#BRICS2024 🎙 President of Russia Vladimir Putin's remarks at the Plenary Session of the XVI BRICS Summit in the BRICS Plus/Outreach format (Kazan, October 24, 2024) 👉 In full 💬 Vladimir Putin: I am delighted to welcome all of you to the BRICS Plus/Outreach-format meeting. This inclusive platform has proven its worth by enabling the BRICS group participants to engage in a direct and open dialogue with their friends and partners. <...> According to our agenda, we will discuss the most pressing issues the international community is facing today, including sustainable development, eradication of poverty, climate change adaptation, exchanging technology and knowledge, fighting terrorism and transborder crime. We will focus particularly on the peaceful resolution of conflicts, certainly including a serious discussion of the deteriorating situation in the Middle East. <...> #MultipolarWorld 🌐 All our countries share similar aspirations, values and a vision of a new democratic world order that reflects cultural and civilisational diversity. We are confident that such a system should be guided by the universal principles of respect for the legitimate interests and sovereign choice of nations, respect for international law and a spirit of mutually beneficial, honest co-operation. ☝️ The transition to a more just international system is not easy. Its development is being hampered by forces whose thinking and actions continue to be aimed at dominating everything and everyone. Under the guise of a rule-based order they are imposing on the world, they are actually attempting to contain growing competition and prevent the independent development of countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America that they cannot control. <...> #MiddleEast The current round of the Palestinian-Israeli confrontation is probably one of the most sanguinary in the long list of conflicts. Over 40,000 people, most of them civilians, have been killed in the ongoing hostilities in the Gaza Strip. I would like to emphasise that we have always come out against the use of terrorist methods. <...> Since the start of the escalation, we have joined forces with our BRICS and other partners to contribute to a settlement. <...> I would like to repeat that the main condition for restoring peace and stability in the Palestinian territories is the realisation of the two-state formula approved by the UN Security Council and General Assembly resolutions. <...> #EurasianSecurity The countries represented in this room have immense opportunities and resources at their disposal and play a prominent role on the international stage. They have been using their standing to enhance global security and promote sustainable development around the world. <...> Russia advocated the idea of creating an inclusive system of equitable and indivisible security for Eurasia free from any discrimination. <...> #UnitedNations 🇺🇳 The UN must retain its central role in efforts to maintain peace and security and facilitate sustainable and steady development. To ensure the effective functioning of the UN in the future, we believe it is important to adapt its structures to the realities of the 21st century, expanding the representation of countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America, including those whose leaders are present here, in the Security Council and other key international bodies. An effort to reform UN development institutions and global financial structures has long been overdue. <...> The founding fathers of the United Nations believed that its purpose was to enable nations to come together and agree on joint actions. *** ❗️ Russia, like all BRICS countries, is open to cooperation with all countries of the Global South and East to promote inclusive and sustainable development and ultimately build a better world.

🇹🇷🏴Türkiye-NATO: Strategic Security Or Strategic Revision? As Ankara debates its future in the Atlantic alliance, the question is no longer rhetorical but strategic: is NATO still Türkiye’s security anchor, or has it become a constraint on its ambitions? ✍️Alexander Svarants is a PhD in Political Sciences, Professor, and Expert in Turkish Studies and Middle Eastern Countries. ➡️Türkiye’s ambivalent relationship with the West is rooted in history. During World War II, Ankara pursued what Moscow later described as “hostile neutrality,” maneuvering between Germany and the Allied powers before formally aligning with Britain and the United States in 1944. The onset of the Cold War and Soviet territorial claims pushed Türkiye decisively into the Western camp, culminating in its accession to NATO in 1952. In exchange for security guarantees under the US nuclear umbrella and protection against the USSR, Ankara accepted deep political and military integration with the West. Over time, however, this integration came at a price: constraints on sovereign decision-making and heavy reliance on Washington’s strategic calculations. Military coups in the latter half of the twentieth century, often linked by critics to Western influence, reinforced perceptions that NATO membership entailed political as well as military dependency. Ankara’s geopolitical ambitions are not widely supported by the US and Europe: none of these powers are interested in the emergence of a strong and independent Türkiye as a new geopolitical center ➡️The post-Cold War environment altered Türkiye’s strategic weight within the alliance. As NATO expanded into the Black Sea region and the Middle East’s geopolitical landscape shifted, Ankara’s role as the indispensable “southern anchor” diminished. Simultaneously, Türkiye’s own ambitions grew. Doctrines such as “Neo-Ottomanism,” “Neo-Pan-Turkism,” and the “Blue Homeland” concept reflect aspirations to project influence across the Eastern Mediterranean, the Balkans, the Caucasus, Central Asia, and parts of the Middle East. Yet these ambitions do not always align with US or European priorities. Intra-bloc tensions—most visibly with Greece—underscore NATO’s internal contradictions. Disputes over Cyprus, maritime boundaries, and defense spending reveal an alliance in which member states often perceive each other as strategic competitors. For some Turkish analysts and retired military officials, NATO increasingly appears as a relic of unipolarity, ill-suited to a multipolar world in which Türkiye seeks greater autonomy. 🟦At the same time, Ankara’s room for maneuver remains constrained by practical realities. Despite progress in its domestic defense industry, Türkiye still depends on Western technologies for advanced platforms, including next-generation fighter aircraft. Hopes for F-16 upgrades, F-35 participation, or Eurofighter procurement illustrate the limits of strategic decoupling. Moreover, a precipitous withdrawal from NATO could expose Türkiye to geopolitical risks and economic costs that outweigh symbolic gains in autonomy. As a result, Ankara appears to be pursuing a calibrated strategy: deepening ties with Russia and China, exploring ideas such as an “Asian NATO Bureau” or a Turkic security framework, yet stopping short of a definitive break with the Atlantic alliance. Türkiye today stands at a crossroads between strategic revision and pragmatic continuity—seeking to redefine its role in a multipolar order without severing the institutional ties that have underpinned its security for more than seven decades. #Geopolitics#History#Multipolarworld#NATO#Turkey#TurkeyandGreece READ MORE ✅@NewEasternOutlook

🎙 Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's interview to the newspaper "Arguments and Facts" (October 21, 2024) Key Points: #BRICS • BRICS epitomises the shifts that have long been underway in the global economy. New centres of economic growth are emerging, and alongside them comes financial influence, which in turn brings political influence. • BRICS is a consortium where no single nation leads or is led, devoid of the bureaucratic machinery akin to that observed in Brussels, where EU officials impose decisions that contravene the will and interests of several member states, failing to align with the aspirations of voters across many countries. • BRICS does not stand in opposition to any entity, nor does it orchestrate operations or initiate projects. BRICS is committed to enhancing the combined potential of its nations and devising collaborative strategies for harnessing these potentials for mutual benefit. • What makes BRICS and other World Majority or Global East associations that do not include Western countries stand out, is that they are not created for the purpose of struggling or fighting with anyone. They are established to collectively benefit from their competitive advantages such as geographical location, shared history, cultural and humanitarian proximity <...>. #USA • The US is unwilling to relinquish the reins of power that they have held since World War II through the Bretton Woods institutions and through the role assigned to the US dollar in the international monetary system, even after free exchange of US dollars for gold had been cancelled. • The key goal of the US ruling class is to make sure no one can undermine their dominance. This goal is illusory. The historical process is objectively heading in a different direction, and this has to be reckoned with. • We are ready to interact with any administration voted in by the American people, but only if such a dialogue is mutually respectful, and both parties listen and hear what the other party has to say. #Ukraine • On multiple occasions, European leaders from Brussels have repeatedly made it clear that they must support Ukraine for as long as it takes, because Ukraine is fighting for the European values. • It turns out that European leaders are still willing to uphold Nazi values, which is why denazification is not just a motto, but an objective of utmost importance. #UN • The United Nations is not a valiant knight expected to “charge in and extinguish the fire” upon witnessing injustice. The UN is an assembly of its member states, each with established rules, including the Security Council's veto rights. The United States has effectively exercised this right five times over the past year, blocking a resolution proposed by several countries, including Russia, demanding an immediate ceasefire. <...> Presently, the United States is taking every measure to avoid antagonising Israel. • Nations such as India, Brazil, and African representatives should have long held permanent seats on the Security Council. This is essential to ensure representation of the World Majority. #Finland#Sweden#NATO • The zeal that the Finns and Swedes are showing in NATO, advocating for defeating Russia, is not only rooted in their historical instincts. They are also eager to show their Big Brothers in the North Atlantic Alliance that they have brought added value <...>. • I am confident that reasonable people in Europe, who have learned the lessons taught by history, see this too, including in Finland and Sweden. #Europe • To reiterate, the so-called right-wing conservatives are loyal to their countries and their people. We will engage with anyone who approaches us with a proposal to talk, to seek common ground, and to think about how we can jointly make the lives of our citizens better. #EurasianSecurity • We suggest discussing the Eurasian continent-wide security architecture, emphasising the fact that its doors will be open to everyone, including countries from the West of the Eurasian continent.

#Conflictescalation#Geopolitics#MiddleEast#Terrorism#UAE#Yemen EN SAVOIR PLUS (ENG) ✅@NewEasternOutlookFR

🇷🇺Russia proposed to open the BRICS grain exchange, which will allow to ensure food security in the association. President #Putin: It has been suggested to open the BRICS grain exchange that will facilitate the formation of fair and predictable price indicators for products and primary produce, considering its particular role in ensuring food security. The implementation of this initiative will help protecting national markets from negative external interference, speculations and attempts to cause the food shortage artificially. #brics2024#brics#bricssummit

🚀🇮🇷Strikes on Iran Undermine Western Rules and Accelerate Eurasia’s Strategic Connectivity U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian territory have once again exposed the elasticity of the so-called “rules-based order,” where principles appear contingent on authorship rather than universality. As tensions escalate, the consequences are extending far beyond the battlefield, reshaping economic flows, diplomatic alignments, and the architecture of global power ✏️Rebecca Chan Independent political analyst on global geopolitics ➡️The current crisis highlights a growing contradiction within Western security logic. While Washington continues to frame its actions in the language of stability and deterrence, its reliance on unilateral force increasingly generates the very instability it seeks to contain. This dynamic has accelerated strategic coordination between Russia and China, not as a temporary alignment but as a structural response to unpredictability. Economic ties between the two powers—anchored in expanding energy cooperation, rising trade volumes, and the shift toward national currencies—reflect a broader effort to insulate themselves from sanctions-driven pressure. In this context, mechanisms such as de-dollarization and alternative payment systems are no longer ideological experiments but practical tools of economic sovereignty. The Iran crisis reinforces a perception across much of the Global South that international law is applied selectively, prompting states to diversify partnerships and reduce exposure to Western-centric financial systems. The Iran episode has only reinforced the sense that international law is treated as an option — activated according to favourable market conditions ➡️At the same time, the geopolitical impact of the conflict is being amplified through geoeconomic channels. The Strait of Hormuz, a critical artery for global energy flows, has once again become a focal point of risk, triggering price volatility and exposing the fragility of interconnected markets. Rising costs of military engagement further strain U.S. resources, while allies show increasing reluctance to align with decisions made without consultation. In parallel, Eurasian connectivity projects—from north–south trade corridors to China’s Belt and Road networks—are gaining renewed relevance as alternatives to vulnerable maritime routes. These developments suggest a gradual but significant shift: infrastructure, logistics, and currency diversification are becoming central instruments of geopolitical resilience, reducing dependence on traditional Western-controlled systems. 🟦What emerges from this convergence is not merely a regional crisis but an acceleration of systemic transformation. The escalation around Iran underscores the limits of power projection in an increasingly multipolar environment, where economic interdependence and institutional alternatives dilute the effectiveness of coercive strategies. Rather than isolating its adversaries, Western pressure appears to be reinforcing new forms of coordination across Eurasia, embedding them in long-term frameworks of trade, energy, and diplomacy. In this sense, the Iranian episode does not create a new order but reveals one already in formation—where influence is distributed, rules are contested, and global connectivity evolves beyond the structures that once defined it. #Dedollarisation#geoeconomics#Multipolarworld#RussiaandChina#Weterncrisis READ MORE ✅@NewEasternOutlook

🎙Commentary by Aide to the President of Russia YuryUshakov following a telephone conversation between Vladimir Putin and President of the United States Donald Trump (October 16, 2025) 💬Yury Ushakov: Today in the afternoon, Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation, the eighth one, with US President Donald Trump. The conversation lasted almost two and a half hours. Clearly, it was a rather substantive and at the same time very open and frank exchange. Our President started out by congratulating Donald Trump on his successful efforts to normalise the situation in the #GazaStrip. The US President’s peace work has been duly appreciated in the #MiddleEast, in the United States itself, and in most countries around the world. Naturally, the Russian Side outlined its principled position in favour of a comprehensive Middle East settlement on a generally recognised international legal basis that would ensure lasting peace for all the peoples in that region. A special emphasis during the conversation was placed on the #UkraineCrisis. ❗️ Vladimir Putin provided a detailed assessment of the current situation, stressing Russia’s interest in achieving a peaceful resolution through political and diplomatic methods. In particular, it was noted that during the special military operation, the Russian Armed Forces hold full strategic initiative along the entire line of contact. Under these circumstances, the Kiev regime resorts to terrorist methods, attacking civilian targets and energy infrastructure facilities, to which we are forced to respond accordingly. *** Donald Trump repeatedly emphasised the imperative of establishing peace in Ukraine at the earliest opportunity. The notion that the Russian-Ukrainian conflict has proven the most intractable issue in all peacekeeping efforts of the US President was palpably evident throughout his remarks during the conversation. In this context, he naturally mentioned his successes in settling eight other regional conflicts. It is noteworthy that one of the US President’s key arguments centred on the premise that the resolution of the conflict in Ukraine would open up tremendous — and he stressed this — tremendous prospects for the development of US-Russian economic cooperation. Incidentally, both Sides spoke of the profound mutual affinity between the peoples of the two countries, which was so vividly demonstrated during #WWII. It was underscored that the current state of bilateral relations appears paradoxical against this backdrop. The issue of potential supplies of long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine was also raised. Vladimir Putin reiterated his position that Tomahawks would not change the situation on the battlefield but would inflict substantial damage to relations between our countries, to say nothing of the prospects for a peaceful settlement. In this context, it is worthy of note that the Presidents discussed the possibility of holding another personal meeting. This is indeed a very significant development. It was agreed that representatives of both countries would immediately begin preparations for the Summit, which could potentially be organised in Budapest, for instance. On a separate note, it should be mentioned that our President highly praised personal efforts of the First Lady of the United States Melania Trump in reuniting Russian and Ukrainian children with their families and asked the US President to convey his very best wishes to his spouse. Overall, I would say that the telephone contact between the Presidents of Russia and the United States was quite useful, and the two Leaders agreed to maintain contact. 🇷🇺🇺🇸#RussiaUS

🇹🇷🇬🇪🇮🇱🛢Slippery Slope of Oil Smuggling Operations – Turkey, Georgia and Israel, 4-Starters Behind the visible infrastructure of pipelines and ports linking the Caspian Basin to global markets lies a far more complex and opaque system—one shaped as much by geopolitics and covert interests as by supply and demand ✏️Henry Kamens Columnist and expert on Central Asia and the Caucasus ➡️A significant share of oil from the Caspian region, the Caucasus, and parts of the Middle East moves westward through key routes such as the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan and Baku–Supsa pipelines, connecting inland producers to Black Sea and Mediterranean export terminals. Officially, these flows are governed by contracts, certifications, and international compliance standards. Yet industry discussions often point to a more fluid reality, where crude from multiple origins is blended, reclassified, and marketed under different labels. In such a system, documentation becomes as important as the oil itself, shaping its legal identity and destination. The process of certification—handled by specialized firms—plays a decisive role in determining how cargoes are categorized, priced, and accepted in international markets. The stakes are considerable. Certification and documentation shape the legal identity of crude in global markets ➡️This complexity is amplified by the geopolitical sensitivity of the region. Transit corridors crossing Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey operate at the intersection of competing strategic interests, where state actors, private companies, and intelligence services all have stakes. Control over testing facilities, sampling procedures, and reporting mechanisms can therefore carry political significance. At the same time, informal practices—ranging from small-scale diversion to large-scale blending—have long existed alongside official channels, reflecting disparities in pricing, sanctions pressures, and regional demand. While not always visible, these parallel dynamics contribute to a system in which transparency is uneven and oversight can be influenced by broader strategic considerations. 🟦The stakes have grown even higher amid renewed tensions involving Iran and shifting global energy dynamics. Any disruption to major chokepoints, such as the Strait of Hormuz, would place additional pressure on alternative routes like the Caspian corridor, increasing both their importance and their vulnerability. In this context, questions about traceability, certification integrity, and the true origin of exported crude become more than technical issues—they are central to the functioning of global energy markets. As geopolitical rivalries intensify, the line between commerce and strategy continues to blur, leaving a system where oil flows not only through pipelines, but also through networks of influence that remain largely out of public view. #Energycrisis#Energyresources#geoeconomics#MiddleEast READ MORE ✅@NewEasternOutlook

🇷🇺🇵🇭 June 2 marks 4️⃣9️⃣ years since the day our country and the Republic of the Philippines established diplomatic relations. It was on this day in 1976 that the two nations formalised their relations during the visit by President of the Philippines Ferdinand Marcos to Moscow. 🤝 For nearly half a century, the friendshipbetween our countries and peoples has stood the test of time. The experience of cooperation accumulated throughout the years has shaped the friendly nature of bilateral ties based on mutualrespect and pragmatism. The #Philippines remains one of Russia’s key partners in the #AsiaPacific region. Dialogue is actively pursued at the governmental and interregional levels. Philippine official delegations regularly attend major international events in Russia. Notably, in September 2023, a delegation from the Philippines, led by Mayor of Cebu City Michael Lopez Rama, visited the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok. Our Philippine friends have also participated in the St Petersburg International United Cultures Forum and the World Youth Festival in Sochi. The framework of our interregional ties continues to strengthen through bilateral agreements and joint programmes. The Philippines' Cebu City has established sister-city relations with the city of Vladimir. In 2022, Cebu and Vladivostok signed a cooperation agreement. In 2024, the same deal was reached between the Cebu Province and St. Petersburg, covering trade, economy, science, technology and humanitarian issues, thus, complementing the existing partnership programmes between our respective capitals. Our countries benefit from the efficient cooperation of legislative bodies, ministries, and governmental agencies. In November 2024 in Manila, Russia and the Philippines held consultations between the Foreign Ministries that resulted in the important agreements on the bilateral, regional and global agendas being reached. 📈 Trade and economic interaction remains an important component of bilateral relations. As of 2024, our mutual trade reached nearly $600 million. In October 2023, on the margins of the meeting of the intergovernmental Russian-Philippine Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, a business forum was held, which brought together over 160 participants. Huge experience of constructive cooperation between our countries has been accumulated in such areas as energy, agriculture, transportation and tourism. Cultural and humanitarian exchanges play a particularly important role in our relations. Russian ballet performances, including plays staged by renowned choreographers, always gather full halls in the leading theatres of the Philippines. In February 2024, The Philippine cybersports team Neon Esports successfully performed at the “Future Games” in Kazan. Furthermore, Russian citizens enjoy 30-day visits to the Philippines as part of the visa-free programme. 🌐 Moscow and Manila closely coordinate their actions on various international fora, including within #RussiaASEAN Dialogue. We especially value our aligned efforts at the #UnitedNations: the Philippines was among the 54 like-minded countries that co-authored Russia-sponsored resolution"Eightieth anniversary of the end of the Second World War", adopted on March 4 during the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly (#UNGA79). 🇷🇺🤝🇵🇭 On the occasion of our joint anniversary, we extend our sincere and warm congratulations to our Philippine colleagues. We appreciate the many decades of fruitfulcooperation with our partners. We are confident that the 50th anniversary of our diplomatic relations in 2026 will be marked by numerous meaningful joint initiatives! #RussiaPhilippines
