THE I-FORUM OF CENTRAL ASIAN OMBUDSMEN HAS STARTED Tashkent, June 28-29, 2022 – As part of an official visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Kazakhstan Elvira Azimova took part in the First Forum of Central Asian Ombudsmen on the topic: «Cooperation of Central Asian Ombudsmen in ensuring human rights and freedoms». During the meeting, the Ombudsmen exchanged views on further strengthening the legal status and developing mutually beneficial cooperation in improving the effectiveness of national human rights institutions, addressing issues of women's and children's rights, the role of the family, the rights of persons with disabilities, as well as human rights in institutions that ensure isolation from society. The purpose of the forum is to ensure the Paris Principles adopted by the UN General Assembly resolution of 1993, guarantee the protection of human rights, freedoms, and legitimate interests, including by considering allegations of their violation, assisting in protecting and promoting the rights of women, families, children, and persons with disabilities, as well as to take effective measures to protect their rights and interests, to carry out measures aimed at preventing other forms of inhuman or degrading treatment in places of detention of persons whose freedom of movement is restricted, (https://www.un.org/ru/documents/decl_conv/conventions/paris.shtml).
