We're still waiting on a result in Newbridge. The third recount overnight put the Sinn Féin candidate 1 vote ahead of the Aontú candidate after the last recount had them evens but gave the edge to Aontú with more first preferences. Legal consultations are to be had now. If Sinn Féin can scrape it, there might be more transfers from Aontú for Tom McDonnell giving him the seat. Head of the crew they brought over from Britain to help plant Clonmel because they couldn't find an Irish security firm to do it is Joe Arthur Taylor from SNSG but he also goes by Joe Black. Taylor calls himself a travelling man and says his son plays for Ireland. One of his crew says his parents were from Portlaoise. They seem sympathetic to the protesters who have been trying to reason with them but Taylor says as a single father his son's wellbeing comes first and he needs the money, and it must be good. The Social Democrats EU elections candidate for Dublin, Sinéad Gibney, falls just short of getting her election expenses reimbursed by 440 votes. Gibney needed 18,836 votes but had received 18,396 when she was knocked out on the 15th count with 4.3% first preferences. Gibney told RTÉ it was gut-wrenching as she had put a lot on the line to fund her campaign and will struggle to launch a run for a seat in the Dáil in the next few months. Don't feel too bad though. Councillor elect for Ballymun-Finglas, Gavin Pepper, is to ask Dublin City Council about a legal case against the widespread foreign interference in the local elections under the United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. Albania's General Prosecutor's Office has ordered the detention of 31 individuals accused of participating in a scheme that facilitated the illegal entry of Albanian citizens into the UK and Ireland. >Some 26 of the 31 suspects have been caught so far and one of them, according to the police, is a police officer. Another 35 people were arrested in Spain in a joint operation. >A laboratory for forging documents was also discovered.
