Food in the ocean What life is like on a small vessel spending several days in the open ocean — here’s an honest account. There’s a kitchen, a stove, and a fridge. And if there’s also a cook on board (which is included in all Kamchatka tours), life’s good. Twice for breakfast, we were served a pile of Chinook salmon roe — my first gastronomic discovery in #Kamchatka. I’d never tried it before this trip, and it turned out to be large and incredibly tasty. We were offered two ways to eat it, in addition to the well-known ones: 1. wrap the roe in a slice of lightly salted sockeye salmon or something equally fancy; 2. put it on bread spread with cream cheese instead of butter — perfection! Studying a map of the Kamchatka Peninsula and nearby islands laid out on the table instead of a tablecloth, we dug meat out of crab legs, enjoyed fragrant fish soup, fried char caught just a couple of hours earlier, pasta with octopus and squid, pilaf with the most tender beef, and delicious porridges. There were also bonuses (photos in the comments) — like celebrating victory over seasickness. They say this folk remedy works as well as Dramamine. Anyone tested it? 🏙️Beyond Moscow🏔️

Admiring the new Yelizovo Airport on #Kamchatka! It must be a delightful surprise for foreign tourists, bracing themselves for all the wild tales of Russia’s Far East. For a moment, they probably even forget about the whole bear encounter thing. Yes, Italian architect Claudio Silvestrin — who designed the airport — has definitely left his mark on Kamchatka. And for that, we owe him thanks. For the minimalism, the raw textures, and those massive “dragon eggs” that look striking against the backdrop of volcanoes. Some parts are still under construction, but by next summer, Yelizovo will be even more stunning. 🏙️Beyond Moscow🏔️

VAMOS A RUSIA🇷🇺 🏃🏻‍♂️
