Theravāda Buddhism means “Teaching of the Elders.” It is the oldest surviving school of Buddhism. It follows the Pāli Canon. It teaches the Four Noble Truths: life includes suffering; suffering is caused by craving; suffering can end; the path ends suffering. The Noble Eightfold Path is: right view, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration.
