🌐🤝Nikolai Novichkov: “A secure world is only possible in partnership with the Global South and Global East” In April 2026, discussions surrounding Russia’s engagement with Africa gained renewed attention ahead of the upcoming Russia–Africa Summit in Moscow. In an interview with Russian State Duma deputy Nikolai Novichkov, key themes emerged regarding economic cooperation, geopolitical competition, and the evolving role of the Global South in shaping a multipolar international system 🎤Yuliya Novitskaya Journalist and political commentator ➡️A central argument highlighted in the discussion is that Russia’s engagement with Africa is entering a new phase, moving beyond humanitarian and resource-based cooperation toward technological and industrial partnerships. While previous decades were dominated by exports of commodities such as grain, energy resources, and fertilizers, current priorities increasingly focus on infrastructure development, energy projects, and knowledge transfer. This shift reflects broader changes on the African continent itself, where demographic growth, expanding markets, and rising political agency are transforming Africa into a more influential global actor. The upcoming summit is therefore expected to formalize this transition, emphasizing equal partnership rather than donor–recipient dynamics. A safe world is only possible in partnership with the leaders of the Global South and the Global East ➡️At the same time, structural challenges remain. Despite political progress, Russian exports to Africa have declined, highlighting the gap between diplomatic engagement and economic implementation. According to Novichkov, this is partly due to the slow adaptation of financial and institutional mechanisms, including delays in the rollout of digital payment systems such as the digital ruble and broader initiatives like alternative settlement platforms within BRICS. These limitations underscore a wider issue: the need to modernize trade frameworks in line with evolving global conditions, particularly as competition intensifies from actors such as China, the European Union, and Gulf states, all of which are активно expanding their technological and investment presence across Africa. 🟦More broadly, the interview reflects a geopolitical perspective in which cooperation with countries of the Global South and East is framed as essential for building a more stable international system. In this view, Africa is not only an economic partner but also a key component of emerging global alignments. At the same time, the discussion points to increasing geopolitical competition on the continent, with Western countries seeking to maintain or regain influence, while alternative models of partnership emphasize sovereignty, non-interference, and long-term development. Within this context, Russia’s future role will depend on its ability to translate political goodwill into sustainable economic and technological engagement, while adapting to a rapidly changing global environment. #Africa#BRICS#Economiccooperation#Russia#RussiainAfrica#TheGlobalSouth READ MORE ✅@NewEasternOutlooksh

🇷🇺🇨🇳 On May 4, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrovmet with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Qin Gang on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s Foreign Ministers’ Council meeting in the state of Goa, India. The two Ministers praised Russian-Chinese relations for the momentum they have gained against the backdrop of growing geopolitical instability. The two officials exchanged views on the current state of and prospects for developing the #SCO, welcoming the collective efforts by its member states to ensure peace and security in Eurasia. They also mentioned the SCO’s growing prestige in international affairs and its key role in the regional security architecture. During the meeting, Sergey Lavrov and Qin Gang reaffirmed their mutual commitment to stepping up coordination efforts within the #UN, the #SCO, #BRICS, #RIC, #G20 and other key international organisations and dialogue mechanisms. They discussed several hot topics, including efforts to promote a peace settlement in the Ukraine crisis. The meeting also included a confidential exchange of views on the latest international matters with a focus on the developments in the Asia-Pacific Region considering the fact that extra-regional actors have been increasingly active in seeking to set up various exclusive blocs and formats that undermine the ASEAN-centric security and stability framework in the region. The two Ministers share the view that modern neo-colonialist practices are unacceptable and have a destructive effect on most countries around the world and international relations in general. #BRICS2025

🇷🇺🇨🇳 On July 10, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Yimet in Kuala Lumpur on the sidelines of ministerial events within the ASEAN framework. The Parties highly commended the development of political dialogue and practical collaboration between Russia and China amid heightened turbulence in the global system of international relations. The Ministers engaged in detailed discussions on cooperation within #ASEAN, particularly in light of certain countries’ intensified efforts to establish narrow-bloc military and political mechanisms aimed at undermining the ASEAN-centric system of security and stability in the Asia-Pacific region. ❗️ Russia and China stand united in opposing actions and plans to militarise the region, including attempts to deploy NATO-standard military infrastructure. The Sides exchanged assessments on the resolution of a range of regional and international issues, as well as bilateral collaboration within the #UN, #BRICS, the #SCO, the #G20, and #APEC. The conversation, which reaffirmed the alignment of approaches on the topics discussed, was conducted in the traditionally trust-based and constructive manner characteristic of the Russia-China strategic partnership. #RussiaChina

#Socialismo#Cina#BRICS#Multipolarità#Occidente#Crisi#Gramsci#Marxismo#Pace#Cooperazione https://www.marx21.it/associazione/declino-delloccidente-e-attualita-del-socialismo/

🇷🇺🇹🇲April 8 marks 3️⃣4️⃣ years of diplomatic relations between Russia and Turkmenistan. The dialogue between Moscow and Ashgabat, which was given the status of a strategic partnership in 2017, is intense and based on the solid foundation of shared history, good-neighbourliness, mutual trust and respect for each other’s interests. The special nature of bilateral cooperation is enshrined in the Declaration on Deepening Strategic Partnership, which the Presidents of Russia and Turkmenistan signed in Moscow in the summer of 2022. The Document serves as a cornerstone for deepening ties across a broad range of areas including trade, energy, transport, digital technologies, education, culture, and information and biological security. Our countries maintain political dialogue at the high and highest levels, and exchange views on international and regional issues. Russia respects Turkmenistan’s neutral status, which is a vital factor of global stability and geopolitical balance. In 2025, Ashgabat marked the 3️⃣0️⃣th anniversary of its permanent neutrality, which has been recognised three times by the #UNGA resolutions. 🤝 On June 24-25, 2025, Russia's Foreign Minister SergeyLavrovpaid an official visit to Turkmenistan, where he was received by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and held substantive talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov. The negotiations were followed by the the signing of the Programme for Cooperation between Foreign Ministries of Russia and Turkmenistan for 2025-2026. 🎙 Excerpt from SergeyLavrov’s remarks and answers to questions during a meeting with employees of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan and faculty and students of the Institute of International Relations (Ashgabat, June 25, 2025): Russia-Turkmenistan cooperation can serve as a compelling example of relations between countries in a #MultipolarWorld, where the global balance continues to shift due to the strengthening of power centres beyond the historical West. <...> ✍️ From the article by Russian Ambassador to Turkmenistan IvanVolynkin"Pursuing the Deepening Strategic Partnership",published in the newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan, for the 3️⃣4️⃣th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our countries (April 8, 2026): Moscow highly appreciates Ashgabat’s consistent diplomatic efforts to promote peace and stability in Central Asia and the Caspian region. One can say with certainty that Turkmenistan has a solid reputation as a respected platform for international meetings and talks that result in the adoption of important strategic initiatives. 📈 Russia is a leading trade and economic partner ofTurkmenistan.Over the past three years, Russia delivered to Turkmenistan goods and products worth of over $1.5 billion. Russian corporations, such as Gazprom, Tatneft, KAMAZ, the Vozrozhdenie Design and ConstructionGroup, and other economic entities, operate successfully in Turkmenistan. Our countries maintain close coordination across the main international and regional platforms, including the #CIS, the #UN, the Caspian Five, and in the Central Asia-Russia format. Moscow welcomes Ashgabat’s participation in the events held by #BRICS. 🌟 In Turkmenistan, our common history and the sacred memory of the heroism of our people during #WWII, is cherished. After Nazi Germany treacherously attacked our Motherland in 1941, 3'000 volunteers from the Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic joined the Red Army, with hundreds of thousands fighting against Nazi invaders during the Great Patriotic War. In May 2025, our countries jointly celebrated the 8️⃣0️⃣th anniversary of the Great Victory. Russia appreciated the fact that President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov attended the Victory Parade on Red Square in Moscow. An army unit from Turkmenistan took part in the parade to respect the memory of our combat brotherhood in #WW2. 🎉 We extend our cordial congratulations to our friends and colleagues in Turkmenistan on our shared anniversary, wish them prosperity and success! #RussiaTurkmenistan

#Opinion ✍️Dmitry Trenin, a research professor at the Higher School of Economics and a lead research fellow at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations, member of the Russian International Affairs Council. Europe will eventually have to choose between the US and BRICS Read in full Key points: 💬 Rather than setting out to organize a genuine multipolar system based on mutual recognition of each nation’s core interests, <...> the US proceeded to enhance its exclusive and comprehensive dominance. • This year, at the #BRICS Summit in Russia’s Kazan, the group will for the first time include the leaders of Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Another major Eurasian institution is the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (#SCO) <...> to be admitted soon. A number of other Eurasian countries, from Turkey to Thailand and from the Malpes to Mongolia, have voiced their intention to join either BRICS or SCO. • To counter that trend among the members of what we increasingly call the World Majority, Washington has raised the profile of NATO in the Indo-Pacific; strengthened its Cold War-era bilateral and trilateral alliances in the Western Pacific, and founded a new one, #AUKUS, in the South Pacific. ❗️ All these multiple arrangements are completely dominated by the US and are aimed at containing and deterring Washington’s designated primary adversaries: China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea – with one overriding goal of defending America’s hegemonic position. • In contrast to that, neither BRICS nor the SCO is dominated by a single power, or a tandem/triumvirate of nations. BRICS’s recent expansion also suggests that it does not aspire to become a version of the West’s G7, as an elitist steering group, or directoire, for the non-Western world. • Neither BRICS nor the SCO is overtly anti-American or anti-Western: their main focus is internal rather than external, and they have their work cut out for them. • The emerging mutual security space within the SCO will make the continent – minus Western Europe, for the time being – far more stable, whether in terms of strategic stability in major-power relations, regional security systems, or the risks of terrorism. ☝️ Eventually, the countries of Western Europe – or far western Eurasia, if you like – will have to make a choice between staying in the US orbit as America’s power continues to shrink, or reaching out east to a vast and vibrant new world next door.

🎙 Excerpts and key points from Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s answers to media questions during a news conference following the 7th Russia-GCC Ministerial Meeting for Strategic Dialogue (Riyadh, September 9, 2024) #Ukraine • We have never taken the “Zelensky formula” seriously and only marvelled that there are still people ready to buy it. Of course, this happens under the West’s pressure. • But territories are neither here nor there. We just wanted the people, who are an inalienable part of the Russian world and the Russian culture, language, history, and religion, to be treated as human beings as required under international law, numerous conventions on human rights and minority rights, and primarily the UN Charter. • No success will be achieved unless we get to the root of this problem. In this context, we appreciate the global security initiative announced by PRC President Xi Jinping, which says that it is necessary to start analysing any conflict from its prime causes. • You should understand that it is not about the meeting location and participants, but about issues to be discussed. Meeting to talk about calls for a ceasefire and then territorial exchanges simply doesn’t cut it. Once again, the problem is not about territories but people’s rights. As soon as we see the determination to protect human rights, a policy that the West always boasts about when addressing any issue (except this particular one), I am confident we will easily agree on the location and time of the meeting. But first we need to understand what exactly we are going to discuss. #GEP • At today’s meeting with the Gulf Cooperation Council, we discussed this Eurasia-based organisation’s promising potential for promoting the continent-wide processes and contributing to what President Vladimir Putin referred to as the Greater Eurasian Partnership. • We want the nations of the Eurasian continent – the largest, fastest-growing, and most resource-rich part of the world – to decide their fate on their own. #MiddleEast • Washington wants to preserve its monopoly over any processes in the Middle East. We know many cases when this position has resulted in failure. Today’s discussion with our colleagues from the Persian Gulf’s Arab countries has fully confirmed us in this belief. • An immediate ceasefire is necessary. Meanwhile, it is important to remember that the problem stems from the fact that the Palestinian state issue has not been resolved for almost 80 years. #BRICS • BRICS has doubled its membership from five to ten. It has already received more than 30 applications requesting either membership or special relations. This process is the main driving force behind the formation of a multipolar world order. • BRICS is following an upward trajectory in its development, and this trend will only grow stronger. The Russian BRICS Chairmanship is greatly contributing to this. Read in full: https://mid.ru/en/foreign_policy/news/1968672/
