Here's a snippet and a sneak peak into the amazing atmosphere of BRICS cooperation.
#BRICS2024
🌐 On October 10, Moscow hosted a high-level seminar as part of the financial track of the Russian #BRICS Chairmanship.
🔘The event was attended by Finance Ministers and Heads of Central Banks of the association, and its main topic was the improvement of the international monetary and financial system.
💬 During the meeting, the participants discussed prospects for the development of the global economy, the current state of the BRICS countries’ economies, issues of customs and tax cooperation, launch of the BRICS research network on finance, interaction in the payment sector, etc.

🇷🇺🇨🇳President of Russia Vladimir Putin held talks via videoconference with President of China Xi Jinping(February 4, 2026)
💬Vladimir Putin: I would like to personally congratulate you and the Chinese people, our friends on the New Year 2026 and the upcoming Spring Festival, which will usher in the Year of the Red Fire Horse. This symbol embodies strength, energy and a drive to move forward – qualities that characterize the ties between our countries. Regardless of the international environment, I am confident in their resilience and steady, forward-looking development across all areas.
The #RussiaChina comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction areexemplary in nature.
This year, we mark the 25th anniversary of the Treaty of Good-Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation, which is fundamental to our relations. Its continued implementation undoubtedly serves the core interests of the peoples of both countries, contributes to strengthening truly comprehensive Russia-China cooperation and, most importantly, enhances the well-being of our citizens.
🤝 Taking this opportunity, I would like to reaffirm our strong support for all joint efforts aimed at ensuring the sovereignty and security of our two countries, their socio-economic prosperity and their right to choose their own path of development.
Allow me to say a few words about the results of 2025. I believe we successfully commemorated the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Second World War in May in Moscow and in September in Beijing. The fact that we were together on those days demonstrated to the entire world our solidarity and the readiness of Russia and China to defend historical truth and to carefully preserve the memory of the heroic feat of our peoples, who restored peace on the planet at the cost of tens of millions of lives.
China’s chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization also concluded with substantial practical results, culminating in the summit in Tianjin.
During our talks in Moscow and Beijing, we engaged in substantive discussions on key areas and outlined ambitious tasks for further deepening bilateral cooperation. At the governmental level, energetic, essentially day-to-day work is under way to implement these agreements.
📊Economic cooperation continued to develop steadily in 2025. Despite a slight decline – or rather, an adjustment of indicators – bilateral trade turnover has, for the third consecutive year, confidently exceeded the symbolic $200 billion mark.
Russia ranks among the leading suppliers of energy resources to China. Our energy partnership is mutually beneficial and truly strategic in nature. We are maintaining an active dialogue in the field of peaceful nuclear energy and advancing high-technology projects, including in industry and space exploration.
According to our data, trade in agricultural products has increased by more than 20%.
As for the international situation, amid growing global turbulence, foreign policy coordination between Moscow and Beijing remains an important stabilizing factor. We stand ready to continue the closest coordination on global and regional issues, both bilaterally and across all multilateral platforms – including the #UN, #BRICS and the #SCO, among others – where the Russia-China tandem plays, in many respects, a key role.
We wish success and, of course, will provide all necessary support to China’s chairmanship and to our Chinese friends within the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum.

💬 The domination of the “collective West” was based on diverse history including ruthless exploitation of peoples and territories of other countries.
On the basis of this five hundred years, the US & its allies built the model of globalization, which they believed would serve THEM well to continue to be number one in economy, in military exercises, in culture, politics, and so on and so forth. And they thought that they would be using this globalization scheme to continue their domination.
However, other countries, using exactly the principles and instruments of the western globalization, managed to beat the West on its own turf, building economies on the basis of national sovereignty, on the basis of balance of interests with other countries.
<...>
We see this process very much underway, which is clearly changing the balance of power in the world, and not to the West liking.
This is especially seen in various conflicts which the West ignites all over the world. Everything goes to keep the hegemony.
<...>
❓ The analysis of all these events raises a question: is there a single place where the US intervened with military force, where life has become better?
I think you know the answer 👉 Ruined statehood, human tragedies, and bleak prospects for the future of the countries where the Americans & NATO interfered.
<...>
We have to accept the existence of new organizations, new formats, new structures like #BRICS, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, #ASEAN, #AfricanUnion, and many subregional organizations in Africa, CELAC and subregional groups in Latin America. They are going to be the bricks of the new polycentric world. This must be recognized as an objective course of history and this must be respected. This is something which we actually miss when we analyse the modern Western diplomacy. But this is for the West to draw conclusions.
🎙 Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’sremarks and answers to media questions following the 19th East Asia Summit (#EAS)
📍 Vientiane, October 11, 2024
💬Sergey Lavrov: We have completed our meetings as part of the 19th East Asia Summit. President of Russia Vladimir Putin instructed me to represent him at this event.
The discussions evidenced that our Western colleagues, who are #ASEAN partners <…> have been seeking to undermine the multilateral economic and security architecture which has evolved over decades with ASEAN at its core and which has proven its relevance and effectiveness.
However, it is obvious today that the United States and its allies decided to draw the Asia-Pacific Region into NATO’s sphere of interests by creating all these narrow and exclusive US-led military and political associations. <...>
☝️ We have highlighted that this Western policy may lead to the region’s militarisation, while also threatening stability and sustainable development in the Asian part of our shared continent.
Russia reaffirmed its unwavering support for ASEAN countries in their efforts to preserve peace and ensure equal cooperation with all ASEAN partners.
<...>
👉 Instead of using the events held as part of the East Asia Summit for pursuing vested political interests, Russia opted for promoting initiatives in several domains, including pandemic response, people-to-people contacts, including tourism, and supporting volunteering. We offer practical avenues for working together which can benefit all the participants and advocate equal and mutually beneficial cooperation. <...>
The Association hosted the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation as its guest at the East Asia Summit for the third time. He put forward a proposal to promote closer contacts between the SCO and ASEAN in various spheres that are relevant for the countries involved. <...>
We welcomed the fact that several ASEAN countries want to forge closer ties with #BRICS. Today, this structure acts as one of the cornerstones of a multipolar world order. In just a few days, Kazan will be hosting the BRICS Summit, which will be a major international event. Several ASEAN countries were invited to attend it, and they accepted these invitations.
Excerpts from responses to media questions. Key talking points:
• The final declaration has not been adopted because of the persistent attempts by the United States, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand to turn it into a purely political statement, contrary to the decades-long practice of East Asia summits, which boils down to preventing the saturation of declarations with confrontational geopolitical narratives.
• When the United States and its allies unanimously reaffirmed their commitment to ASEAN’s central role in facilitating cooperation in the region today, they were being dishonest. Everything they do is aimed at containing Russia and China. Everything that has been accomplished in the ASEAN-centric format over decades is being sacrificed to this goal now. That format was convenient for everyone and incorporated the interests of each and every stakeholder. So, the destructive nature of Washington’s actions in the region is obvious.
• We are seriously concerned about re-militarisation of Japan. Having forgotten the lessons of WWII, the Japanese authorities have stated increasing defence spending and augmenting its basic doctrines with a pre-emptive strike capability.

🇷🇺🇮🇷 Russia's President Vladimir Putin and Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkianheld a meeting on the sidelines of the #BRICS Summit in Kazan.
💬Vladimir Putin: This visit to Russia is yourfirst as President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and this has great symbolic importance.
Iran has become a full participant of BRICS, and you know that we strongly supported your application. Earlier, we also vigorously promoted your accession to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. This has given us additional opportunities for cooperation in the international arena.
Recently, we had a very substantive and, I am sure, useful meeting in Ashgabat, where we reviewed the main aspects of bilateral cooperation and the most relevant regional issues. Most importantly, we reaffirmed our policy of mutually strengthening ties in every possible way. Our interaction is on the rise; it is genuinely friendly and constructive. Soon we will be able to consolidate the results achieved with a new major interstate agreement on comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Iran.
We are grateful to you for accepting the invitation to pay a separate visit to our country to sign this document and other important documents in a ceremonial atmosphere.
As I said in Ashgabat, one of our priorities is to consolidate the emerging positive trends in trade and economic cooperation. We expect this issue to be addressed by the intergovernmental commission, chaired by our Minister of Energy, Mr Tsivilev, and Iranian Minister of Petroleum Mohsen Paknejad.
Other priorities include the implementation of major joint initiatives such as the development of Iranian railway infrastructure as part of promoting a major project, the International North-South Transport Corridor project, as well as the construction of the second and third power units at the Bushehr NPP.
📊 Indeed, the Free Trade Agreement signed between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union at the close of 2023 significantly contributes to the expansion of economic ties.
Cultural and humanitarian cooperation is likewise making good progress. Notably, an intergovernmental agreement concerning the establishment and operation of cultural centres came into effect in July of this year. Moreover, the visa-free regime for organised groups of tourists, operational since August of the previous year, is actively fostering an increase in mutual tourist exchange – a 52-percent growth was observed in 2023.
Today, we will continue our discussions on the most pressing international issues, including the dramatic developments in the Middle East, as well as the situations in Syria and the South Caucasus.
🤝 Generally speaking, I would like to emphasise that the approaches of Russia and Iran towards the global agenda are closely aligned or fully coincide. We are united by a shared aspiration to establish a just multipolar world order, to uphold international norms, and to maintain the pivotal role of the United Nations.
I would also like to take this opportunity to extend my greetings and best wishes to the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. We hold in high regard his attentive and constructive approach to the development of Russian-Iranian relations.

🎙 Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks during his meeting with Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi(Vientiane, July 25, 2024)
💬 Our countries focused their agendas on undertaking a comprehensive effort to deliver on their national development goals, and the #RussiaChina strategic cooperation is designed to facilitate these efforts. President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of China Xi Jinping attach great importance to these relations and always keep them on their radar, including by exploring new horizons for our strategic partnership.
In May 2024, Beijing hosted summit talks between them. After that, the two Leaders had a conversation on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Astana, where they outlined the main directions for further strengthening our bilateral cooperation as well as the way we work together on the international stage.
🤝 Russia and China have been working in tandem on building a multipolar world order with better justice for all, guided by the principle of genuine multilateralism. In addition, they have been creating positive vibes within the United Nations and the Group of Twenty, while remaining proactive within #BRICS and the #SCO. There are other important international platforms too, including, of course, #ASEAN and the entire architecture revolving around this association. We share the view that we must do everything to prevent its destruction.
Today, we had a detailed conversation on this matter during our joint meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Lao PDR Saleumxay Kommasith, whose country currently chairs ASEAN.
☝️ We believe in the importance of continuing this dialogue in order to combine our efforts in countering any attempts by extra-regional forces to interfere in Southeast Asian affairsand to contribute to its wellbeing and prosperity.
