🇷🇺🇨🇬 President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putinheld talks at the Kremlin with President of the Republic of the Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso, who is in Russia on an official visit. 💬Vladimir Putin: Mr President, friends, I would like to welcome you to Moscow once again. In this context, I would like to remind you that you visited our country back during the Soviet era. We have developed very warm and friendly relations with you at the interstate and personal levels. You have made a significant personal contribution to the development of Russian-Congolese relations, attended two Russia-Africa summits and are doing a great deal to further develop our interaction in nearly all spheres. I am referring to the political sphere, and our trade and economic ties have recently been growing visibly. We are grateful to you for our concerted efforts on the international stage. #RussiaAfrica

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s comment for the media following his talks with President of Burkina Faso Ibrahim Traoré(Ouagadougou, June 5, 2024) 💬 President Traoré spoke about the measures his government was taking to address issues such as countering terrorism, restoring the territorial integrity of Burkina Faso, and promoting socioeconomic development. We expressed our full support for these initiatives. <...> We reaffirmed our strong mutual commitment to continue close coordination in international affairs, above all at the United Nations. We appreciate President Traoré’s impartial and fair stance on the events taking place in Ukraine as a result of the hybrid war unleashed by the West against the Russian Federation. Burkina Faso is among a large group of countries that refuse to support anti-Russia initiatives promoted by the West and the Kiev regime. We consistently and firmly support the just demands of African countries that seek to eradicate the remnants of neocolonial practices continued by the former colonial powers. <...> ☝️ The concept of the Alliance of Sahel States is based on the principle of African solutions to African problems. Africans no longer wish to receive any advice from former colonial powers. Read in full #RussiaAfrica#RussiaBurkinaFaso

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’sopening remarks at talks with Foreign Minister of Burkina Faso Karamoko Jean-Marie Traoré (Ouagadougou, June 4, 2024) 💬Our relations are rapidly developing, largely due to the agreements reached during a meeting of our Presidents, Vladimir Putin and Captain Ibrahim Traoré, at the 2nd #RussiaAfrica Summit last year. We are grateful for your efficient assistance in finding solutions that helped us reopen our Embassy in Ouagadougou. We are implementing a programme aimed at resuming the operation of Russian diplomatic offices in Africa. Burkina Faso was the first country where we accomplished this quickly and effectively. 🇷🇺🇧🇫 Our relations have a positive history. They are based on mutual sympathy, trust and mutual respect. We maintain active contacts at all levels. Apart from our Presidents’ meetings in St Petersburg last year, the head of Burkina Faso’s interim government, the chairman of its transitional legislative assembly, and other officials and delegations have made working visits to Russia. Russia's State Duma has a group dedicated to interacting with Burkina Faso and other African countries. Members of the State Duma Dmitry Savelyev and Alexey Chepa, who are present here, are actively working to implement the projects of the People’s Diplomacy Centre. That NGO played a crucial role in establishing the Russian House here, which offers Russian language courses. It will continue to promote our rapprochement and the education of new government members and ministry personnel. Read in full #RussiaBurkinaFaso

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s statement at a reception on the occasion of Africa Day (Moscow, May 23, 2024) 💬Sergey Lavrov:#AfricaDay — a holiday which epitomises the unwavering will of the African peoples and their struggle in pursuit of freedom and human dignity. This year, the holiday coincides with the 20th Anniversary of the African Union’s Peace and Security Council which is one of the main bodies of this pan-African organisation that plays a significant role in shaping the modern African security architecture and the political and socioeconomic integration of the continent’s countries, and ensuring its proper place within the international economic relations system. 🌍 We in Russia are pleased to note that Africa continues to gain political weight and to establish itself as a crucial pillar of the emerging multipolar order. Dynamic integration processes, rapidly growing markets, and business activity make it possible for the African states to play an increasingly meaningful role in international affairs and speak as one. <…> Fighting the newly emerged colonial and neo-colonial practices has come to the forefront today. The Western methods have changed, but the thrust of its policy towards African countries has remained unchanged and is to bring them to its heel and to live at the expense of other countries using more sophisticated forms of exploitation as part of the rules-based order. We remain willing, notwithstanding current circumstances, to support the African countries in their efforts to advance their sovereignty, to address pressing socioeconomic challenges, and to assert Africa’s rightful place as an equal partner in the modern world, including in the efforts to reform the UN Security Council. <…> The potential for Russian-African cooperation across all areas is truly vast. We will continue to work together to bring our relations to the level of a truly strategic partnership. 📄Read in full #RussiaAfrica
