🗓 On September 26, the #ADMMPlus (ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus) joint international anti-terrorist exercise involving the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the armed forces of the #ASEAN Member States and #ADMMPlus Dialogue Partners has kicked off in Primorsky Krai, Russia 🇷🇺. 🔹️ The exercise is aimed at strengthening and promoting regional cooperation in counter-terrorism, enhancing operational cooperation among ASEAN Member States and their Dialogue Partners in counter-terrorism, and sharing counterterrorism experience. 🔹️The exercise comprises two stages. At the first stage, representatives of the military command bodies at the operational and tactical levels are to determine the concept and develop a decision to conduct an anti-terrorist operation. At the second stage, the military contingents as part of a multinational grouping are to practise joint practical actions in the course of an anti-terrorist operation at the Sergeevsky training ground. 🔹️ Apart from Russia 🇷🇺 operational groups and military contingents of the Armed Forces of Brunei 🇧🇳, Vietnam 🇻🇳, India 🇮🇳, Indonesia 🇮🇩, Cambodia 🇰🇭, China🇨🇳, Laos 🇱🇦, Malaysia 🇲🇾, Myanmar 🇲🇲, Thailand 🇹🇭, and the Philippines 🇵🇭 are taking part in the exercises. 🚩 Russia's and Myanmar's are currently Co-Chairing the ADMM-Plus Experts' Working Group (EWG) on Counter Terrorism.

🗓 On August 1-5, representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defence 🇷🇺 participated in a table top exercise (TTX) on countering terrorism held in Myanmar 🇲🇲 within the framework of #ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus (#ADMMPlus). 🔹️Russian delegation comprised of the officers of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the Eastern Military District and the Pacific Fleet was headed by the Deputy Commander of the Eastern Military District, Lieutenant General Mikhail Nosulev. 🔹️Apart from Russia representatives of the military departments of Brunei 🇧🇳, Vietnam 🇻🇳, India 🇮🇳, Indonesia 🇮🇩, Cambodia 🇰🇭, China 🇨🇳, Laos 🇱🇦, Malaysia 🇲🇾, Myanmar 🇲🇲, Thailand 🇹🇭 and the Philippines 🇵🇭 attended the training. 🚩 Russia's and Myanmar's are currently Co-Chairing the ADMM-Plus Experts' Working Group (EWG) on Counter Terrorism.

On 22 November, on the sidelines of on the ADMM-Plus events in Cambodia, Russian Deputy Minister of Defence Colonel General Alexander Fomin held talks with Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia General Tea Banh. Aleksandr Fomin thanked Cambodia for the invitation and warm welcome. “The ADMM-Plus framework is highly important not only for the states of the region but also for other countries, including Russia. Since the launch of this framework, we have been taking a very active part in it,” said the Russian Deputy Defence Minister. Alexander Fomin also noted that this year marks the 66th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Russia and Cambodia. "We interact in all fields – economic, political, cultural as well as military and military-technical spheres. This date was approved by the ASEAN Standing Committee at its annual meeting in May 2005. 🌏 ASEAN was founded in Bangkok on August 8, 1967, by Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines, which signed the so-called Bangkok Declaration. Later, this regional organisation was joined by Brunei (1984), Vietnam (1995), Laos and Myanmar (1997), and Cambodia (1999). ASEAN is one of the most successful regional organisations. It has a broad network of various intergovernmental associations involving Russia and other leading world powers: the East Asia Summit (#EAS), ASEAN Regional Forum (#ARF), and ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting-Plus (#ADMMPlus). ☝️ Promoting ties with ASEAN is Russia’s key foreign policy priority in Asia. The Russian Permanent Mission to ASEAN has been based in Jakarta since 2017. Strengthening relations with ASEAN remains one of Russia’s top foreign policy priorities in Asia. The Russian Permanent Mission to ASEAN has been based in Jakarta since 2017. In 2018, Russia-ASEAN ties reached the level of strategic partnership. 📈 In 2024, trade between Russia and ASEAN nations grew by 5.8% to $23.2 billion. During the first nine months of 2024, total capital investments from ASEAN states into the Russian economy amounted to $2.3 billion, while total Russian investments in Southeast Asia reached $12.4 billion. 🗓On 15–16 February, the delegation of the Russian Ministry of Defence🇷🇺 took part in the regular meeting of the #ASEAN Defence Senior Officials’ Meeting-Plus Working Group (#ADSOM-Plus WG) in Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia🇮🇩. The participants discussed the progress achieved by the seven #ADMM-Plus Experts' Working Groups (EWGs) as well as plans for the next cycle 2024-2027. The Russian delegation briefed the meeting on key threats to regional security and outlined ways towards effective regional defence cooperation. The meeting was also informed on the current progress of Russia's and Myanmar's Co-Chairmanship of the ADMM-Plus EWG on Counter Terrorism and preparations for the multilateral counter-terrorism table-top and field exercises planned for September 2023 in Russia🇷🇺. The meeting reaffirmed readiness of the ADMM-Plus countries to cooperate in all areas of mutual interest.
