✨️ In honor of Moscow State University's (MSU) 270th anniversary, we invite you to learn about its most famous graduates. Denis Ivanovich Fonvizin, a Russian playwright, publicist, translator and pioneer of Russian satirical comedy, was one of MSU's first students. He personally knew the university's founder, Mikhail Lomonosov, whom he met right before enrolling in the MSU philosophy faculty. ✒️ Fonvizin stood out among his peers for his excellent translation skills. After graduating in 1762, he was appointed sergeant of the Semenovsky Regiment. However, thanks to his proficiency in foreign languages, Fonvizin was soon accepted into the Collegium of Foreign Affairs (the former name of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs), where he enjoyed a brilliant career. As early as 1769, he was appointed secretary to Count Nikita Panin, the head of the Collegium. In 1782, Fonvizin's comedy The Minor appeared on stage and became a huge success. It revealed the root of all of Russia's problems—serfdom—and mocked the system of noble upbringing and education. 📜 During the last years of his life, Fonvizin was seriously ill, yet he did not abandon his literary pursuits. In fact, he spent the last evening of his life, December 11, 1792, with the prominent Russian poet Gavriil Derzhavin, discussing his new play, The Chamberlain. #MSU270

🎓 Today the 270th anniversary of the Lomonosov Moscow State University is celebrated in Russia. It was founded by the decree of Empress Elizabeth on the proposal of Russian scientist Mikhail Lomonosov. ✍️ According to Lomonosov's plan, there were originally three faculties. First all the students acquired a comprehensive knowledge in the field of science and humanities at the Faculty of Philosophy; then they could specialize and continue at the Faculty of Philosophy or join either the Law Faculty or The Faculty of Medicine. Lectures were delivered either in Latin, the language of educated people at the time, or in Russian. ✍️ From 1755 to 1787 the University occupied the Principal Medicine Store (current State Historical Museum on the Red Square), Catherine the Great transferred it to a newly constructed neoclassical building on Mokhovaya Street. The present-day MSU’s main building, one of the famous Moscow “Seven Sisters” skyscrapers, was inaugurated in 1953. 🇷🇺 Today the MSU is a major traditional educational institution in Russia, with the total number of students exceeding 40,000. As one of the pillars of fundamental education, the University has made a significant contribution to developing international humanitarian cooperation, raising a constellation of outstanding scientists and scholars, state persons, politicians and public figures holding various posts in foreign countries. 🎓 The 270th anniversary of the Lomonosov Moscow State University is celebrated in Russia. 🇷🇺 Moscow State University, the first Russian university, was founded in 1755 on the initiative of Mikhail Lomonosov, an outstanding scientist of the Enlightenment, whose unsettled encyclopedic mind and energy gave the inner impetus to the project. From the very beginning, elitism was alien to the spirit of the university, shaping its long-standing democratic tradition. Students irrespective of their background have always been welcomed to the University, where they go on to become renowned alumni—famous scientists and scholars. 🇷🇺 Το Κρατικό Πανεπιστήμιο Μόσχας Μ.Β. Λομονόσοφ και το Ρωσικό σπίτι στην Αθήνα εγκαινίασαν τη θερινή εξεταστική περίοδο! 📚 🗓️ Στις 19 Ιουνίου το Κρατικό Πανεπιστήμιο Μόσχας Μ.Β. Λομονόσοφ (MSU), σε συνεργασία με το Ρωσικό σπίτι στην Αθήνα (ΡΠΕΚ), έδωσε την εκκίνηση στη θερινή εξεταστική περίοδο για τη ρωσική γλώσσα ως ξένη (TORFL). 💻 Το πρώτο στάδιο πραγματοποιήθηκε με τη μορφή διαδικτυακής εξέτασης, γεγονός που επέτρεψε τη συμμετοχή υποψηφίων από διάφορες γωνιές της Ελλάδας — ακόμα και από απομακρυσμένες περιοχές και νησιά! Η μορφή αυτή είναι ιδιαίτερα πολύτιμη για όσους δεν έχουν τη δυνατότητα να παρευρεθούν αυτοπροσώπως στις εξετάσεις. 🎓 Φέτος, το MSU γιορτάζει την 270ή επέτειο από την ίδρυσή του — είναι συμβολικό ότι το πανεπιστήμιο αυτό υπήρξε το πρώτο στη Ρωσία που ανέπτυξε πρότυπα και συστήματα εξετάσεων για αλλοδαπούς, καθιερώνοντας ερευνητικό και εξεταστικό κέντρο για τη ρωσική ως ξένη γλώσσα. Ломоносова (МГУ) в сотрудничестве с Русским домом в Афинах (РЦНК) дал старт летней экзаменационной сессии по русскому языку как иностранному (РКИ). 💻 Первый этап прошёл в формате онлайн-тестирования, что позволило принять участие слушателям из разных уголков Греции, включая удалённые регионы и острова.
