The system that was installed in late december got his utility meter read on Feb 8. Can't wait to see his power bill. Despite me designing for a 25% excess power production for the winter, he still needed to buy power. He's got enough battery to get thru the night and almost thru a 2nd night when it's so cold but... the 2nd day when he should be making power it was clouded over during these winter storms. I think if he had a little more battery to get him up to 3 days of autonomy instead of 1.5days, he'd be set. Here's the graph from the system for hte past 30 days. Yellow is when hte house ran directly from solar, blue is when the house pulled from batteries and red is when he had to buy grid power. So he generated and used 1260kwh ($190) and bought 71.2kwh ($10.68). The fly in the ointment here is that his power company charges $35 just to have a meter... so his power bill should be around $46. But he did avoid buying $190 this month.
