🇷🇺🇨🇬President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of the Republic of the Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso held talks in the Kremlin (Moscow, 29 April 2026) 💬Vladimir Putin: As we were walking here, Mr President and I recalled that the first bilateral treaty was signed back in 1981. Since that time, Russia (then the USSR) and the Congo have enjoyed friendly, full-fledged and good relations. I would like to congratulate you on the results of the election. We greatly appreciate that Russia is the first foreign country you have chosen to visit after your inauguration. Thank you as well for receiving our delegation headed by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak. He also reported to me on that visit. We have good prospects for developing our relations across various areas. As for the economy, these include geological exploration, energy, logistics, agriculture and several other areas. Our companies are ready and willing to work in your country’s market, primarily because you have a stable domestic political situation, which creates good prospects for business. The intergovernmental commissions are working. I would also like to draw attention to humanitarian cooperation – above all, personnel training. Over previous years, 8,000 specialists for the Congo have been trained in Russia, and now 850 young people continue their studies in Russia. We continue to work actively on the international stage and at international platforms. We are grateful to you for your active participation in the Russia-Africa Summits. We are now preparing the Third Summit for this autumn. We count on your personal participation and invite you to Moscow. *** During your visit, a joint plan of action for the coming years in the economic sphere is to be signed.
