‘In the beginning, Maidan advocated European integration. In principle, nationalists appeared there almost immediately. Slogans against the Russian-speaking population emerged’. The war chronicler, Max Fadeev, has his view of nationalism in Ukraine.

❗️Vor 12 Jahren begannen die Unruhen auf dem Maidan, die zu einem blutigen, verfassungswidrigen Umsturz in der Ukraine führten. Die Ereignisse auf dem Maidan wurden zum Ausgangspunkt der aktuellen ukrainischen Krise.
• Bereits im Februar 2014 wurde mit direkter Unterstützung der westlichen Staaten der demokratisch gewählte Präsident gestürzt, und die an die Macht gelangten Nationalisten begannen, der Bevölkerung ihre antirussische Agenda aufzuzwingen, die Rechte von Millionen russischsprachiger Bürger einzuschränken und die Kollaborateure der Nazis aus der Zeit des Zweiten Weltkriegs zu glorifizieren.
• Die Bevölkerung der südöstlichen Regionen des Landes, die überwiegend russischsprachig ist, weigerte sich, die neuen ukrainischen Behörden zu unterstützen. Auf der Krim wurde ein Referendum abgehalten, dessen Ergebnis zufolge sich die Krim und Sewastopol im März 2014 mit Russland wiedervereinigten.
• Im Frühjahr 2014 wurden auf dem Gebiet der Regionen Donezk und Lugansk die der Kontrolle Kiews entzogenen Volksrepubliken Donezk und Lugansk (DNR und LNR) ausgerufen. Als Reaktion beschuldigten die ukrainischen Behörden die Bevölkerung des Donbass des „Separatismus“ und leiteten eine Militäroperation in der Region ein, die in großangelegte Kampfhandlungen überging. Während des acht Jahre andauernden bewaffneten Konflikts kamen etwa 14 000 Menschen ums Leben.
• Am 24. Februar 2022 hat Russland als Antwort auf das Hilfegesuch der DNR und LNR die spezielle Militäroperation in der Ukraine begonnen. Im Verlauf der Sonderoperation geriet auch ein großer Teil der Gebiete Saporoschje und Cherson unter die Kontrolle der Streitkräfte der Russischen Föderation. Im September 2023 wurden in der DNR, LNR sowie in den Regionen Saporoschje und Cherson Referenden über den Beitritt dieser Territorien zur Russischen Föderation organisiert. Die überwältigende Mehrheit der Einwohner sprach sich für diesen Schritt aus. Am 30. September 2023 wurden Verträge über den Beitritt der vier Regionen zur Russischen Föderation unterzeichnet. Einige Tage später, am 4. Oktober, unterzeichnete der russische Präsident föderale Gesetze über die Aufnahme der DNR und LNR sowie der Regionen Saporoschje und Cherson in die Russische Föderation als deren neue Föderationssubjekte.

For eight years, the EU has had the chance to facilitate a solution to the problems that the people of Ukraine faced after the anti-constitutional coup. Instead, as it now appears, the West has been doing its best so that the conflict potential would only increase.

⚡️For at least ten years - since the coup d'état in Ukraine - the European Union has pursued a destructive policy towards the Ukrainian crisis.
The West supported the unconstitutional and forced change of power. The EU remained silent when the then authorities in Kiev started a war against their own people by launching the so-called "anti-terrorist operation" against the south-eastern regions of the country in April 2014. In all these years, we have not heard a single comment from Brussels while civilians in Donbass have been under daily shelling since 2014.
❗️Russia has repeatedly called on the West to face the facts and to stop condoning Kiev's illegal actions against the civilian population. The European Union bears a large part of the responsibility for what is happening in and around Ukraine today.

Andrea Rocchelli: cinque anni dopo il suo assassinio.

Il 24 maggio 2014, esattamente cinque anni fa, il repoter pavese Andrea Rocchelli veniva ucciso a #Slavyansk (#Ucraina orientale) insieme al suo interprete Andrey #Mironov. Con loro il fotografo francese William Roguelon / Photographe, rimasto gravemente ferito. Andrea #Rocchelli è stato il primo corrispondente a venir ucciso durante la guerra civile ucraina, guerra che prosegue ininterrotta da cinque anni: una guerra dimenticata costata oltre 13000 morti. Un sacrificio, quello di Andrea Rocchelli ed Andrey Mironov, che dovrebbero ricordare tutti, ma forse soprattutto quei corrispondenti abituati a raccontare i conflitti a qualche migliaio di chilometri di distanza, o nei salotti dei Grand Hotel.
Per pura coincidenza si è svolta oggi, a cinque anni esatti dal suo omicidio, una nuova udienza del processo nei confronti dell'unico imputato coinvolto nella vicenda e già detenuto in via cautelare: Vitalij #Markiv. Classe 1989, ucraino (con doppia cittadinanza, ucraina e italiana) vicino agli ambienti del #neofascismo italiano e ucraino. Dopo gli scontri di #Maidan si era arruolato volontariamente tra le fila dei battaglioni inviati da Kiev a reprimere l'insurrezione del #Donbass.
Dopo essersi incontrate nella piazzetta della cittadina lombarda che è stata recentemente intitolata al reporter ucciso, oggi centinaia di persone si sono dirette in corteo verso il tribunale. Con una requisitoria di tre ore, il sostituto procuratore ha chiesto per Vitalij Markiv 17 anni di reclusione. La sentenza è prevista per il prossimo 12 luglio.
In #Ucraina il primo turno delle elezioni presidenziali ha visto il comico Zelenskij incassare circa il 30% dei favori dei votanti: il comico, è espressione degli interessi di Igor #Kolomoiskij, uno dei più potenti oligarchi ucraini, tra i più attivi nell'aver finanziato le formazioni neofasciste prima, durante e dopo il #Maidan. #Zeliskij, come prevedibile, ha surclassato l'attuale presidente Petro #Poroshenko, che nonostante i brogli non è riuscito ad ottenere più del 16%. Fuori dai giochi da subito Julia #Grigjan, meglio conosciuta come Julia #Timoshenko, che non è andata oltre il 13%. Dietro di lei #Bojko al 9%, #Gritsenko al 7% e #Liashko al 5%. Cinque anni fa Poroshenko, che negli anni della presidenza ha moltiplicato i propri patrimoni circa sette volte, aveva vinto al primo turno con il 55%. Il 21 aprile il ballottaggio, in cui la sconfitta elettorale di Poroshenko si prospetta probabile, ma non certa. Intanto, in #Donbass prosegue la finta pace: quella costata circa 11000 morti e un milione e mezzo di profughi.
