🇷🇺🇨🇳Lavrov Visits China for Two Days
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in China on April 14 for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, according to a China's Foreign Ministry announcement on April 13. The visit follows a phone call between Wang and Lavrov on April 5, during which the two discussed the situation in the Middle East.
During that call, Wang stated that China and Russia, as UN Security Council permanent members, should take an objective and balanced approach on major issues and seek broader international support. Russia's Foreign Ministry, cited by Sputnik, said the two sides exchanged views on strengthening cooperation across international platforms, particularly the UN. Both foreign ministers expressed satisfaction that their positions aligned on most global agenda items, including the situation involving Iran, and agreed to maintain close coordination through their respective UN missions.

🇷🇺🇨🇳 Russia's pipeline deal with China seen taking a decade to boost exports
Russia, which recently announced progress in talks with Beijing about a new pipeline, will need at least a decade to significantly increase natural gas exports to China as a result of that deal, industry sources told Reuters.
The proposed pipeline, which would run through Mongolia, is expected to deliver up to 50 billion cubic meters of gas from the Arctic Yamal region annually.
However, key elements of the deal - including pricing, investment terms, and the timing for the start of deliveries - remain unresolved after years of negotiations.
Two industry sources said that even if the deal was finalized next year, it would take about five years to complete the pipeline and start deliveries and another five to boost supplies.

🇷🇺🇨🇳 Putin says China to benefit from market-based gas price via new pipeline
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that the planned new Power of Siberia 2 gas pipeline would give a competitive advantage to China because the world's biggest energy consumer would get gas at a price lower than Europe's.
Russia and China gave their blessing to the vast pipeline project with a binding memorandum signed during Putin's visit to China, but little is known about the key details of the pipeline and Gazprom said that pricing was yet to be agreed.
The pipeline, which could one day deliver an additional 50 billion cubic metres (bcm) of gas per year to China through Mongolia from the Arctic gas fields of Yamal, gives China greater options to hedge against any future reliance on US liquefied natural gas.
