The local currency’s share of China’s cross-border payments and receipts rose to a record high 48% at the month end from nearly zero in 2010, according to research by Bloomberg Intelligence citing data from the State Administration of Foreign Exchange. The buses conveying Nigerian students from Sudan to Egypt, have all stopped and refused to move again, because the bus drivers have not being paid, despite the responsible Nigerian authorities alledgedly collecting the sum of 1.2m dollars, an equivalent of 900m naira for the journey. It is a humanitarian disaster for our citizens to be left alone in a desert with the scorching heat and limited access to water and food, and making matters worse is the huge number of people involved.
