Lucky break for D4 residents as Sachs Hotel in Donnybrook is no longer under consideration to accommodate asylum seekers. A local residents’ leaflet campaign had warned that 200 to 300 asylum seekers could be housed in “the most affluent part of the city.” However, the Department of Integration has now announced that after assessment, the property has been deemed inappropriate—though it declined to explain why. Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan represents the area as a TD for Dublin Bay South. Upon hearing the news, one local resident said: “To be honest with you, that’s like winning the lottery to me. My house would be of absolutely no value as a result of this centre.” 🔗archive.ph 👉🏻join Late Stage Ireland

Pointless doing aid work if their populations are moving to Europe anyway and refuse to go home willingly. Aid should be conditional on their populations staying where they are. 🔗rte.ie 👉🏻join Late Stage Ireland

"Selling Ireland’s anglophone strengths, the Minister was also keen to dangle the possibility of “stay back” work visas for would-be Indian arrivals with the Republic issuing an eyewatering 12,000 student visas for Indian expats in 2024 alone.' https://www.theburkean.ie/articles/2025/04/17/an-irish-boriswave-james-lawless-floats-visa-bonanza-in-india

An Irish student on reddit who is doing a Masters course at UCD's Smurfit School says he now regrets paying so much to move to Dublin and do the course due to the number of Indians in his class. 🔹 He says at least 70% of the other students are Indian and their lack of proficiency in English means group work "is a mess" with some Indians not bothering to show up for presentations, so he ends up doing most of the work. 🔹 He suspects the English entrance exam is inadequate to filter out poor English speakers or that the Indians 'did something else' to pass it. 🔹 Many of the tutors are also Indian with thick accents making them difficult to understand and they often answer questions in Hindi. 🔹 He says he has seen Indians take pride in cheating, using ChatGPT for entire assignments and having no interest in the coursework—"somehow many still pass." 🔹 An Indian in the replies says UCD actively promotes the courses in India and charges €14k for them. 🔗reddit.com Thanks to Rich Clear for highlighting the post on X. 👉🏻join Late Stage Ireland

Official Ireland likes to insist that there is no evidence migrants have increased crime levels in Ireland. Conveniently, the Rape Crisis Centre stopped publishing data on the background of rape suspects in 2009. 👉🏻join Late Stage Ireland

🏆 Sudan tops the league table of sex offence arrests by nationality in England and Wales with 1.2 per cent of Sudanese people being arrested for sexual assault. 📊 The figure given for the Sudanese population in the Daily Mail's table counts both the men and women so it's actually much worse and probably means about 1 in 50 Sudanese men is arrested for sexual assault in England and Wales. 👨🏾🦱🧔🏽♂️ Sudan is followed by Afghanistan and Eritrea in second and third places. Iran and Iraq are closely battling it out for fourth and fifth places respectively. 🔗dailymail.co.uk 👉🏻join Late Stage Ireland
