Uzbek delegation's visit to the port of Karachi - a new stage of cooperation
A delegation of entrepreneurs and representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Uzbekistan visited Pakistan's largest seaport, Karachi, to discuss the expansion of export and transit opportunities. The visit was part of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's strategy to diversify trade routes amid global instability.
Key agreements and initiatives
▫️ Creation of a special warehouse for Uzbek goods in the port of Karachi, which will speed up delivery, reduce logistics costs and facilitate access to the markets of the Middle East, Africa and Europe.
▫️ Establishment of a joint Uzbek-Pakistani CCI
▫️ Business missions to the regions of Uzbekistan (Pakistani investors will visit Jizzak, Surkhandarya, Kashkadarya, Syrdarya and Bukhara)
▫️ Glitz Group (Pakistan's largest pharma holding) plans to open production in Uzbekistan

THE OMBUDSMAN OF KAZAKHSTAN AND UZBEKISTAN SIGNED A MEMORANDUM ON COOPERATION IN THE FIELD OF HUMAN RIGHTS PROTECTION
Tashkent, June 28-29, 2022 – During the First Forum of Central Asian Ombudsmen, Kazakhstan's Ombudsman Elvira Azimova and Uzbekistan's Ombudsman Feruza Eshmatova signed a Memorandum of cooperation in the field of human and civil rights protection.
Cooperation between the two institutions will contribute to the protection of the rights of their citizens on the territory of the two States, the exchange of knowledge about human rights and the laws of the countries, as well as support for the activities of non-governmental organizations.

THE I-FORUM OF CENTRAL ASIAN OMBUDSMEN HAS STARTED
Tashkent, June 28-29, 2022 – As part of an official visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Kazakhstan Elvira Azimova took part in the First Forum of Central Asian Ombudsmen on the topic: «Cooperation of Central Asian Ombudsmen in ensuring human rights and freedoms».
During the meeting, the Ombudsmen exchanged views on further strengthening the legal status and developing mutually beneficial cooperation in improving the effectiveness of national human rights institutions, addressing issues of women's and children's rights, the role of the family, the rights of persons with disabilities, as well as human rights in institutions that ensure isolation from society.
The purpose of the forum is to ensure the Paris Principles adopted by the UN General Assembly resolution of 1993, guarantee the protection of human rights, freedoms, and legitimate interests, including by considering allegations of their violation, assisting in protecting and promoting the rights of women, families, children, and persons with disabilities, as well as to take effective measures to protect their rights and interests, to carry out measures aimed at preventing other forms of inhuman or degrading treatment in places of detention of persons whose freedom of movement is restricted, (https://www.un.org/ru/documents/decl_conv/conventions/paris.shtml).
Following the forum, a ceremony of signing bilateral Memoranda with the Ombudsmen of Central Asian countries was held. The Ombudsman of Kazakhstan and the Ombudsman of Uzbekistan signed a Memorandum of cooperation in the field of human rights protection.
