The 100th Anniversary of the Artek International Children’s Centre is a momentous occasion for all of Russia. As the nation’s first camp dedicated to the recreation and health of schoolchildren, Artek has long stood as a symbol of joyful childhood and enduring friendship.
Over the years, it has warmly welcomed boys and girls from across the country and around the world. For many, the days spent on the shores of the Black Sea became a true celebration of a vivid, cherished dream come to life. At Artek, children were inspired, guided, and educated. They were encouraged to grow in harmony, to understand the power of camaraderie and teamwork, to express their creativity, and to believe in themselves. It was a place where talents were discovered, values were shaped, and goals for the future began to take form.
Meetings with renowned writers, cosmonauts, public figures, Olympic champions, and distinguished military leaders played a vital role in shaping the young minds of the schoolchildren fortunate enough to spend their holidays at Artek.
It is heartening to see that these and many other traditions continue to thrive today. What began a century ago as a modest tent camp has grown into one of the world’s largest and most renowned centres for children’s recreation. Artek’s appeal remains as strong as ever, which is why the final stage of the country’s largest youth contest, Bolshaya Peremena (The Big Recess), is now held here.
While preserving its unique spirit, Artek has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent years. Today, it stands as a modern, forward-thinking space where every child can find something that inspires them, whether it is sports, the arts, exploring new technologies, or joining hikes, excursions, and workshops. The themed sessions organised by educational institutions and public organisations are particularly popular.
This vibrant, educational environment is the result of the tireless and creative efforts of educators and counsellors, teachers and medical staff – of all those who have devoted themselves to the development of Artek.
I would like to offer my sincere gratitude for your dedication, hard work and commitment. The experience gained here and the unique approaches to shaping young personalities are more relevant and valuable today than ever before.
I congratulate all generations of Artek alumni on this remarkable anniversary and wish you continued success in all your pursuits.

🎉 Aujourd'hui, 16 juin 2025, le Centre international pour enfants Artek fête les 100 ans de sa création!
Ouvert en 1925 sur les rives de la mer Noire en tant que sanatorium pour les enfants souffrant de tuberculose, Artek est devenu le centre pour enfants le plusimportant et le plusconnu non seulement en URSS, mais aussi bien au-delà de ses frontières. Au cours de sa première année d'existence, Artek a accueilli 320 enfants. Les années suivantes, ce chiffre n'a fait qu'augmenter.
Pendant la Grande Guerre Patriotique, Artek a été occupé par des envahisseurs germano-roumains, qui ont détruit une partie de l'infrastructure du camp et ont installé leurs fortifications sur son territoire. En raison du déclenchement des hostilités, certains enfants n'ont pas pu rentrer chez eux.
Artek a été libéré le 15 avril 1944. Un vaste projet de construction est immédiatement lancé dans le camp. Des fonds importants sont alloués à sa restauration. Peu après la fin de la guerre, le camp peut à nouveau accueillir des enfants.
Dans les années 1960, le projet «Grand Artek» de l'architecte Anatoly POLYANSKY a été mis en place. Le camp s'est transformé en un complexe moderne doté d'une infrastructure développée. À la fin de la décennie, Artek comptait 150 bâtiments, trois centres médicaux, une école, le studio de cinéma ArtekFilm, trois piscines, un stade de 7 000 places et des terrains de jeux.
👉 Aujourd'hui, Artek est un centre multifonctionnel pour enfants et adolescents composé de neuf camps d'enfants (la superficie totale d'Artek est de 218 hectares), qui combine les loisirs avec l'éducation et le développement créatif. Artek dispose de ses propres technologies éducatives et traditions culturelles, d'une infrastructure moderne comprenant des bâtiments éducatifs et sportifs, des salles de concert, des laboratoires scientifiques et des espaces ouverts pour les loisirs actifs.
Le Centre international pour enfants Artek n'est pas seulement un lieu de loisirs, mais aussi l'une des plus grandes plateformes éducatives de Russie. De nombreux concours pour écoliers, festivals, classes de maître, conférences, forums, marathons et événements sportifs y sont organisés.
🎊 Aujourd'hui encore, Artek reste un lieu de rencontre pour les enfants actifs et curieux du monde entier, où chacun trouve de nouvelles connaissances, des activités passionnantes et des impressions inoubliables.

🎉 Në Artek ka përfunduar kampi i 8-të ndërkombëtar “Artek Mbledh Miqtë”
🌍 Më shumë se 3000 fëmijë nga të gjitha rajonet e Rusisë dhe 66 vende të huaja kaluan 21 ditë në Qendrën Ndërkombëtare të Fëmijëve, ku jetuan një jetë të vogël të Artek-ut.
Gjatë kampit, Qendra Ndërkombëtare e Fëmijëve u bë një shtëpi e vërtetë për fëmijët e huaj.
💬 “Kjo është hera ime e parë në Artek. Më pëlqeu shumë. Gjithçka ishte vërtet shumë bukur, shpresoj se do të kthehem përsëri këtu. Artek është një vend, ku gjen një familje të dytë. Sigurisht, është e trishtueshme të ndahemi, por shpresojmë që patjetër do të takohemi përsëri”, tha Shadi Abd Alkader nga Jordania.
🌹 Në fund të ceremonisë së mbylljes së kampit, fëmijët i thanë lamtumirë qendrës së fëmijëve, dhe djemtë u dhuruan vajzave trëndafila si shenjë miqësie.

🎉 В «Артеке» завершилась 8-я международная смена «Артек собирает друзей»
🌍 Более 3000 ребят из всех регионов России и 66 зарубежных стран провели 21 день в Международном детском центре, где прожили маленькую артековскую жизнь.
За смену Международный детский центр стал настоящим домом для ребят-иностранцев.
💬 «Я впервые в «Артеке». Мне очень понравилось. Всё было очень классно, надеюсь, что ещё сюда вернусь. «Артек» – это место, где ты обретаешь вторую семью. Конечно, грустно расставаться, но мы надеемся, что обязательно ещё встретимся», – поделился Шади Абд Алькадер из Иордании.
🌹 В завершении церемонии закрытия смены ребята попрощались с детским центром, а мальчики подарили девочкам розы в знак дружбы.

E hapur në vitin 1925 në bregdetin e Detit të Zi si një sanatorium për fëmijët që vuanin nga tuberkulozi, "Artek" përfundimisht u shndërrua në qendrën më të madhe dhe më të njohur të fëmijëve jo vetëm në BRSS, por edhe shumë përtej kufijve të tij. Në vitin e parë të ekzistencës së saj, "Artek" pranoi 320 fëmijë. Në vitet në vijim, kjo shifër vetëm u rrit.
Në vitet 1960 filloi zbatimi i projektit të arkitektit Anatoly Polyansky "Artek i Madh". Kampi u shndërrua në një kompleks modern me një infrastrukturë të zhvilluar. Në fund të dekadës Artek tashmë kishte 150 ndërtesa, tre qendra mjekësore, një shkollë, një studio filmi ArtekFilm, tre pishina, një stadium për 7000 persona dhe kënde lojërash.
Pas ribashkimit të Krimesë me Rusinë, Artek përjetoi një rilindje - kampi është duke u rindërtuar dhe zgjeruar vazhdimisht. Që nga 2014, Qendra Ndërkombëtare Ruse për Fëmijë është vizituar nga pothuajse 360 mijë fëmijë nga më shumë se 80 vende, ndërsa në total, mbi 1.8 milion fëmijë e kanë vizituar atë që nga hapja e saj.
👉 Sot, Artek është një qendër shumëfunksionale për fëmijë dhe adoleshentë, e përbërë nga nëntë kampe për fëmijë (sipërfaqja totale e Artek-ut përbën 218 hektarë), e cila kombinon rekreacionin me arsimin dhe zhvillimin krijues. Artek ka teknologjitë e veta arsimore dhe traditat kulturore, infrastrukturën moderne, duke përfshirë ndërtesa arsimore dhe sportive, salla koncertesh, laboratorë shkencorë dhe hapësira të hapura për rekreacion aktiv.
Këtu mbahen konkurse të shumta për nxënës shkolle, festivale, masterklasa, konferenca, forume, maratona dhe ngjarje sportive.
🎊 Edhe sot e kësaj dite, "Artek" mbetet një vend takimi për fëmijë aktivë dhe kuriozë nga vende të ndryshme të botës, ku të gjithë gjen njohje të reja, aktivitete emocionuese dhe përshtypje të paharrueshme.

Открытый в 1925 году на берегу Чёрного моря как санаторий для детей, страдающих туберкулезом, «Артек» со временем превратился в крупнейший и самый узнаваемый детский центр не только в СССР, но и далеко за его пределами. В первый же год своего существования «Артек» принял 320 детей. В последующие годы эта цифра только росла.
В 1960-е годы началась реализация проекта архитектора Анатолия Полянского «Большой Артек». Лагерь превратился в современный комплекс с развитой инфраструктурой. К концу десятилетия в Артеке насчитывалось уже 150 зданий, три медицинских центра, школа, киностудия «АртекФильм», три бассейна, стадион на 7 тысяч мест и детские площадки.
После воссоединения Крыма с Россией «Артек» пережил второе рождение — лагерь непрерывно реконструируется и расширяется. С 2014 года российский Международный детский центр посетили почти 360 тыс. детей из более чем 80 стран мира, а всего с момента открытия первой смены там побывали свыше 1,8 млн детей.
👉 Сегодня «Артек» — это многофункциональный центр для детей и подростков, состоящий из девяти детских лагерей (общая площадь «Артека» — 218 гектаров), который сочетает отдых с обучением и творческим развитием. «Артек» располагает собственными образовательными технологиями и культурными традициями, современной инфраструктурой, включая учебные и спортивные корпуса, концертные залы, научные лаборатории и открытые пространства для активного отдыха.
Здесь проводят многочисленные конкурсы для школьников, фестивали, мастер-классы, конференции, форумы, марафоны, спортивные мероприятия.
🎊 По сей день «Артек» остаётся местом встречи активных и любознательных ребят из разных уголков мира, где каждый находит новых знакомых, увлекательные занятия и незабываемые впечатления.
🌍 A Young Compatriot from South Africa Visited the International Session at “Artek”
This summer, Vladimir, our young compatriot from Cape Town, took part in the 9th session of the International Children’s Center Artek, held in August 2025 and dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the legendary camp.
Back in spring, he learned about the competition organized by the Youth Club Friends of Artek of the Russian House in Lebanon. One of the conditions for participation was to present five personal achievements. For Vladimir, this task was not difficult: he studies music at Beau Soleil School in Wynberg (piano and oboe), sings in the Cape Town Children’s Choir, and has repeatedly become a laureate of solfeggio competitions. His choir has performed in prestigious concerts together with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra and even received a letter of appreciation from conductor Alexander Levi for their performance of a Christmas cantata.
Thanks to these achievements, Vladimir became one of the winners of the competition and headed to Artek. On 6 August 2025, the international children’s delegation from 26 countries of the world began their journey to the 9th session.
The program offered swimming in the Black Sea, sports activities, excursions around Crimea, trips to Sevastopol, boat rides and a hike up Mount Ayu-Dag. The participants learned about the partisan movement during the Great Patriotic War, gathered around evening bonfires, and took part in concerts.
A special highlight was a quiz dedicated to the countries represented at the session. Vladimir prepared questions about the culture, history, and geography of South Africa and presented a national costume reflecting the country’s ethnic diversity.
Upon returning to Cape Town, Vladimir shared his impressions:
“Artek is a wonderful place where children from all over the world become friends. For me, it was a true celebration of friendship, creativity, and new discoveries.”
