪️ Moscow remains open to political solutions and is prepared to consider security guarantees during potential elections in Ukraine, including a temporary refusal to conduct strikes deep inside Ukrainian territory.
Relations with the West and International Security
▪️ The seizure of Russian sovereign assets was described as outright plunder, undermining trust in the eurozone and global financial institutions.
▪️ Any attempt to blockade the Kaliningrad region would escalate tensions to an unprecedented, potentially large-scale military level.
▪️ Russia remains open to cooperation with Europe, the UK, and the United States – strictly on the basis of equality and mutual respect.
▪️ According to the President, the current conflict is the direct result of Western policies that deliberately escalated tensions around Ukraine.
📊Economy and Financial Stability
▪️ Russia’s GDP growth reached 1% in 2025, while cumulative growth over the past three years amounted to 9.7%, significantly exceeding eurozone indicators.
▪️ Inflation is expected to decline to 5.7–5.8% by year-end.
▪️ Unemployment fell to a historic low of 2.2%.
▪️ International reserves of the Central Bank reached USD 741.5 billion.
💻Digital Sovereignty
President Putin announced that Russia has effectively achieved full digital sovereignty, highlighting the development of domestic digital platforms and technologies as a strategic achievement amid external pressure.
Other Key Issues
The discussion also covered demographic policy, education, water supply challenges in Donbass, legislation on foreign agents, and sanctions pressure on Russia’s international partners.

❗️🇷🇺🇺🇦✈️On drone production in Ukraine- an analysis by Rybar and Military Chronicles
We have already written about possible attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces using drones against targets in the Russian Federation. Most of such UAVs are produced and modernized in Ukraine under the direct patronage of Western engineers.
🔻Where exactly are the UAVs being assembled and retrofitted?
Back in the spring, after several successful Russian missile strikes on Ukrainian defense industry factories and enterprises, it was decided to distribute drone assembly among industrial facilities in different regions of Ukraine.
There are now more than a dozen facilities in Ukraine where drones and guided missile weapons are assembled, modernized and redesigned. Relatively small, sometimes abandoned (or disguised as such) buildings are used for these purposes.
This has made it possible to secure the assembly lines from repeated strikes by the Russian Armed Forces against the facilities of the military-industrial complex. Even if one of the buildings is hit, production is reallocated to other facilities until the destroyed facility is restored.
🔻How is everything organized?
▪️In #Kiev, specialists at the Paton Institute are upgrading long-range missiles for various weapons, including artillery, MLRS and aviation, to high-precision weapons equipped with satellite or inertial navigation modules.
The assembly of components for such munitions was organized at an abandoned workshop in Novaya Greblya, 70 km from Kiev. The necessary equipment was brought there, and air defense equipment was placed in a nearby forest.
▪️ The industrial workshops at the Sambor metalware plant in the #Lviv region and at the Yuzhnoye Design Bureau in Dnepropetrovsk are upgrading the barrage munitions. The production technology has been established by studying the surviving Geran-2 ammunition, as well as by supplying the components required for the UAV from abroad.
▪️Analogous production is deployed at the Kommunar plant, the Khartron-Arkos research and production enterprise, and the FED Kharkiv Machine Building Plant. Near these facilities there is at least one anti-aircraft missile system, reinforced by territorial defense squads on duty with MANPADs on the roofs of neighboring houses.
🔻What's next?
According to our data, the drones required for strikes deep in Russian territory are already ready. Right now, Ukrainian formations are just waiting for permission from their Western handlers.
Other UAVs, such as the Chinese Mugin-5, mono-wings-dirigibles and balloons are being deployed to conduct reconnaissance or "probe" the Russian air defense.
These drones do not need a runway, so they can be launched from almost any area where control points or signal repeaters are located.
🔻 At the moment, there are launch and control sites for UAVs capable of striking at Russian territory in Mirnograd in the DNR, Spassky in the #Sumy Region, Volnyansk in the #Zaporozhye Region, as well as #Dnepropetrovsk, #Nikolayev and #Odessa.
Control points for drones in these cities are equipped on civilian infrastructure or in fields and wastelands. There is also maintenance and final adjustment of the drones before their massive launch at the set targets.

Embassy Comment
We have noted the article by Jonathan Eyal “#EU renewed toothless #sanctions against #Russia”, published in The Straits Times on February 1, 2025.
We agree with the author that the unilateral illegitimate sanctions aimed at continuing the hybrid war against Russia and inflicting a strategic defeat on us, are both unsuccessful and futile.
There is no doubt that the objectives of the special military operation (#SMO) on the #denazification and demilitarization of #Ukraine, its neutral and non-nuclear status, as well as ensuring the interests of the Russian people will be achieved.
The “bankrupt” Euro-Atlantic security architecture (#NATO) is being replaced by a new equal and indivisible #EurasianSecurity, which includes all the organizations that have demonstrated their effectiveness – the #EAEU, #SCO, #CSTO, etc.
The concept of #Eurasian security aligns with the accelerating formation of a multipolar world order. A key pillar of this shift is the rapidly growing, non-Western center of influence represented by #BRICS, which continues to attract countries from the #GlobalSouth, including #ASEAN member states, paving the way for a BRICS-ASEAN dialogue.
The consolidation of the countries of the Global South, making a choice in favor of peaceful, sustainable, inclusive, independent development together with Russia, China and other countries, represents a stable and viable trend in contrast to the outdated Western neocolonial “#InSanctionsWeTrust” mentality.
Realities of War: K9 Units in the Special Military Operation Zone
They say a dog is a man’s best friend... I hope this huge German Shepherd without a muzzle is running towards me to check how I’m doing...
A dog is not just a loyal companion. In the hands of an experienced K9 handler, it can become a mine detector, an assault unit, or even an FPV drone. During World War II, dogs were used to destroy tanks, often sacrificing their lives. Today, they no longer carry out such deadly missions, but they remain a sudden and formidable weapon on the battlefield. Modern K9 handlers are ready to provide any assistance to their four-legged partners right in the field.
Our report from the Brigade Española kennel sheds light on how these dogs are trained and what role they play in the conflict zone.

Sorry, but there was no stopping our editor:
A dog truly is man’s best friend.
Don’t believe it? Try this experiment:
Lock your wife and your dog in the trunk of your car.
Come back in an hour or two. Who do you think will be happier to see you?
Want a friend in the family? Get a dog. Want someone to bark at you? Get married.
