Venezuela and Colombia held bilateral talks in Caracas on April 24, 2026, focusing on security and economic cooperation.
On security, both governments agreed to develop joint military plans and establish immediate intelligence-sharing mechanisms to address armed groups and transnational crime along their shared 2,200-kilometer border.
On economic and energy issues, the two sides discussed import substitution policies, electrical interconnection projects in western Venezuela, and the potential reopening of a natural gas pipeline to enable exports to Colombia and beyond. Officials also addressed efforts to strengthen tourism through improved air connectivity.

Venezuelan and Colombian delegations met in Caracas to advance a roadmap on trade, energy, and security cooperation.
Officials announced Venezuela’s first export of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to Colombia, with PDVSA trucks crossing the Simón Bolívar International Bridge. The countries also confirmed plans to revive the 225-kilometer Antonio Ricaurte pipeline to enable Venezuelan natural gas exports.
According to figures shared during the summit, bilateral trade increased from $220 million in 2020 to more than $1.135 billion by the end of 2024. President Gustavo Petro said the pipeline interconnection will require repairs dependent on the lifting of US sanctions.
