An MMA fighter from Straight Blast Gym rescued a woman from an assault at a car park off Roe Lane in Dublin last night. From Andy Murray's Instagram: "As I drove into the car park, something felt wrong. My instincts kicked in, and I quickly put on my shoes, ready for whatever might come next. Then I saw it, a girl caught in a nightmare, cornered and under attack. Without a second thought, I sprinted toward them, my focus only on stopping this guy in his tracks. With a surge of adrenaline, I intervened, pulling him away and holding him down. ‘Run!’ I called to her, and she didn’t hesitate, dashing off to safety. Once he was out cold, I tracked her down, making sure she reached her destination safe and sound." 🔗instagram.com

The foreign man caught on camera posing as a HomeCare worker before allegedly robbing a 89-year-old dementia sufferer in Cabra has been named as Ranilo Canilang and charged with burglary. Described only as a "Dublin dad", the Sunday World reports Canilang has lived in Ireland for 23 years and gave his address as Tyrrelstown. His name suggests he may be from Southeast Asia though—possibly the Philippines, Indonesia, or Thailand—and it's possible he originally came to Ireland on a work visa for the healthcare sector. One member of the public contacted the gardaí and said they recognised him from being a carer for their father while another said they had worked with the man for five years. According to gardaí, the alleged offence was a “premeditated act”. Mr Canilang had seen the alleged victim two years earlier, knew where she lived and “had been watching her house and knew she was on her own”, one garda alleged. 🔗sundayworld.com
