The results show that a high level of proficiency in a second language is associated with better performance in working memory and attention tests. Meanwhile, the frequency of language use and the age at which one starts learning have no significant impact. The conclusions are that language learning enhances cognitive skills throughout life, regardless of the age at which one begins studying.
