The former Crown Paints factory in Coolock is on fire this evening. The warehouse has been earmarked to accommodate 500 asylum seekers despite protest from locals. Firefighters have had to scale a wall to get at the fire as large concrete barriers are blocking access to the gate since Tuesday to impede protesters setting up another camp after their last one was torn down in the early hours of Monday morning. 🔗x.com 👉🏻join Late Stage Ireland

Martin, 18, told the Opinions Matter podcast on Tuesday that he was the victim of Garda brutality on Monday in Coolock when he was stopped walking home from McDonalds. He said he has received 40 stitches for his injuries and had lumps all over his head from being beaten with a baton. He also said he was pepper sprayed and thumped even when he was secured in the back of a Garda van. Martin said he had nothing whatsoever to do with the protest and will be bringing a complaint to GSOC. A number of commentators have described some of the scenes on Monday in which elderly people and at least one child were pepper sprayed as reminiscent of the thuggery carried out by the RUC in which Garda Commissioner Drew Harris OBE once served. 🔗open.spotify.com 👉🏻join Late Stage Ireland

The organisers of #CoolockSaysNo are calling for as many concerned Irish people as possible to attend their public meeting this Friday at 6pm outside the Crown Paints site on the Malahide Road. They invite local Gardaí to explain the awful scenes of police violence this week. The community is determined to stop the dangerous asylum centre being planted in their area. We encourage all to attend in solidarity #CoolockSaysNo

Full footage of Cllr Patrick Quinlan from the National Party addressing the riot squad in defiance in Coolock today who then pepper spray and shield bash him in response. "The batterings will continue until the plantation is complete ... It makes no difference because in the end truth will prevail, and the Irish people have always had truth on our side, because as Pearse said: God fights with the small battalions." 👉🏻@PatrickQuinlanNP
