Office Slang: Understanding Work Jargon No matter if you work in an office or remotely, you can't escape "work" slang. Let us refresh your knowledge by explaining popular office words. 🔹Android. An employee who does everything by the book, lacking creativity. Works mechanically, like a machine. Any mistake can cause a delay. 🔹Update. Sharing the latest information or status about a task or project. For example: "Urgent update: the client made more changes!" 🔹Approve. To agree and confirm a document. Used in phrases like: "Get the new design approved by the client." 🔹ASAP. As soon as possible. It shows that the information is needed urgently. Can be used with "super" or "mega" for emphasis. 🔹Attach. A file sent with an email. It can be any document, photo, or video. Also used as "attached." 🔹Brainstorm. A meeting to come up with many ideas on a topic. No criticism is allowed during this meeting. 🔹Deadline. The last date to complete a task. A scary word for those who procrastinate. 🔹HR. Human resources. The department that deals with employees. 🔹Commit. To promise to complete a task by a certain time. 🔹Meetup. An informal meeting to discuss a specific issue. 🔹Onboarding. The process of helping a new employee adjust to the company. 🔹Dive in. To deeply study reports or important documents. 🔹Share. To give access to a resource. 🔹Review. The process of checking or evaluating something. 🔹Roadmap. A visual plan for a product or project. 🔹Sync. A short daily meeting where everyone shares their tasks and progress. 🔹Flood. Since the Industrial Revolution, our education system has focused on success. We push ourselves and our children to compete for better grades and jobs. This pressure can lead to stress and mental health problems. In the UK, mental health issues are a major cause of sickness absence, costing employers a lot of money. Studies show that happiness is important for success. When we feel positive, our brains work better. Positive emotions help with motivation, memory, and problem-solving. For example, children do better in subjects they enjoy because they are happier. To focus on happiness first, what should we do? 🔹Engage meaningfully: Use your strengths to help others and find meaning in your life. 🔹Practice mindfulness: Focus on the present moment to feel happier. 🔹Strengthen friendships: Spend time with friends and family, especially during tough times. 🔹Develop soft skills: Improve your communication and empathy skills, as they are in high demand in the job market. Он все ближе и ближе! ЕГЭ по английскому (Спойлер, глобальных изменений нет, хоть нас и пугали повышенной сложностью). Экзамен по английскому языку в 2025 году пройдет в два этапа: письменная часть состоится 5 июня, а устная – 10-11 июня. На выполнение письменной части отводится 3 часа 10 минут, на устный этап – 17 минут. Если ученики не сдадут экзамен, они смогут пересдать письменную часть 3 июля и устную 4 июля. Структура экзамена: ЕГЭ включает 42 задания разного уровня сложности: 18 по грамматике и лексике, 9 по аудированию, 9 по чтению, 2 по письменной речи и 4 по говорению.
