🇷🇺April 12 — International Day of Human Space Flight 🇷🇺 🚀On April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first person to journey into outer space aboard Vostok-1. His mission lasted only 108 minutes, but it changed the course of history forever. 🔭The chief architect of the Soviet space program was the brilliant Soviet scientist Sergey Korolev. 👏After the first flight new achievements soon followed. In 1965, Alexei Leonov became the first person to conduct a spacewalk. Valentina Tereshkova became the first woman in space, proving that space is open to everyone. 🌠We should also remember the theorists without whom spaceflight would have been impossible. 🎉Today marks Russian Animation Day. 📽️On April 8, 1912, the first animated film in Russia premiered — «The Beautiful Leukanida» by W. 🇷🇺REGIONS OF RUSSIA🇷🇺 🎉On April 7, 1946, Kaliningrad Oblast was established. 🗺️The region lies on the shores of the Baltic Sea. Its mild maritime climate, sandy beaches and coniferous forests make it especially attractive at any time of the year. 🏰In the region different eras intertwine in a remarkable way: medieval castles, Gothic architecture, a German past and Soviet history all coexist within the same space. 👏The Curonian Spit with its sand dunes is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 🪎One of the defining features of the region is amber.
