Заброшенный карьер в Канаде превратят в гидробатарейку
🔋Главная достопримечательность канадского посёлка Мармора (Marmora, восточное Онтарио) – это искусственное озеро с водой лазурного цвета, которое образовалось на месте бывшего карьера, где открытым способом добывали железную руду. Но единственным применением карьера до сих пор было фотографирование на его фоне с маленькой смотровой площадки (попасть в сам карьер и поплавать в озере невозможно, так как, видимо, это не безопасно из-за каменистых сводов). Сегодня для этого места снова нашлась работа: местные производителей электроэнергии OPG и Northland Power предлагают превратить бывший карьер в гидроэлектрическую батарею, которая сможет давать электричество для Онтарио.
🔋Предлагаемая гидроаккумулирующая установка с замкнутым контуром мощностью 400 мегаватт (МВт) могла бы обеспечивать чистой возобновляемой электроэнергией до 400 000 домов при пиковом спросе в течение пяти часов. Заброшенный рудник предполагается использовать в качестве нижнего резервуара установки. Ночью, когда спрос на электроэнергию невелик, вода будет закачиваться в верхний резервуар, бывший отвал пустой породы шахты, фактически заряжаясь, как гигантская батарея. В течение дня, когда спрос высок, эта вода будет сбрасываться обратно в нижний резервуар, падая более чем на 200 метров, что в четыре раза превышает высоту Ниагарского водопада, и проходить через турбины для выработки электроэнергии. Это первый подобный ВИЭ-проект у канадских энергетических компаний.
🔋Шахтный карьер площадью свыше 30 га, глубина которого достигает более 200 метров под уровнем земли, был создан для добычи полезных ископаемых в середине 20-го века и закрыт в конце 1970-х годов. С тех пор яма наполнилась смесью дождевой и грунтовой воды.
🔋Ожидается, что проект позволит создать до 3500 рабочих мест в течение срока службы установки и потенциально сократить выбросы парниковых газов от 70 000 до 140 000 тонн в год.
🔋Гидроаккумуляторная установка обладает теми же преимуществами, что и обычные гидроэлектростанции, включая длительный срок службы (более 90 лет), значительно более низкие эксплуатационные расходы по сравнению с другими видами топлива и меньший урон для окружающей среды.
В настоящее время проект Marmora проходит процесс согласования в регулирующих органах. Это одна из нескольких инициатив, выбранных Министерством энергетики Онтарио для удовлетворения будущего спроса на электроэнергию. 1️⃣ Imposition of tariffs
Trump's promise to impose tariffs on imports should have minimal effect on Indonesia, as the majority of Indonesia's GDP comes from domestic consumption.
This sets Indonesia apart from other Southeast Asian countries that are much more export-dependent. These are primarily Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia.
2️⃣ Trade war with China
Indonesia could potentially benefit from plans to impose tariffs on goods from China. This could be a driver for relocating production to less risky jurisdictions.
In this way, Indonesia, with its strategic location, population size and availability of all minerals, could become an alternative manufacturing hub.
3️⃣ Strengthening of the dollar
Immediately after the election results were announced, the dollar posted an average gain of 1.7% against other currencies.
Market participants expect that under the new US president there will be no rapid reduction in interest rates, which should give the dollar additional support.
The Indonesian rupiah reacted quite calmly to the election results and even strengthened slightly against the dollar. In comparison, the Thai baht and Malay ringgit fell nearly 4%.
4️⃣ Foreign Policy
New President Prabowo Subianto began his two-week tour yesterday with a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. After that he plans to travel to the US to meet with Joe Biden and potentially Trump.
In this way, the Indonesian authorities are showing what they see as the basic strategy in foreign policy – “friends with all”.
