Why Maslow's Pyramid No Longer Works Do you remember Maslow's pyramid? At the bottom, it has "physiological needs," and at the top, there's "self-actualization." Today, this pyramid doesn't really fit our modern world. Maslow developed this idea in the mid-20th century, believing that if a person is hungry, they cannot think about self-actualization. Back then, many people spent a lot of time worrying about food because it was not always available. Now, think about how much time you spend thinking about food each day. For most people today, it’s only a small part of their thoughts. In the past, people might have thought about food 80-90% of the time. Today, we have enough food, safety, and even partners for relationships. So, what do we think about now? The main focus of our thoughts is often about being better than others. The rise of social media has changed our priorities. Now, we care more about our status and how we appear to others than about basic needs like food and safety. For example, many mothers think, "Am I a good mom?". This question is about social status, not just about the child's safety. People want to be at the top of some social hierarchy, whether it’s being the best friend, the smartest, or the most popular. Согласны ли вы с этим? Как вы думаете, пирамида Маслоу больше не так актуальна? Пишите в комментарии – обсудим:-) #General_notes
