🗣 OPINION | The Trump Administration’s Foreign Policy Menu on Venezuela
🇻🇪🇺🇸 Trump’s policies on Venezuela are once again rooted in imperialism, from government-change attempts with “Guaidó 2.0” to harsher sanctions targeting oil. As stated in the latest opinion piece of VA, Ricardo Vaz writes, “Regime change in Caracas remains the ultimate goal for the US, pursued through economic warfare.”
His focus on migration only worsens the crisis, ignoring the root causes. Despite this, the Venezuelan people’s resistance continues.

John Perry and Roger Harris take stock of the Trump administration's Latin America policies and the challenges for leftist governments in the region.
Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua face sanctions, trade barriers, and deportation rollbacks. Despite this, these nations are forging alliances with China, resisting economic pressure, and winning small victories, like Venezuela’s release of 252 citizens from a Salvadoran prison. Meanwhile, Trump’s actions in Brazil and Panama have triggered protests and backlash.

In the USA, after 232 years, they stopped minting the one—cent coin — now prices will be rounded up to 5 cents. 🪙
In the USA, they stopped producing the smallest coin, the penny, which has been minted since 1792. The day before, the last copy was made at the Philadelphia mint, after which the issue was completely stopped.
President Donald Trump previously explained the decision by saying that "the coin is almost not used, but is too expensive": the production of one penny cost the state about 4 cents due to the high cost of copper.
According to the Treasurer of the United States, Brandon Beach, the last issued coins will be sold at auctions. For ordinary circulation, minting ended back in June, but pennies will remain legal tender — there are about 300 billion such coins in circulation.
The abandonment of production will lead to the fact that prices in stores will be rounded to the nearest 5 cents, which causes dissatisfaction with part of the business: the White House has not yet provided clear instructions on how to conduct rounding. According to media estimates, giving up pennies will save about $56 million per year.
