Putting feelings into words can help your brain process them. Saying “I feel angry,” “I feel hungry,” or “I feel love” lowers activity in the amygdala, which reacts strongly to emotions. At the same time, the right ventrolateral prefrontal cortex becomes more active. These brain areas work together, helping the brain manage all types of feelings more clearly. 🧠🗣️💭 [Read more] @googlefactss #BrainFacts#Emotions#AffectLabeling#Neuroscience#MentalHealth

One could hardly tell, but I have been going to therapy for a few years now and then. And there were a few things I brought out in last two weeks, that actually did help me a bit. Some of them intuitively I arrived to on my own, but it really helped to structure it: •First, and the one, that probably every more or less sane person already got, is to limit the amount of time spent swallowing the news to 2 hours a day. I still do more, around 3, but I stopped reading the news all day long and slowly managed to concentrate on other things at least for few hours a day. •Second, is to stop reading or watching anything related to the war one hour before bed. Don’t be like me, don’t watch news or youtube programs right before sleep, and it will spare you some very vivid nightmares. •Third thing, is to change your usual long distance planning routine into a more short term one. For now. I used to write down goals and plan in a long-term schedule towards them within few years. I think it is still important to think about future, plan and dream. But she advised me to stop giving myself time limits and a strict timeframe for global goals in this circumstances, cause it only stresses me out. •However its important to plan every day, week, month. Month is the longest ahead for now. Its about keeping everyday routine, making your bed, going for walks, meeting friends, working, doing some things that bring both use and joy. To think of what I need to do in a small scale to succeed and try to do one bit day by day. •Also for those like me, who lost sense of meaning to their job and in life in general & in addition to that, feel heavily crushed by all the responsibilities and duties of every sort. (Also my big problem even in normal circumstances, is that when I HAVE to do something, I do not feel joy and it becomes heavy and then procrastination is born.) The goal is to think about your everyday deeds regarding to your responsibilities as a small mission, to create a meaning to it: think of positive reasons why you do it: cause you love it, but also to distract people, to make nice human things, to create nice environment, to help the ones around, to keep jobs, to be the source of work, to be kind to people next to you. Anything counts. It seems selfish, but no one will be happier if your life is fucked, you are exhausted and your work is lost etc etc. To be able to help, you need to be in a stable position to help. So im telling mysef this. Could be lying to myself, but yeah. All for now. Stay tuned #uglydiary#ocd😵‍💫

In 1988, a man with severe OCD and a fear of germs shot himself in the head. Miraculously, the bullet did not kill him but changed his mental illness, it was still there but not as severe as before. It is believed the brain injury changed the areas that caused his disorders. 🧠 [Read more] @googlefactss #OCD#MentalHealth#BrainInjury#SuicideSurvival#Psychology#Healing#Unbelievable#DontTryThisAtHome
