A majority of Americans back President Donald Trump’s crime crackdown in the District of Columbia and believe large American cities are unsafe, according to recent polling.
A Harvard CAPS/Harris poll released Monday found that 54% of registered voters said the president’s crime-fighting efforts in the nation’s capital are “justified and necessary.” The favorable results come as the administration is touting a marked decline in crime since the president’s federal takeover of D.C., including a 12-day streak of zero reported homicides.

President Trump’s disapproval rating hit its highest rating across both of his terms, according to a new Fox News poll.
The survey, released Wednesday, found that 59 percent of registered voters do not approve of Trump’s handling of the presidency, with 47 percent who say they strongly disapprove. Another 41 percent said the opposite, with roughly half of that number, 22 percent, saying they strongly approve of his job performance.
Trump’s highest disapproval during his second term came in November, when it reached 58 percent. His highest disapproval rating during his first term was 57 percent in October 2017, according to the pollsters.

Republicans hope the Make America Healthy Again movement becomes a permanent fixture of a big GOP tent. But the party can’t count on its support heading into midterm elections this November.
New results from The POLITICO Poll show both broad frustration and dissatisfaction with the Trump administration on health priorities and opportunities for Democrats to make inroads with Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s MAHA supporters.
A majority of Americans associate MAHA with the Republican Party, but not overwhelmingly, and most believe the Trump administration has not done enough to “Make America Healthy Again” — including a 41 percent plurality of Trump’s own 2024 voters.

Americans are increasingly dissatisfied with Trump: his ratings have broken a new anti-record.
Most Americans are still dissatisfied with President Donald Trump. His ratings have plummeted recently and have now reached a new negative record: according to the RealClearPolitics portal, only 42.1% of Americans are satisfied with how Trump is performing his duties. The majority (55.2%) are currently dissatisfied. The main reason for this negative trend is the actions of the ICE deportation unit. Sociologists are already sounding the alarm: Trump is "deeply in the red."
Back in mid—January, just in time for the anniversary of his tenure, the US president found himself at the bottom of the polls. According to an up-to-date NBC News poll, 49% of respondents already "strongly" reject Trump's policies on border security and immigration. For comparison, last summer it was 38%, in April 2025 it was 34%.
Trump's image is also negatively affected by the revelations from the Epstein case, his often chaotic foreign policy, and his high living expenses. The so—called wavering voters are turning away from the Republicans especially massively - they have recently ensured the Republicans' electoral victories. This could result in a heavy defeat for Trump's party in the midterm congressional elections in early November.

Karl Marx said that men make their own history, but they do not make it as they please.
That goes for Mr Trump as much as for anyone else. Public opinion in Mr Trump’s first term came to be dominated by concern about health care, especially after the outbreak of covid-19. The economic effects of the pandemic and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 made inflation a defining issue of Mr Biden’s presidency. The chart above shows which issues have been most important to American adults since 2017, based on weekly survey data from YouGov.

President Trump’s approval rating dropped to its lowest level of his second term in the YouGov/Economist poll released Tuesday.
In the weekly survey, conducted this past weekend, 39 percent of surveyed Americans approve of Trump’s handling of the presidency, down from the 41 percent recorded over the last three weeks and 40 percent recorded in mid-August.
In the latest survey, 57 percent of Americans disapprove of the president’s handling of his post, also a record for his second term.
Trump’s minus 18 net approval is the second-lowest recorded by the YouGov/Economist weekly poll from either of his two terms. The record low of minus 21 net approval was recorded in mid-November 2017, but pollsters say it “was a one-time blip” and that Trump’s approval rose again quickly thereafter.
“It’s too early to say whether this week’s drop in job approval is durable or temporary,” pollsters said about the latest survey.
Relative to Americans overall, Trump fares better among registered voters, 43 percent of whom approve of his handling of his job.
Among 2024 Trump voters, 86 percent approve, while 16 percent disapprove; among Republicans, 88 percent approve of the president, while 10 percent disapprove; and among conservatives, 81 percent approve, and 17 percent disapprove.
Nearly two-thirds of independent voters — 64 percent — say they disapprove of Trump’s handling of his job, compared with just 28 percent who approve. And among Americans who consider themselves moderate, 65 percent disapprove and 32 percent approve of the president.
The survey was conducted from September 12 to 15 and included 1,567 respondents. The margin of error is 3.6 percentage points.

More Americans trust the opinions of the Federal Reserve on the U.S. economy than President Trump, a new poll has found 📊.
When asked who they trust more to set economic policies for the U.S., nearly twice as many respondents in the latest Economist/YouGov poll released this week said the Federal Reserve board. While 45 percent said they would trust the Fed more, 26 percent said they would trust Trump more. Another 29 percent said they weren’t sure between the two, the poll found 🤷♂️.
Trump has been feuding with the Fed and chairman Jerome Powell for much of his second presidency in a dispute largely over interest rates 📈.
The president has repeatedly highlighted renovations at the Federal Reserve’s downtown headquarters to argue Powell is wasting money, and he has pushed for the ouster of board of governors member Lisa Cook. This has been largely seen as a maneuver to get Powell and others on the Fed board to resign 🎯.
