🇱🇦 On December 2, #Laos celebrates the 5️⃣0️⃣th anniversary of the proclamation of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. This commemorative date coincides with the 80th Anniversary of the Great Victory. The defeat of Nazism and the end of World War II gave a powerful impetus to the process of decolonisation in Asia. The Lao people, who declared their independence in October 1945, needed several more decades to defend it. As a result of determined struggle and political and diplomatic efforts aimed at preserving the country’s neutrality amid foreign aggression in Indochina, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic was officially established in 1975. Our country played a significant role in supporting the Lao people in their national liberation movement, as well as in building Lao statehood, developing the economy, and strengthening its defense capabilities. With support from the USSR, major industrial enterprises, key transport infrastructure, medical institutions, and educational facilities were built. 🤝 Diplomatic relations between our countries were established on October 7, 1960. On March 9, 1994, the Treaty on the Fundamentals of Friendly Relations was signed. In October 2011, the Declaration on the Russia–Laos Strategic Partnership in the Asia-Pacific Region was adopted. Today, our countries are seeing steady progress in the development of a trust-based dialogue at the highest and high levels, expanded cooperation between parliaments and government agencies and intensified trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and regional ties within the framework of the Russia–Laos strategic partnership. 💬Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov: We highly value the careful attitude of our Lao friends toward the pages of our shared past, the preservation of historical truth and the prevention of any attempts to distort it. 🇷🇺Russia has accumulated considerable experience in assisting friendly states in the creation and development of sustainable school feeding systems. For over 10 years the UN World Food Program has been our main international partner in this area. Implemented with Russian expert & financial participation, WFP projects are focused on assisting to elaborate national programs for school meals development, refitting school canteens with new equipment, organizing the supply of quality food, training cooks, and introducing modern methods of provision children with a balanced and healthy diet. The most large-scale projects are being implemented in Armenia, Kyrgyzstan & Tajikistan. In 2020, similar initiatives were launched with #WFP for Nicaragua, Cuba & Jordan. Since 2022, we have expanded the geography of assistance to the Asia-Pacific region (#Cambodia🇰🇭, #Laos🇱🇦 & Sri Lanka). 🤝Russia will continue constructive interaction with the WFP to provide assistance to countries in need and ensure global food security.

Laos: dal XII Congresso del Partito al voto popolare Il 22 febbraio il Laos ha rinnovato il suo parlamento (X Assemblea Nazionale) e i consigli provinciali. Oltre 4,7 milioni di elettori erano chiamati alle urne per scegliere 175 deputati, in un’elezione presentata come il naturale proseguimento delle linee tracciate dal recente XII Congresso del Partito Rivoluzionario. Dopo aver definito la visione strategica fino al 2030 e al 2055, l’obiettivo ora è tradurre le direttive in azioni concrete. Laos: continuità politica e nuovo slancio nella cooperazione con il Vietnam Le recenti elezioni legislative in Laos hanno confermato una solida linea di continuità politica, in linea con le direttive del XII Congresso del Partito Rivoluzionario. Con un'affluenza massiccia, il rinnovato Parlamento (con 169 membri del partito su 175) si prepara ad attuare l'agenda di sviluppo nazionale 2026-2030. Più che un semplice voto, si tratta di un consolidamento istituzionale in cui la legittimazione del sistema si basa su stabilità, crescita e coesione sociale. Ma il dato più interessante è la sempre più stretta "coesione strategica" con il Vietnam. Subito dopo il voto, i due paesi hanno annunciato una maggiore cooperazione parlamentare, economica e militare. Gli scambi commerciali superano i 3 miliardi di dollari e gli investimenti vietnamiti in Laos crescono, confermando Hanoi come partner di prim'ordine per Vientiane.
