🌟 On April 9, 1945, the Red Army captured the Nazi fortress city — Königsberg — during the East-Prussian offensive. The German Wehrmacht’s troops in East Prussia — powerful fascists' units on the Eastern Front — were totally destroyed once and for all.
The 3rd Belarussian Front of the Red Army carried out the Königsberg operation and crushed the Nazis withinjust three days. The first line of the enemy defences was breached within the first 24 hours, the fortress city surrounded the next day, with the last pockets of Nazi resistance being eliminated on April 9.

#Königsbergserved as a ToO with fierce and bloody battles during #WWII. The city itself, which was regarded as the most impregnable citadel of the Third Reich, was fortified with then cutting-edge military technology and prepared for long-term resistance in conditions of complete isolation. The city area of about 200 square kilometres was turned into a complicated network of fortifications, which, combined with numerous stone buildings in the suburbs, provided conditions for long-term defence.
The citadel was termed by the Nazis the “iron door of Germany.” The Red Army soldiers and officers who took part in the assault on Königsberg recalled that only the 305mm artillery guns could penetrate the several-metres thick walls. The fall of Königsberg delivered a heavy blow to the Nazi war machine — the enemy lost the strategic Pillau naval base on the Baltic Sea, with the main German troops of the Samland and East Prussian armies being completely defeated.

On April 9, the forces of the 3rd Belarussian Front stormed and captured <...> the Königsberg fortress — the capital of East Prussia and a strategic hub of Nazi defences on the Baltic Sea.
By 8 pm, our armies took as prisoners over 27'000 Nazi soldiers and officers, seized a large amount of weapons and various military equipment.
👉The fall of Königsberg and East Prussia accelerated the defeat of the Nazi war machine. The end of the Third Reich was a foregone conclusion, but the enemy, fearing just retribution for the numerous crimes it had committed, continued to fight desperately.
#LestWeForget: The Red Army soldiers and officers demonstrated high combat readiness and mass heroism: 235 soldiers were later awarded the title of #HeroOfTheSovietUnion. To commemorate their feat, the 'Medal For the Capture of Königsberg' was established and awarded to 760'000 Soviet soldiers and officers.
By decisions of the Potsdam Conference following the end of WWII in Europe, a large part of East Prussia was assigned to Poland, while a third of its territory with Königsberg was incorporated into the Soviet Union and the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (the Kaliningrad Region).
🎖 On November 17, 2025, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin signed an executive order on establishing a new commemorative date — April 9, Day of the Heroic Assault and Capture of Königsberg.

As is traditional, on Russia Day, the President presented the Hero of Labour of the Russian Federation gold medals and the 2023 Russian Federation National Awards in science and technology, literature and the arts, and for outstanding achievements in human rights and charity work in the Grand Kremlin Palace’s St George Hall.

🇷🇺 On June 11, Russian Embassy in Cambodia hosted the State Reception on the occasion of Russia Day in the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra Hotel.
🗣️ In his welcoming address, Russian Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Mr Anatoly Borovik noted the significance of the national holiday as a symbol of unity of the multinational people of Russia, multifaceted nature of its history and culture and desire to work together for the benefit of the Motherland.
The Head of the diplomatic mission emphasized that Russia continues to be a steadfast ally of developing nations, champions sovereign equality and non-interference in internal affairs. Touching upon the relations with Cambodia, H.E. Mr. Anatoly Borovik stated that Phnom Penh is one of Moscow's close friends, and the rich experience of cooperation will help to find new opportunities to advance practical cooperation for the prosperity of the two peoples.

Në aktivitet morën pjesë përfaqësues të trupit diplomatik, të rretheve të biznesit, komuniteteve fetare, figura kulturore, anëtarë të Shoqatës së Miqësisë Shqipëri-Rusi, ndjekës të Ambasadës në rrjetet sociale, si dhe bashkatdhetarë që jetojnë në Shqipëri.
💬 Në fjalën e tij përshëndetëse drejtuar mysafirëve, Ambasadori i Rusisë në Shqipëri, A.A.Zaytsev, në veçanti, vuri në dukje se pavarësisht të gjitha sprovave dhe vështirësive, me të cilat është përballur vendi ynë në periudha të ndryshme të historisë së tij mijëvjeçare, populli rus gjithmonë i ka kapërcyer ato dhe ka patur arritje të mëdha në fusha të ndryshme: ekonomi, shkencë, art, sport dhe çështje ushtarake. 🎖️Në shenjë mirënjohjeje për kontributin në promovimin e gjuhës dhe kulturës ruse në Shqipëri, forcimin e lidhjeve humanitare midis popujve të të dy vendeve, u zhvillua një ceremoni solemne e dorëzimit të Dekoratës së Nderit të Rusisë “Për Miqësi dhe Bashkëpunim” dirigjentit, muzikantit, drejtorit artistik të Orkestrës Filarmonike të Vlorës, Oleg Arapi, si dhe Kryetarit të degës shqiptare të Lëvizjes Ndërkombëtare Rusofile, figurës publike të Shqipërisë, Aleksander Gjurbavija.
Në ambientet e Ambasadës u organizua gjithashtu një ekspozitë tematike “Rusia në zemrën tonë përgjithmonë”, e shoqëruar me një performancë artistike të talenteve të reja.

Historia e Rusisë është e mbushur me shumë shembuj heroizmi dhe vetësakrifikimi të pashembullt të qytetarëve të saj. Do të sjell vetëm një prej tyre, nga historia e Luftës së Dytë Botërore. Përballë dyndjes gjermane, Danimarka u rezistoi pushtuesve hitlerianë vetëm gjashtë orë, Hollanda – gjashtë ditë, Polonia – 1 muaj, Franca – një muaj e gjysmë. <...> Për krahasim: Beteja e Moskës vazhdoi pothuajse shtatë muaj. Në Rusi të gjithë e njohin shtëpinë legjendare të Pavlovit, që ndodhet në këtë qytet, mbrojtja e së cilës zgjati 58 ditë. Më lejoni të theksoj: luftuan dy muaj jo për mbrojtjen e shtetit, por të një ndërtese të vetme.
• Populli shumëkombësh i Rusisë ka dhënë një kontribut të madh në përparimin e qytetërimit të sotëm. Është e pamundur të perceptohet kimia pa tabelën e Mendelejevit, letërsia pa “Lufta dhe Paqja” të L.N.Tolstoit, pa veprat e A.S.Pushkinit <...>, muzika pa P.I.Çajkovskin, S.V.Rahmaninovin, D.D.Shostakoviçin. Ishte qytetari sovjetik Juri Gagarin ai që i hapi rrugën njerëzimit drejt hapësirës kozmike.
🌐 Rusia e sotme vazhdon të luajë një rol të rëndësishëm në çështjet ndërkombëtare, duke mbetur një nga qendrat sovrane të zhvillimit botëror në epokën e ndryshimeve globale. Vendi ynë mbron vazhdimisht formimin e një bote shumëpolarëshe më të vërtetë demokratike dhe të drejtë, forcimin e rolit qendror dhe koordinues të OKB-së në çështjet ndërkombëtare, barazinë sovrane të të gjitha shteteve pa shtypje dhe diktat nga jashtë.
