⚡️Comment by Aide to the President Yury Ushakov following President Vladimir Putin’s videoconference with President of China Xi Jinping(February 4, 2026) Read in full 💬Yury Ushakov: Friends, I would like to brief you on the substantive negotiations between President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, held via videoconference. <...> The Leaders, in a friendly and trusting manner, summarised the outcomes of the past year and thoroughly discussed plans for the development of Russia-China relations in the current year. <...> Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping agreed that it is necessary to maintain permanent bilateral consultation mechanisms across all channels – the security councils, foreign ministries, and defence agencies – to complement their personal communication. This pertains to the swift alignment and coordination of approaches on current matters, including sensitive ones, to ensure timely responses to emerging challenges and threats. <...> Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping once again noted that the comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation between our two countries are at an unprecedented level, are based on equality and mutual benefit, are not directed against any third parties, and are not subject to short-term political considerations. <...> 📄 On July 16, Russia and China will mark an important date: the 25th anniversary of the Treaty of Good-Neighbourliness and Friendly Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China. This foundational document for international relations, which remains fully relevant and in tune with the spirit of the times, has been automatically extended for a further five-year period. During the conversation, President Xi Jinping invited Vladimir Putin to pay an official visit to China in the first half of this year. The invitation was accepted with gratitude, and the dates and details will be agreed separately. The Chinese Leader also invited the President of Russia to take part in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Meeting, to be held in November in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen. Russia supports the work of China’s APEC chairmanship, and our President will, of course, be ready to attend the meeting in Shenzhen. <...> 📈 The Leaders paid considerable attention to trade and economic cooperation. It was also mentioned that despite a minor decline due to a number of objective and subjective factors, bilateral trade has been considerably above $200 billion for three years in a row. It is common knowledge that China remains our leading foreign trade partner. <...> Regarding foreign policy issues, the President of Russia and the President of China emphasised the importance of Russian-Chinese cooperation at multilateral platforms, such as the #UN, the #SCO, #BRICS, #APEC and #G20. The Sides reaffirmed the common course for creating a just multilateral world order based on international law. Overall, Moscow and Beijing have been working in coordination with each other on the international stage. It was pointed out that the sides’ positions on the overwhelming majority of international issues are similar or fully coincide. Of course, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping also exchanged views on their countries’ relations with the US. Their approaches almost fully coincide, which is evident from their attitude to the US President’s initiative for creating the Board of Peace. Regarding the contacts our countries had with the Donald Trump administration — the Leaders believe that there is a window of opportunity in this regard. In particular, the President of China voiced his support for the ongoing talks in Abu Dhabi within the trilateral working group on security matters. <...> ☝️Cooperation between Moscow and Beijing operates as a powerful, constructive and stabilising factor in the world, while the Russia-China nexus effectively enhances global security, and benefits the Global Majority, as well as the people of both Russia and China. #RussiaChina

#RussiaChina 🇷🇺🇨🇳 On September 25, Sergey Lavrov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly. The Parties praised the development of political dialogue and practical cooperation between Russia and China amidst the highly turbulent international situation. Focus was placed on the implementation of agreements reached at the higher level, as well as the preparations for the BRICS summit in Kazan and new contacts between the two countries’ leaders. The Ministers stressed the importance of enhancing the two countries’ foreign policy coordination at international platforms, such as the #UN and its Security Council, #BRICS, #SCO, #APEC, #G20, and other formats. Sergey Lavrov and Wang Yi mentioned that Western countries’ illegitimate sanctions imposed in circumvention of UN Security Council resolutions are unacceptable as they undermine the stability of the global economy and universal forms of trade and economic cooperation. An in-depth discussion was held on global and Eurasian security, including settlement process for the Ukrainian crisis and measures to counter the West in escalating the situation in the Asia-Pacific region and around Taiwan, as well as on a number of other issues on the regional agenda. The conversation took place in the traditionally trust-based and constructive spirit typical of the Russian-Chinese strategic partnership. #UNGA79

🇷🇺🇨🇳 Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi hold talks on the sidelines of #ASEAN events 📍 Vientiane, July 25, 2024 #RussiaChina *** 🤝 The Officials praised efforts by Russia and China to promote their political dialogue and practical cooperation at a time when the international system has to grapple with a lot of turbulence and uncertainty. They paid special attention to reviewing progress on the agreements resulting from the May 2024 summit meeting in Beijing. The Ministers also discussed cooperation within ASEAN considering the fact that certain countries have become increasingly proactive in setting up restricted bloc-based military and political mechanisms, which are designed to undermine the ASEAN-centric security and stability framework for the Asia-Pacific Region. They praised the new Russia – China + ASEAN Chair format following the first meeting of this kind with Laos on July 25, and said that they hoped that developing this dialogue platform would help forge closer ties across the ASEAN space. 🌐 Sergey Lavrov and Wang Yi stressed the importance for Moscow and Beijing to step up their foreign policy coordination efforts at various international platforms, including the #UN, the #SCO, #APEC, the Group of Twenty and other formats. The Russian minister thanked China for supporting Russia’s #BRICS Chairmanship and reaffirmed Moscow’s readiness to assist Beijing as SCO President. The two Ministers went on to discuss ways to implement the concept of building a new security architecture for Eurasia. It has been put forward by Russia as a response to stagnating Euro-Atlantic mechanisms. Sergey Lavrov thanked his counterpart for China’s balanced and consistent position on the Ukraine crisis and welcomed Beijing’s initiatives to promote approaches taking into consideration the interests of all the stakeholders and addressing the causes at the root of this conflict. As usual, the conversation unfolded in a trust-based and constructive manner, which has become a hallmark of the Russia-China strategic partnership. http://tiny.cc/ttoazz #RussiaChina

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s video address to the 9th international conference "Russia and China: Cooperation in a New Era" (May 30, 2024) 💬 I am delighted to welcome the organisers of and participants in the 9th international conference "Russia and China: Cooperation in a New Era". Most recently, Russia's President Vladimir Putin paid a state visit to China, which definitely became the centerpiece of bilateral exchanges this year. <...> 🇷🇺🇨🇳 The bond of comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation between Russia and China has grown unprecedentedly strong thanks to the personal efforts of both heads of state. The Beijing summit sealed the two countries’ firm commitment to further deepen and expand it. This commitment was documented in the two leaders’ joint final statement. This year, Russia and China celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations. We mark this significant anniversary with achieving a new quality of relations – today, Russia and China view each other as priority partners and invariably adhere to the principles of mutually respectful, equal and trustful cooperation. We support each other with regard to key issues affecting the respective fundamental interests. <...> Strategic coordination in the international arena remains a key component of the Russian-Chinese partnership amid the growing international tensions. Our foreign policy tandem, held together by a broad commonality of interests as well as coinciding or similar approaches to key issues on the present-day agenda, plays a major stabilising role in global affairs. ☝️ The two countries are strengthening cooperation on multilateral platforms, primarily the Unite Nations and the UN Security Council, as well as #BRICS, #SCO, #G20, and #APEC. <...> The Russian-Chinese strategic tandem is gaining status, and this opens up new horizons for us in terms of stronger sovereignty, economic growth, and prosperity of both countries.
