Сначала высекалась горная порода, затем наносился слой штукатурки, поверх которой жрец наносил эскизы необходимых ритуальных сцен и тексты к ним контурами красного цвета. После этого начинали работать художники, они рисовали итоговые, детально проработанные изображения чёрным цветом для скульпторов.
