🎙Russian President Vladimir Putin's remarks at the Plenary Session of the 35th Congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs(March 26, 2026, Moscow) 💬Trust-based, substantive cooperation between the state and business is especially important today, when uncertainty and even stress has sharply increased across the world and on global markets. We all remember the events of 2014, when Russia was compelled – indeed forced, as I have said many times – to take all necessary measures to protect our people in Crimeaand later in southeastern Ukraine. What followed were illegal sanctions. They are illegal – I want to emphasize this – because they were never backed by UN decisions. And now the armed conflict in the Middle East is making an ever more noticeable contribution to the current situation, inflicting significant damage on international logistics, production and cooperation chains. Entire sectors have come under strain – including those linked to the extraction and processing of hydrocarbons and metals, the production of fertilizers, and many other goods and commodities. ☝️The consequences of the conflict in the Middle East are still difficult to predict with any precision. It seems to me that even those directly involved in the conflict are unable to forecast them, and for us this is all the more difficult. Nevertheless, we must live and work under the conditions created by these developments. Comparisons are already being made with the COVID-19 pandemic, which, let me remind you, sharply slowed development across all regions and continents without exception. It is no coincidence that such parallels are now being drawn with the recent pandemic. The events the international community has faced in recent years show that shocks in trade, investment and international relations in general are occurring ever more frequently. They are becoming the new reality, accompanying the transition of the global economy to a new state. ❗️To meet the modern challenges, Russia must be strong, as well as united in its understanding of national interests, in addressing the immediate tasks before us, and in achieving our strategic development goals. *** On a separate note, I would like to say that in today’s world and on global markets, success favors those who invest in technological innovationand continuously work to raise their efficiency to a qualitatively new level. We will continue to encourage business investment in the modernization of enterprises and production capacities on the basis of domestic technological solutions. We will give particular support to the introduction of solutions in three key cross-cutting technologies – artificial intelligence, autonomous systems and digital platforms. This work also offers scope for cooperation with foreign countries, including those from the fast-growing regions of the world – the Asia-Pacific and southern Eurasia. We plan to develop such cooperation further, as was also mentioned today, primarily through #BRICS. Read in full

🇺🇳🇺🇳🇮🇷War in Iran Tests BRICS Unity and India’s “Multi-Alignment” The war involving Iran is exposing internal contradictions within BRICS and putting India’s foreign policy strategy under increasing scrutiny ✏️Ricardo Martins is a Doctor of Sociology and specialist in European and international politics and geopolitics ➡️At the center of the debate is India’s growing strategic partnership with Israel, which contrasts sharply with Iran’s position as a fellow BRICS member. Over the past two decades, cooperation between New Delhi and Israel has expanded significantly in defense, technology, and intelligence, reflecting India’s broader effort to diversify its strategic partnerships. However, the timing of this deepening relationship—coinciding with military operations against Iran—has raised concerns among other BRICS members such as China, Russia, Brazil, and South Africa. India’s reluctance to explicitly condemn the strikes has further highlighted a divergence within the group, challenging its coherence as a political platform representing the Global South. India continues to present itself as a potential leader of the Global South. At the same time, its expanding strategic partnership with Israel places it at odds with political sensitivities and historical experiences shared by most countries in the Global South ➡️This situation brings into question the limits of India’s long-standing strategy of “multi-alignment,” often described as maintaining balanced relations across competing geopolitical blocs. While this approach allows New Delhi to preserve flexibility and pursue national interests, it becomes more difficult to sustain when conflicts directly involve key partners within the same institutional framework. The tension is particularly visible in projects such as the Chabahar Port, which is central to India’s connectivity ambitions in Iran and Central Asia. A deterioration in relations with Tehran could complicate these plans, while perceptions of alignment with Western and Israeli positions may reduce India’s influence among Global South partners. 🟦Looking ahead, the implications for BRICS are significant. The upcoming summit, expected to take place in India, may bring these divisions into the open, especially if member states push for a unified position on the conflict. While BRICS has traditionally functioned as a flexible and pragmatic grouping rather than a formal alliance, its credibility depends on a minimum level of political coordination. The current crisis therefore raises a broader question: whether emerging powers can maintain collective platforms in an increasingly polarized world, or whether national interests will continue to override institutional solidarity. #BRICS#Geopolitics#India#Iran#Politicalnegotiations READ MORE ✅@NewEasternOutlook

✨️ On February 10, the Islamabad Institute of Strategic Studies hosted a roundtable discussion titled "European and Eurasian Security: The View from Moscow and Islamabad," featuring experts from Russia, including IMEMO RAS Director Feodor Voitolovsky and researchers Gleb Makarevich and Maria Khorolskaya. During their presentations, the Russian researchers discussed the historical conditions that led to the collapse of the Euro-Atlantic security system. 🎙 Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks at a presentation of the Department for Partnership with Africa(Moscow, February 4, 2025) 💬Sergey Lavrov: The establishment of this department underscores the significance that Russia’s leadership places on advancing the African aspect of our foreign policy. This priority is enshrined in the Foreign Policy Concept approved by President Putin in March 2023 and has become increasingly prominent in our practical policies in the international arena. Our African friends have always found a reliable and understanding friend and partner in Russia. <...> Russia selflessly supported Africans in their heroic struggle against colonial powers for freedom and independence, and assisted in developing young states, their economies, strengthening their defence capabilities, training national specialists, and resolving daunting social challenges. <...> Africans are playing an increasingly significant role in global politics and the economy, and widely participate in addressing international issues. The collective voice of African countries in world affairs is growing louderand clearer. Russia consistently advocates for strengthening Africa’s position in the multipolar world that is objectively taking shape before our eyes. This world must be consistently based on the principles of the UN Charter in their entirety and interrelation. <...> 🤝 We support the push of our African friends to secure a permanent seat at the UN Security Council and we respect the decisions taken by Africans in this regard. I’m referring to the Ezulwini Consensus and the Sirte Declaration. We welcome the successful development of strong integration entities in Africa. We support our friends’ desire to determine their own future, as they remain guided by the African solutions to African problems principle. Russia-Africa cooperation, which President Vladimir Putin termed strategic in his article “Russia and Africa: Joining Efforts for Peace, Progress and a Successful Future,” is reaching new qualitative heights. The significance of the first and second Russia-Africa Summits, alongside last November’s inaugural ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, cannot be overstated. In conjunction with our African partners, we are implementing agreed measures under the Action Plan adopted in St Petersburg in summer 2023. 📈 Progress is tangible, yet more remains to be done. Even though growing ($25 billion in 2024), our trade and economic cooperation still underperforms relative to its potential. Other African partners post markedly higher figures – a spur to identifying new constructive projects that solidify the material foundations of our strategic partnership. Opportunities abound, particularly in energy, logistics and transport corridors, creation of reliable settlement systems in high-tech domains (including outer space exploration, digital technologies, and nuclear energy), and beyond. We stand ready to collaborate bilaterally and through our like-minded partners and friends in the #EAEU, the #CIS, and the #SCO. Africa’s positions within #BRICS continue to strengthen – a trajectory set to expand further. <...> Russia will continue to support African nations in countering terrorism, including through the establishment of pertinent agencies, ensuring food security, combatting epidemics, and training highly skilled personnel. We are convinced that Africa is our natural ally in our joint endeavours to uphold the UN Charter’s principles of justice and equality. Read in full #RussiaAfrica

#BRICS#Confrontationglobale#Criseoccidentale#Internationalpolitics#Mondemultipolaire#UnitedNations LIRE LA SUITE ✅@NewEasternOutlookFR

Excerpts from Alexander Babakov's speech at the plenary session of theInter-Parliamentary Speakers' Conference: 🔸️The policy of the so-called Western world toward the militarization of the Asia-Pacific region — accompanied by the consolidation of NATO's presence and the formation of new military-political blocks — leads to greater instability and hinders the establishment of a just system of international relations based on the principles of international law and mutual respect; 🔸️The #SCO, #BRICS, #ASEAN and the Eurasian Economic Union (#EAEU) promote a unifying, peaceful agenda; 🔸The United Nations—which is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year — remains the cornerstone of the modern system of international relations. The #UN is a bastion of multilateralism and the primary mechanism for addressing contemporary challenges, such as armed conflicts, poverty, hunger, climate change, terrorism, and inequality between states; 🔸 The UN is currently in crisis. The disappointment in the UN seems to stem from overly high expectations that fail to consider the fact that the UN's effectiveness hinges on the political will, negotiating ability and vision of its member states—qualities that are lacking in our time. The crisis engulfing the United Nations is rooted in the selfish approach of a small group of Western countries, driven by their desire to maintain their "reign" over the world; 🔸Russia will continue to seek a fair and sustainable architecture for international relations, based on the UN and strict adherence to the principles of its Charter in their entirety, comprehensiveness and interconnection.

🎙 FM Sergey Lavrov’s remarks at the reception on Africa Day (Moscow, May 26, 2025) 💬 Sergey Lavrov: Each year in May, we traditionally convene at the Foreign Ministry Mansion to mark Africa Day — a commemoration that holds profound significance not only for Africans but for all humanity. This date symbolises the surmounting of a colonial past and embodies the unwavering resolve of African peoples in their quest for freedom and justice. <...> This year is marked by the 80th Anniversary of the end of the Great Patriotic War and the Second World War, as well as the 65th Anniversary of the UN Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples. This is emphasised in the message from President of Russia Vladimir Putin. These epoch-making events are closely interconnected. On May 10, 1945, in a congratulatory telegram to the head of the Soviet government, Joseph Stalin, Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia remarked: “This victory, bringing us the end of the most savage tyranny the world has ever known, has ushered in the threshold of an era of greater happiness and justice for all peoples threatened with annihilation.” ☝️We remember and honour the hundreds of thousands of Africans who fought in the armies of the anti-Hitler coalition, hastening Victory. In turn, the defeat of Nazism galvanised the national liberation movement, accelerating the collapse of the colonial system. Our nation made an immense contribution to the decolonisation process, grounded in one of the UN Charter’s key principles — the right of nations to self-determination. For many years, we selflessly supported Africans in their struggle for freedom and independence, consistently aiding the formation of young states and their comprehensive socio-economic development. Today, Russia continues to foster the strengthening of Africa’s position as a unique and influential centre of global development. In particular, we support African aspirations to secure a permanent ‘seat’ within the UN Security Council. We will further assist interested African nations in enhancing their defence capabilities, countering terrorism, and ensuring food and energy security. In recent years, the African continent, asserting itself as one of the pillars of a sustainable multipolar world order, has achieved impressive results. Such progress has largely been made possible by the collective will of Africans to address shared challenges and pursue common goals. We welcome the dynamic development of integration processes, which strengthen solidarity across the continent and amplifyitsvoice. The African Union plays a pivotal role in this regard. <...> 🤝Russia remains a reliable and steadfast partner to African nations in strengthening their sovereignty, the foremost threat to which remains persistent neocolonial practices. <...> One of the most dynamic areas of Russian-African cooperation remains education. Today, more than 32,000 African students are enrolled in our universities. Our collaboration with the African Union and other multilateral structures on the continent is expanding actively. We see significant potential in fostering their ties with Eurasian integration bodies the #EAEU, #CSTO, and #SCO. Naturally, we wholeheartedly support the development of cooperative relations between the African Union and #BRICS. Our commitment to deepening a multifaceted strategic partnership with Africa is reflected in the establishment of a new structural unit within the Russian Foreign Ministry — the Department of Partnership with Africa. On the agenda is the preparation of the second ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, to be held this year in an African country. There is no doubt that its outcomes will contribute to the substantive groundwork for the third Russia-Africa Summit, planned for 2026 — also on the African continent. <...> I would like to once again extend my congratulations on this occasion and wish the peoples of Africa and all those present peace, health, and prosperity. ✨️ On February 9, Ambassador Albert P. Khorev participated in a seminar titled "The Legacyof Russian Diplomacy: Current Statusand Prospects for Pakistan-Russia Relations,” hosted by the Islamabad Policy Research Institute. The event was timed to coincide with #DiplomatsDay and featured an exhibition highlighting the key milestones in the development of Russian diplomacy. In his speech, Ambassador Khorev provided a detailed overview of the pivotal events that have shaped the Russian diplomatic service and the individuals who have played a prominent role in it. ❗️Albert P. Khorev highlighted Russia's current foreign policy priorities: upholding the principles and goals of the UN Charter, forming a multipolar world order based on sovereign equality, combating neo-Nazism and neo-colonialism, preserving the memory of World War II, and preventing the rewriting of its history. 🤝 The Ambassador noted that, from 1970 to 1990, the Soviet Union provided Pakistan with assistance in developing its industry. This included the construction of the Pakistan Steel Mills and the Guddu, Jamshoro, and Muzaffargarh thermal power plants. 🇷🇺🇵🇰 Since the 2000s, when Russia, the successor state to the USSR, began pursuing an active, multi-vector foreign policy and increased cooperation with countries in the Global South, the two countries have established a dynamic political dialogue and regular high-level contacts. The Russian Ambassador praised the two countries' coordinated efforts on the international stage, particularly at the #UN and #SCO. He emphasized Russia and Pakistan's commitment to combating international terrorism, extremism, neo-colonialism, neo-Nazism, Islamophobia, and discrimination based on nationality or religion. ✍️ Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’sarticle"Russia and Venezuela: Friendship and Partnership Spanning Years and Kilometres"for Cancilleria, a Venezuelan Foreign Ministry publication (March 14, 2025) READ IN FULL 🇷🇺🇻🇪 March 14 is an important date for Russia and Venezuela as they mark 80 years of diplomatic relations. Over the decades, the relations between our two countries enjoyed an upward momentum, adding mutually beneficial cooperation and trust-based dialogue rooted in our convergent political, spiritual and moral tenets to the bonds of friendship and mutual sympathy between our nations. This relationship evolved into a strategic partnership at the turn of the century. It hinges on our unwavering commitment to the principles and values of equality, mutual trust, non-interference in one another's domestic affairs, as well as supporting each other in matters related to respecting sovereignty and promoting national interests. <...> March 1945 marks the latest landmark event, and reference point, in the diplomatic relations between Moscow and Caracas. This is when the two countries established regular political dialogue and started exchanging delegations, expanding trade, while also promoting contacts in culture and research. <...> Today, Russian-Venezuelan relations are developing on a firm basis of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, which was signed in 1996, and a common foreign policy philosophy focused on establishing and protecting national sovereignty and maintaining a balance of interests in international relations. Our countries are committed to the creation of a more just polycentric world order based on the principles of the UN Charter in their entirety and as a whole, and the right of nations to independently determine their paths and models of political and socioeconomic development 👉#UNCharterIsOurRules Our countries reject Western diktat and hegemonic actions. They are working closely together against the modern practices of colonialism, and are in the vanguard of fighting against any manifestations of racism, xenophobia and neo-Nazism. We preserve our historical memory and protect our nations’ heritage from the attempts to falsify history undertaken by those who would benefit from forgetting or distorting the facts of aggression and genocide. ❗️ We are grateful to our Bolivarian friends for their understanding of the causes and goals of the special military operation in Ukraine. <...> Russia and Venezuela stand together in defence of the principles and norms of international law on multilateral platforms. They are acting together to derail the attempts of a narrow group of Western states to impose their rules-based order on the international community. <...> We attach great importance to the further strengthening of our cooperation to stabilise the global energy market, including within OPEC+ and the Gas Exporting Countries Forum. We value Venezuela’s interest in deepening cooperation with #BRICS – a group of counties advancing the interests of the Global South and East, and a pillar of the multipolar world order. We commend Caracas’s vigorous role in consolidating centripetal trends across Latin America and the Caribbean. Venezuela stands as the epicentre for progressive leftist forces on the continent. We acknowledge with appreciation its support for Russia’s efforts to expand collaboration with the region. <...> 🤝 Based on the experience we have accumulated in our relations and by being creative in building on this legacy, we reaffirm our commitment to further strengthening our friendship and promoting lasting, stable, predictable ties. We look to the future with optimism. We are certain that our bilateral relations will keep expanding into new domains, while our alliance on the foreign policy front will enable us to achieve our objectives. Celebrations of the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and in WWII will definitely mark a major milestone in our bilateral agenda. #RussiaVenezuela
