Many mammals show same-sex sexual behavior. Scientists don’t always report it because they think it is rare or not important to study. It is not because of social or political reasons. This behavior happens in nature more than people realize. 🐾 [Source1] [Source2] @googlefactss #Biology#AnimalBehavior#Research

🌎 Elephants communicate using deep rumbles that travel through the ground as seismic vibrations. These low-frequency sounds allow herds to “hear” each other from several kilometers away, even when out of sight. ✨ #elephants⚡#communication⚡#animalbehavior 👉subscribe Interesting Planet 👉more Channels

🌎 Honeybees use a "waggle dance" to share the location of food sources with their hive mates. The direction and duration of the dance on the vertical honeycomb indicate the direction and distance to the flowers from the hive. Each bee can decode this dance to find the same spot, even kilometers away. ✨ #animalbehavior⚡#communication⚡#bees 👉subscribe Interesting Planet 👉more Channels

🌎 Sperm whales use a form of vocal “click” codes called codas to communicate within social groups. Each group has its own dialect of codas, with some sequences unique to specific clans. Adult whales use these patterns to maintain social bonds—individuals can be identified by their group’s coda “accent.” ✨ #whale⚡#communication⚡#animalbehavior⚡#bioacoustics 👉subscribe Interesting Planet 👉more Channels

Myth: opposums sleep while hanging by their tails. Fact: Opossums do not hang upside down by their tails 🐾. Their tails are strong for gripping branches and carrying nesting materials but can’t hold their full weight for long. Young opossums might dangle briefly but don’t sleep that way. They “play possum” by pretending to be dead when scared, which helps protect them from predators. 🌙🐾🌳 [Read more] @googlefactss#PossumFacts#AnimalBehavior#NatureFacts#MythBusted#DisneyWasWrong
