Today, I took part in the Russian National Scientific Conference "Arab East in Contemporary Global Politics," organized in Moscow by the Department of the Middle & Post-Soviet East of the Institute of Scientific Information for Social Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS INION). I delivered a presentation, entitled the "Contradictory Middle East: Conflict Zones vs. Sustainable Development Zones" at the plenary session of the conference. Using infographics (geographic maps) and the data visualization method, I spoke about the existing hot spots of conflict versus the emerging areas of sustainable development across the MENA. Those hot spots and areas encompass the Arab countries, Iran, Israel, and Türkiye. I also outlined the geographical proximity of the above mentioned zones. It illustrates the controversial character of the MENA region, facing both the risks of transformation of multiple conflicts into a single large-scale conflict, i.e. a big war, and the ongoing genesis of the zones, explicitly focused on stable socio-economic development. Those zones include the Persian Gulf, Egypt, and others. The force field analysis (Kurt Lewin's method) enabled me to identify the main driving and opposing forces in the MENA region. Due to the existence of such drivers, the MENA's prospects for the 2024-2025 and beyond remain unclear, varying drastically from a radical military scenario to a peaceful evolution. On March 14-15, Governance and Policy Think Tank (GPTT), affiliated with the Tehran-based Sharif University of Technology organized the 2nd online-Conference "The Regional Order and the Role of Global Actors in the Gaza Crisis and Its Aftermath." Experts from Iran, China, Russia, and Türkiye, as well as the UK (NGO "Conflicts Forum") participated in the discussion. I made a presentation on the topic: "Russia and the Middle East: A New Pattern of Cooperation After 7 Oct 2023." Выступил в ходе первой экспертной дискуссии "Интеграции: пересборка союзников и партнеров?" в рамках VIII Международной научно-практической конференции "Россия и мир: диалоги 2024. Силы притяжения". Тема доклада: "Интерес арабских стран к интеграции в Евразии: тактика или стратегия?" При помощи метода силового поля сделал вывод о стратегическом характере интереса арабских стран к интеграции в Евразии (см. рисунок, © при цитировании ссылка на мой Телеграм-канал обязательна). During the 1st expert session "Integrations: Reshuffling Allies and Partners?" atthe VIII International Scientific and Practical Conference "Russia and the World: Dialogues 2024. Driving Forces of Attraction," I spoke on the "Interest of the Arab countries Toward Integration in Eurasia: Tactics or Strategy?" Main points in English: - Common challenges for the Arab world and Eurasian Non-West include regional conflicts with a high degree of interdependence, terrorism, extremism, separatism, and cross-border crime, which leads to the growth of the Eurasian Arc of instability. - Challenges include the threats to national identity, sovereignty, and independence, posed by neocolonialism, the US's claims to world hegemony under the slogans of the "Leadership Mandate" and "America First Approach", along with Western attempts to use sanctions and methods of unfair competition. - Examples of interstate dialogues reflect the growing interest of Arab states to cooperate with the new centers of poweras well as integration projects in Eurasia/with the participation of the Eurasian powers (SCO, BRICS, Belt and Road). - By using the force field method, I illustrated the strategic nature of the Arabs' interest to integration in Eurasia (©for quoting, reference to my Telegram channel is required). Вчера выступил с презентацией на IV Международной конференции «"Чтения В.Г. Растянникова”: Страны Азии и Африки на пути к многополярному миру», организованной Институтом востоковедения РАН. В мероприятии приняли участие ученые и эксперты из России, Азербайджана, Индии, Казахстана, Китая, Пакистана, Швейцарии, иностранные студенты, обучающиеся в РФ. Программа конференции прилагается. Yesterday, I delivered a presentation at the 4th International Conference “Readings of V.G. Rastyannikov: Asian and African Countries Towards a Multi-Polar World Order." It was organized by the RAS Institute of Oriental Studies. The conference hosted scholars and experts from Russia, Azerbaijan, China, India, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, and Switzerland, as well as foreign students, studying in Russia. 13 марта 2024 г. на базе МГИМО в рамках программы "Приоритет 2030" была организована Международная научно-практическая конференция «Проблемы и возможности развития экономических связей России с дружественными странами». В мероприятии приняли участие эксперты из ведущих вузов и академических центров ряда субъектов РФ, а также из Армении, Белоруссии, Вьетнама, Индии, Казахстана, Кыргызстана, Таджикистана, Узбекистана. Выступили сотрудники российской Дипломатической академии и Минэкономразвития России, представители Банка России, госкорпорации "Ростех", Газпромбанка, АО "Силовые машины". С приветственным словом к участникам обратился проректор по научной работе МГИМО А.А. Байков. На состоявшемся в рамках конференции круглом столе "Арабские страны, Турция, Иран" представил свой доклад на тему "Перспективная роль России в обеспечении технологической безопасности арабских стран". On March 13, 2024, the MGIMO University hosted an International Scientific and Practical Conference, which was organized under the title of "The Development of Economic Relations of Russia with Friendly Countries: Challenges and Opportunities" within the framework of the "Priority 2030" project. The event gathered a great number of experts, representing leading universities and think tanks of several Russian regions, as well as Armenia, Belarus, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam. The representatives of the Russian Diplomatic Academy and the RF Ministry of Economic Development, Bank of Russia, Rostec State Corporation, Gazprombank, and the "Power Machines" company also attended. The audience was welcomed by the MGIMO Vice-Rector for Scientific Work Dr. Andrey Baykov. I spoke at the round table "Arab Countries, Türkiye, and Iran" on the topic "Perspective Role of Russia in Ensuring the Technological Security of Arab Countries."
