🇷🇺April 12 — International Day of Human Space Flight 🇷🇺
🚀On April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first person to journey into outer space aboard Vostok-1. His mission lasted only 108 minutes, but it changed the course of history forever.
🔭The chief architect of the Soviet space program was the brilliant Soviet scientist Sergey Korolev.
👏After the first flight new achievements soon followed. In 1965, Alexei Leonov became the first person to conduct a spacewalk. Valentina Tereshkova became the first woman in space, proving that space is open to everyone.
🌠We should also remember the theorists without whom spaceflight would have been impossible. The Russian scientist Konstantin Tsiolkovsky was one of the pioneers of space flight and the founding father of modern rocketry and astronautics.
🌍The achievements of the Soviet space program are of immense importance for all humanity.
💫May the striving of man to reach the stars never fade!

#WFP condemns attacks on aid convoys, facilities in #Sudan
The World Food Programme has condemned a series of recent attacks on its trucks, assets, and facilities in Sudan, warning that the incidents have killed and injured humanitarian workers while disrupting delivery of life-saving food assistance to vulnerable civilians.
In a statement, the agency said four incidents over the past 10 days targeted humanitarian operations as aid workers were distributing food assistance. WFP described the attacks as unacceptable and stressed that humanitarian personnel and assets must never be targeted.
The organization also rejected what it called false social media claims alleging its trucks were transporting non-humanitarian items, saying such reports are unfounded and increase risks to aid workers and operations.

Seized Aid back in WFP hands, #Somalia confirms
Somalia’s federal government said on Monday that commodities removed from a warehouse affected by port expansion activities in Mogadishu have been returned to the World Food Programme (#WFP), following recent reports that a storage facility at the Mogadishu Port was demolished and supplies seized.
“The commodities removed from the warehouse have been fully returned to the World Food Programme,” the government said in a statement, adding that it “takes full responsibility for this unfortunate situation and regrets that it occurred.”
The government's action prompted the U.S. State Department to suspend humanitarian assistance to the federal government, accusing local officials of destroying a U.S.-funded warehouse and “illegally seizing” 76 metric tonnes of food aid intended for vulnerable populations.

One-third of #Somalis to face hunger in March: #UN officials
Some 6.5 million people, or about a third of Somalia's population, will face crisis levels of hunger through March, an increase of 1.7 million since January, UN officials warned.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday at the UN headquarters via video link, World Food Programme (#WFP) Director of Emergency Preparedness and Response Ross Smith said the latest Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (#IPC) report for Somalia, released on Tuesday, confirmed fears that the humanitarian situation in Somalia has significantly worsened.
"Of these, two million of the most vulnerable women and children are expected to face severe hunger," with over 1.8 million children under the age of 5 to face acute malnutrition in 2026, he said.
Smith said Somalia is in the midst of a very complex hunger crisis, where two rainy seasons have failed, conflict and insecurity....
