Here are some helpful tips to help you stay safe online: 💡Don’t click on suspicious links, and avoid downloading apps or content from unknown sources. 💡If you receive an SMS from HDB or other government agencies, make sure it is sent from the “gov.sg” SMS Sender ID. 💡Do not believe a caller/texter just because he/she knows your personal information, e.g. your name or NRIC number. 💡Call the 24/7 ScamShield Helpline at 1799 to check if you are unsure and add the ScamShield app to block scam calls and filter scam SMSes.

#PSA The water quality at Changi Beach is now back to normal. You may now swim and take part in water activities there. Information on the water quality at beaches is available at: go.gov.sg/beach-water-info

#PSA The advisory against primary contact water activities has been lifted. There has been no other oil sightings at sea and ashore since 20 Oct (Sun) when Shell first reported the leak in their slop pipeline. You can now swim and take part in water activities at the beaches of East Coast Park, Kusu, St John’s and Lazarus islands.

#PSA Clean-up of beaches affected by the oil spill has completed ahead of schedule! 🙌 A BIG thank you to everyone who worked hard to restore areas affected by the oil spill. This significant milestone in Singapore’s recovery from the June 2024 oil spill would not have been possible without - 800 cleaning personnel who removed about 3,750 tonnes of oil-soaked sand and debris. - More than 2,300 volunteers that stepped forward to conduct litter picking when cleaners were deployed to clean up the oil spill and subsequently to remove tar balls when it was safe to do so. - Over 10,000 metres of booms that were deployed to prevent oil from being washed ashore or into our inland canals. #PSA Beaches at East Coast Park re-opened yesterday (11 Aug 2024). 🎉 A shoutout to everyone, especially our clean-up teams, who worked hard to restore the beautiful beaches ahead of time. ✅ Non-primary contact water sports, such as kayaking, can resume. ❌ While it is safe to use the beach, you’re advised not to undertake primary contact water sports such as swimming or wakeboarding. Water activities can only fully resume when the water quality returns to normal and is stable. We’ll continue to monitor the water quality. Information on the water quality at beaches is available at: go.gov.sg/beach-water-info There’s more good news at Kusu Island – the beach has re-opened and all water activities including swimming and other primary contact water activities can resume.

#PSA If you’re planning a day out at the beach, you are advised not to swim at Pasir Ris Beach and Sembawang Park Beach until further notice. The 2 beaches are graded “Fair”, indicating increased occurrences of elevated levels of enterococcus bacteria in the waters of these beaches. NEA is working with other agencies such as PUB, NParks and SFA to investigate and mitigate possible sources contributing to the elevated bacteria. More info at go.gov.sg/2024beachgrading
