Some say that because many people are living much longer, the age at which people retire from work should be raised considerably. To what extent do you agree or disagree? It is true that life expectancy has considerably increased in the past few decades, which some people took to mean that the retirement age should therefore be lengthened as well. However, I disagree with this suggestion for two main reasons. There are several reasons why longevity doesn’t translate to increased retirement age. Firstly, it is work alone that usually causes people distress, thereby damaging their health slowly but surely. In fact, burnt-out has been known to be the direct cause of serious diseases such as heart attack. This means that, in a mere attempt to avoid the same thing that shortens their lives, people are bound to disapprove of raised working time. Secondly, there are more valuable things to spend that increased lifespan on than mundane work: starting a family is one of them. Swamped with an endless amount of work, people simply delay marriage – if not completely abandon it – until it is too late. In other words, these run-down future parents can only do so much in terms of building a family, as they are already too frail to enjoy what was supposed to the ‘rosiest’ part of their lives. For example, they may not be able to have kids this late in a marriage; even if they do, they might live to see their children go off to school – something that parents normally look forward to for years. Thus, extending the age of retirement will further exacerbate this already bleak situation. In conclusion, living longer should not always mean working longer. After all, it is overworking that usually threatens people’s lives. Besides, few things deserve our valuable time except family. (274 words, 45 minutes) #MyWriting#FromMyWritingCourse @ieltsulugbeks

It is argued that technology has come to dominate our lives, even in the realm of education. In fact, I agree that people will only rely on digital books and newspapers in the future because of their overall comfort. There are several reasons why e-reading will be all the more popular in the coming ages. Firstly, they are far more accessible than printed books thanks to what is known as “synchronization”. This means that one book can be accessed through multiple devices at any time– a feature inapplicable to physical books, of course. For example, when someone loses their Kindle -- a digital tablet for reading books -- they can easily continue from where they left off on different a device such as a laptop. In this way, users can enjoy their favorite reads from anywhere in the world, without having to buy a new copy and thus saving money. Moreover, online books are far more convenient to use than traditional ones. Students, in particular, do not have to bring dozens of books to school anymore, as e-books are rather compact, accommodating hundreds of books. More importantly, if it weren’t for the internet, academics would be spending hours -- if not days -- searching for bits of information in libraries. But thanks to the user-friendly and all-encompassing database of e-libraries, those seekers of knowledge can find anything they need with ease. Thus, they save their valuable time that would otherwise be consumed by printed books. In conclusion, modern humans are increasingly gravitating towards e-reading. I also believe this medium should be encouraged because of its accessibility and efficiency. (268 words, ~ 30 min) #MyWriting#FromMyWritingCourse @ieltsulugbeks

#MyWriting#FromMyWritingCourse It is true that affluent countries tend to offer money to the rather deprived ones to help abolish poverty. While financial aid may be a temporary fix, I believe that there are more optimal ways of ending this issue once and for all. There is a reason why developed countries rush to financially provide their worse-off neighbors: to lighten their loads. Usually, in developing countries supply and demand work far too disproportionately – there might be only one doctor per a hundred patients, for example. This means that, unless provided with enough medical workers – something only money can buy – the country’s already frail population is doomed. Clearly, no doctor in their right mind is willing to for free, especially in countries like Africa, where the living conditions are inadequate to say the least. In other words, there are simply some issues that cannot be tackled with anything but robust finances. Money is merely a temporary solution to what could be a mountain of problems. There are other – possibly more effective and sustainable – forms of aid; the most viable one is perhaps education. Poverty is a swirling vortex – once get sucked into it, it is almost impossible to get out of it. This means that if they are not taught to mitigate – or even better prevent – poverty, unfortunate countries stand no chance of fully recovering as a people. To that end, their wealthy allies should not simply give them money, but teach them how to use it, too. For example, sending experienced businessmen to tour in desperate countries can help raise financial awareness of the area, even more so when such tours are open to the public. Surely, the host country is ought to make the most of the presented opportunity rather than see it as a disgrace to their nation. In conclusion, rich countries are inclined to offer financial aid to the needy ones, and for good reason: developing countries can alleviate their existing problems thanks to it. However, in the same way a rich man does not catch a fish for the poor and instead teaches them to fish, so should affluent nations attempt to educate their deprived counterparts. In a world driven by technology, obesity has become a pressing issue, especially among children. More and more of them are gaining extra weight, which could potentially cost them dear in the future, both in terms of their health and finances. The rise in child obesity could be attributed to one factor: lifestyle. However, that is not to say this trend is irreversible. Children are notorious for their indulgence in fattening products. In fact, almost every grown-up must have eaten excessive amounts of chocolate at some point in the past, as children are wired to love treats high in sugar. Ultimately, sugar is the root cause of many health problems, including obesity. More importantly, though, people that are born after 1995 are more prone to become overweight thanks to the rise of the internet. This means that children born today lead a more sedentary lifestyle than ever since they do not have to do anything physical anymore. In other words, access to smartphones or laptops usually means that almost everything is at one’s fingertips: rather than traveling long distances to attend a class, children can simply watch a tutorial on YouTube now. This increasingly sedentary lifestyle, coupled with unhealthy eating habits, automatically translates to obesity, as calories spending is suppressed. There are several ways of helping children lose weight, but the only long-term solution is perhaps the one that involves their parents. After all, they are the ones that children spend the better part of their lives with and look up to as role models. Thus, ensuring that parents themselves lead an exemplary lifestyle, in which they engage in regular exercise, is a surefire way to end childhood obesity once and for all. In other words, when surrounded with an atmosphere dominated by physical activeness, children are bound to adopt a much healthier lifestyle and therefore avoid future health problems. Also, introducing incentives for every time the child does some sports exercises should help make this way of life highly sustainable over a long period. In conclusion, childhood obesity is on the rise in this day and age, which could be explained by how children increasingly spend their time sitting in one place and eating sugar-based foods. However, certain measures can be taken to mitigate this issue, one of which is the parents setting an example to the younger generation. Urban population is growing at an unprecedented rate, as are industrial areas. These are the main factors in the loss of natural places. There are several reasons why preserving such spots should be a priority, and it is likely that this trend is reversible. A potential chance to help humanity should be a valid enough incentive to protect nature. It is a fact that natural places such as forests help sustain the environment by cleaning the air people are polluting. Trees, for example, greatly contribute to offsetting carbon emissions by producing oxygen. Thus, ensuring that there are enough trees to sustain the environment should be a global effort. After all, environmental problems are doomed to end humanity at some point in the future. Moreover, natural sights have long served humans as a source of enjoyment. In addition to feasting their eyes on the stunning views of mountains and hills, people rely on these wonders of nature to unwind after work. Spas, for example, effectively help people improve their physical health as well as their wellbeing. Their absence may lead to a potentially frail population, which in turn strains the economy. There are, however, ways to mitigate, or even prevent, this loss. As trite as it may seem, educating the governments and citizens about the consequences of this issue is the way forward. The government officials, much less the general public, have little knowledge of what could happen if natural beauty spots disappeared. One practical way of raising their awareness is perhaps with what is now dominating our lives: social media. Certain media personas such as Mr. Beast – the most subscribed YouTuber in the world – has already launched several projects to preserve the environment and brought them to his audience’s attention. The influence that such big personalities have on people is tremendous, and so if other celebrities also join this endeavor, people are bound to follow suit, at least in order emulate their role models. Eventually, preserving the environment, including natural habitats, will dominate every platform. In conclusion, the ever-increasing population as well as the growing urban centers means that natural places of beauty are under threat. The primary reason why the loss of greenery signifies is its aid to humanity on the whole, which should be a good enough motive to protect these natural sights. To that end, encouraging people to be more attuned to environmental problems through social media should be prioritized. (398 words, written in 40 minutes) #MyWriting#FromMyWritingCourse

#MyWriting#FromMyWritingCourse Labor force is essential to every country. It is said that a select few who earn high salaries greatly benefit their nation, whereas the opponents of this view claim that people’s salary should be capped. The government will almost invariably need exceptionally skilled labor with sound finances. In times of economic recession, for example, people who earn high salaries may come in use. In other words, when the government fails to support public sectors such as healthcare and education, such patrons may lend them the necessary funding, potentially preventing further nationwide economic doom and gloom. Capping salaries may lead to more harm than good. Granted, this practice may appear to promote equality and therefore lead to harmony in the community – but oftentimes it is too good to be true. Introducing regulations on what seems to be everyone’s lifelong ambition – decent salary – can render them utterly frustrated. Clearly, people do not spend the better part of their lives mastering a skillset at university only to wind up at dead-end jobs. Their misery may escalate so much that they will consider working abroad, which only makes things worse in their home country. That a select few make a fortune may not be welcomed by the remaining parts of the society. These rather unfortunate people claim that the amount of salaries should be controlled, but no one ever wonders why some are wealthy while others are not – it is because they worked for it. Robbing the rich minority of what ordinary people could not achieve is unjustified and — more importantly — would spell a grim future for the country's economy. (268 words) @ieltsulugbeks

#MyWriting#FromMyWritingCourse Everybody has an overwhelming desire to create, especially people engaged in art. Thus, limiting their choice of topics for a work of art may mean an apparent lack of creativity. In fact, I believe such brilliant people as artists should be allowed to splash their thoughts on their canvas as freely as necessary. It is possible that art could be misused in wrong hands. At a time when virtually everything can turn into a ‘trend’, it is frightening to think about what modern art is capable of. Take Artificial Imaging – an artificially intelligent bot that paints a picture of anything at the request of its users, even a paintings as ridiculous someone marrying a cabbage. Clearly, this type of technology poses a major threat to morality, as it is not regulated by the government. Imagine someone asking it to paint a distorted image of an important figure from the past such as Mother Teresa, and the picture goes viral. Not only would this portrayal be demeaning, but it would also change people’s perception of her, making the recent history blurry. As disturbing as allowing technology-based art complete freedom could be, the ability to convey ideas freely is important to actual artists. Since most works of art can be deciphered in endless different ways – because art is a reflection of the artists’ personal perception of the world – it is unjustified to worry about their possible impacts on people. Even if art has an influence on the status quo, it will only be trivial and wane in a short period of time. More importantly, though, confining artists to a particular set of disciplines may undermine their competence and therefore their livelihoods. In other words, telling artists what to paint completely defeats the purpose of their craft, as even the artists themselves cannot control their creativity at all times – it just comes and goes and is particularly active with a select set of themes for each artist. There are many famous artists in history who were exceptionally good at portraying their seemingly unorthodox, albeit brilliant ideas in their paintings. They would not have become who they were, if they had been deprived of clinging on to their niche. It is important to acknowledge the moral consequences of potentially unfiltered art. This, however, is easily offset by the grander meaning of art: freely creating a piece of art solely understood by its creator, no matter what it means to the world. (407 words)

The two bar charts show the changes in the percentage of native and foreign Australians living in three different areas (cities, the countryside, and towns) from 1995 to 2010. Overall, more people chose to live in urban areas than in other areas, and this trend was ever-increasing. It is also clear that while rural areas had experienced drastic changes, the opposite was true for towns. In 1995, half the native inhabitants was residing in urban areas. Rural areas ranked second, at about 30%, followed closely by towns. However, after over a decade, the city life had gained even more popularity, with well over 60% of inhabitants living in cities. By contrast, the percentage of Aboriginals inhabiting the countryside and towns dropped to the same level (about 18%), despite the former’s previously higher rate. A similar, albeit more extreme, trend was observed with people born outside Australia. In particular, the vast majority of them were living in cities and rural areas (60% and 35% respectively), whereas only 5% chose town life. By the end of the period, however, the proportion of city dwellers had soared a further 20%, which meant that the other two places for living decreased even more, with the countryside suffering the greatest loss: a drop by over 30 percentage points.
