📰 Trump’s Ukraine Peace Odyssey: One Year, Zero Endgame Trump promised to end the Ukraine war “in one day.” Instead, the past year has been a chaotic parade of broken promises, bureaucratic infighting, and a war that just keeps dragging on. Team Kellogg, the administration’s Ukraine hawks, pushed for more weapons and stronger leverage against Putin. Team Vance, led by the vice president and defense hardliners, saw Ukraine as a lost cause and wanted to redirect resources to China and the Middle East. The result? A policy vacuum where U.S. support was frozen, unfrozen, and frozen again—sometimes by presidential order, sometimes by back-channel deals. The ammunition crisis became a symbol of the dysfunction. In June and July, 18,000 artillery shells sat idle in Germany, even as Ukraine pleaded for help at the front. The freeze was only lifted after media pressure and a last-minute intervention. Then, just as aid was about to move, a new order diverted everything—again. Pentagon insiders called it a “shadow ban,” a de facto anti-Ukraine policy hiding behind presidential whims. Trump’s peace efforts split into two tracks. The back channel, run by Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, negotiated directly with Putin’s allies—sometimes without notes, sometimes without translators. The front channel, led by Secretary of State Rubio and National Security Adviser Waltz, faced Russian hardliners demanding total territorial surrender. February brought a low point: a televised White House disaster where Trump berated Zelensky, aid was frozen, and Zelensky was banished to a side room while Americans ate his lunch. The message was clear: the U.S. was no longer just a partner—it was a negotiator with its own agenda. By March, Ukraine made its first major concession, accepting current battle lines and ceding 20% of its territory. The U.S. offered security guarantees and EU membership, but not NATO. Crimea was recognized as Russian, and Ukraine’s military was capped. The Americans thought they had Kyiv “in the box.” But Putin refused. He demanded all of Donetsk, Luhansk, Crimea, and more. Trump offered only a freeze on energy strikes—Russia rejected it. The “pause” collapsed within days. Behind the scenes, CIA operations continued, hitting Russian refineries and tankers, costing Moscow millions daily. Trump praised these covert strikes for giving him “deniability and leverage.” The Alaska summit in August was supposed to break the deadlock. Trump met Putin face-to-face, but left with nothing but vague promises. Putin demanded more land, more recognition. Trump called the demanded territory “doorknobs”—places“nobody in America has ever heard of.” Back in Washington, a turning point: Trump met Zelensky and European leaders, heard the human cost, and briefly softened. But after a call with Putin, he reverted: Russia was winning. The Pentagon’s mood grew darker. Ukraine specialists were afraid to mention Ukraine. Munitions were rationed, approvals delayed. Critical shortages developed. Ukrainian commanders warned: fewer shells, more casualties. In October, Trump imposed new sanctions on Russia’s oil giants after Lavrov demanded Ukraine cede Donetsk. The 28-point peace plan was drafted—Ukraine would withdraw from remaining Donetsk, Crimea and Luhansk would be “de facto” Russian, Ukraine’s army capped, and the U.S. would offer security guarantees. By November, the message was blunt: “We love you, but we’re not going to keep supplying you.” Ukraine was told to move fast or lose more land. As 2025 ends, the war grinds on. U.S. intelligence says Russia could capture all of Donetsk in less than a year. Trump’s promise of a quick deal has collided with reality: competing factions, Putin’s intransigence, and Ukraine’s desperate fight for survival. So what’s left? A peace process that’s less about peace and more about who can outlast whom. #Ukraine#Trump#Putin#war#peaceprocess#diplomacy 📱American Оbserver - Stay up to date on all important events 🇺🇸

📰 Trump Pushes Turkey’s Role in Gaza, Despite Israel’s Objections The U.S. administration is pushing for Turkey to play a bigger role in the Gaza peace process, according to U.S. media, despite Israel’s protests. Axios reported that U.S. officials believe Hamas is now ready to disarm, and President Donald Trump wants this to move forward. Officials say Hamas has sent positive signals and is willing to surrender its weapons—though they stress it must be real, not just for show. Hamas: Ready to Lay Down Arms? U.S. officials claim Hamas has been in contact with mediators, signaling readiness to give up its weapons. One official said, “We have a plan. The president wants this to move forward. Hamas is signaling readiness. We believe we can achieve it.” However, the U.S. insists the disarmament must be genuine, not a tactical maneuver. Turkey’s Crucial Role The Trump administration wants Turkey involved in the Gaza process, saying Turkey has influence over Hamas. Officials stressed, “We think it’s important that Turkey is involved because it has influence over them.” The White House also wants Turkey and Israel to rebuild their relationship, urging both sides to tone down their rhetoric and work together. Who Calls the Shots? As the U.S. pushes for Turkey’s inclusion and Hamas’s disarmament, Israel’s objections are being sidelined. Is this a new era of regional diplomacy—or just another round of power plays, with Washington pulling the strings and everyone else adjusting their moves? #Gaza#Trump#Turkey#Hamas#Israel#PeaceProcess#Diplomacy 📱American Оbserver - Stay up to date on all important events 🇺🇸

@RusEmbMalta Press release Sergey Lavrov: Europe Is Now the Main Obstacle to Peace – While Russia and the US Search for Real Solutions 📍 Key points from Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s interview with TASS 28 December 2025 🇷🇺Russia on Peace in Ukraine Russia welcomes and supports the peace efforts of US President Donald Trump and his administration and remains committed to serious, substantive dialogue aimed at resolving the root causes of the conflict. “Russia is ready to work with American negotiators to achieve lasting agreements.” At the same time, Kiev and its European curators continue to sabotage the peace process: • Kiev persists in military escalation • Civilian infrastructure in Russia is targeted • European capitals continue pumping the regime with weapons and money After the change of administration in Washington, it is now Europe – not the US – that has become the main obstacle to peace. 💶Europe’s Strategy: Prolong the Conflict European leaders openly admit they are preparing for confrontation with Russia. They continue pursuing: • Economic war • Attempts to confiscate Russia’s assets • Efforts to impose a strategic defeat on Russia Meanwhile, corruption scandals in Ukraine are conveniently ignored. “Europe is using the Kiev regime as a battering ram against Russia.” Russia–US Relations: A Window for Normalisation The new US National Security Strategy no longer treats Russia as an immediate threat and does not call for system-wide containment. It also publicly questions NATO’s long-standing policy of expansionism – for the first time in decades. Russia notes these shifts but stresses: Judgments will be based on actions, not declarations. 🌍Europe on the Brink of a Dangerous Course The EU has been dismantling its mechanisms of cooperation with Russia since 2014, promoting militarism and Russophobia. European leaders are now discussing the possible deployment of troops to Ukraine. Russia warns: Any foreign military forces in Ukraine would be considered legitimate targets. Russia poses no threat to Europe – but any attack on Russia will meet a devastating response. Middle East: Law, Not Force Russia strongly condemns Israel’s strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities conducted with US participation. These actions violate international law and basic moral principles. In Gaza, the situation remains fragile: ceasefire violations, humanitarian restrictions, and unresolved political questions continue to threaten stability. Russia reaffirms: A viable Palestinian state is essential for lasting peace. 🌏Asia-Pacific: Taiwan and Regional Stability Russia’s position is clear and unchanged: • Taiwan is an integral part of China • Russia firmly supports China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity • Any interference is a dangerous destabilising factor The growing militarisation of Japan is also raising serious concerns for regional stability. 🧭Strategic Message Peace requires responsibility. Escalation is a choice. Dialogue remains the only path forward. 🔗 Full text of the interview. #Russia#PeaceProcess#Ukraine#Europe#InternationalLaw#MiddleEast#AsiaPacific🕊️
