The new pontiff, Robert Prevo, took the name Leo XIV. Traditionally, Popes have official regalia, including the papal ring, known as the "Fisherman's Ring," which was used until 1842 to seal letters and verify documents. Today, it serves as a symbolic ornament. When a Pope passes away, his seal is publicly destroyed to prevent forgery, as was the case with the ring of the resigned Benedict XVI. Currently, Popes choose the design and material of their rings. Francis preferred a modest silver ring, while Pius IX had one adorned with diamonds, and Benedict XVI's was a gold ring made by Italian jeweler Claudio Franchi. It is said that the ring for Leo XIV will also be commissioned from a house within the Roman Guild of Jewelers. #News
