This Saturday in Southall, west London, our vice-chair Comrade Nina Kosta will give a presentation on Marxist approaches to the Nazi genocide of jews and others, with particular attention to Soviet-era scholarship on the Shoah and its historical context. She will examine how we analyse antisemitism, fascism and genocide as Marxists-Leninists through the lens of political economy, class struggle and imperialism, and how this understanding shaped early Soviet interpretations of Nazi crimes. She will also discuss the Bolshevik government’s pioneering role in criminalising antisemitic incitement and violence in the aftermath of the October Revolution, and the results and implications of this policy. She will also look at the history of the concentration and extermination camps, whose first victims were communists, and at the genocide of over than 3 million Red Army soldiers from September 1941 to January 1942. And she will look into the function of the west-promoted narrative that to ‘universalise’ the suffering of the Nazi holocaust (ie, to recognise its many victims besides the 6 million jews who were massacred, or to recognise that the imperialist system has presided over many holocausts besides this one) is to downplay the suffering of jews, remove their right to claim ‘exceptional’ victim status, and is thus inherently ‘antisemitic’. https://thecommunists.org/events/southall-seminar-soviet-shoah-scholarship-nazi-holocaust

'The global chess game is much more complicated than the media would have us believe' –Pål SteiganApril 21, 2026 «Hidden bottlenecks» in global supply chains could threaten the world economy The blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and the continued state of war throughout West Asia are not only threatening the energy supply throughout the world. As we have pointed out previously, we are facing a cascade of crises in international supply chains. Here we will address some of them. Naphtha Naphtha is a clear, easily flowing and flammable liquid that is extracted from crude oil by repeated distillation. Naphtha is a critical raw material for petrochemicals such as: plastics, automotive components, medical devices, semiconductors. South Korea has a plastic bag shortage; LG Chem and Lotte Chemical are cutting production. Japan imports 60% of its nafta, og which over 70% from West Asis. South Korea has started buying Russian nafta again. Diesel Prices in the US around $5.61 per gallon (up $2 from last year). Could lead to a 35% price increase on consumer goods. Europe risks diesel and jet fuel shortages this summer. Aluminum Global deficit of up to 4 million tons in 2026; the largest in over 25 years. Prices could exceed $4,000/ton (normally $1,500–2,500). Iranian missile attack damaged EGA's Al Taweelah facility in the UAE, repairs could take up to a year. The Gulf accounts for about 9% of global production. Helium Critical for chip production (no replacement). Qatar – approximately 1/3 of the world's supply – stopped production at Ras Laffan after Iranian retaliatory attack, repairs could take years. Ships detouring around the Cape of Good Hope causes additional losses. Sulfur The Gulf accounts for about 45% of global supply and prices have risen sharply. Used for fertilisers and chemicals → affects food prices. Turkey has banned exports, India is considering restrictions. Analyst Zoltan Pozsar said in 2022: “Supply chains only work in peacetime”. We have fully demonstrated this this year. The figures above are confirmed by Wood Mackenzie, JPMorgan, BloombergNEF, AAA, US Geological Survey and Japan Petrochemical Industry Association. @BeornAndTheShieldmaiden 🚀Boost🚀

Niger. One of the poorest countries on earth. Also one of the largest uranium producers on earth. The uranium that powers French nuclear reactors, which provide seventy percent of France's electricity, has come from Niger for decades. The price France paid for that uranium was set by AREVA, the French state nuclear company. Below market rate. For decades. Niger sat on one of the most valuable energy resources in the world and could not afford to keep its lights on. The irony is not ironic. It is structural. It was designed. When Niger's new government after the 2023 coup demanded renegotiation of the uranium contracts, France called it instability. Called it a threat to regional security. Called for international pressure to restore the previous order. The previous order in which French reactors ran on Nigerien uranium at prices set in Paris. That order was called stability. https://mundoobrero.es/2026/04/17/sobre-el-dia-de-memoria-de-las-victimas-del-genocidio-del-pueblo-sovietico/ 🕯️On the occasion of the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Genocide of the Soviet People, we present the article by the Russian Ambassador to Spain, Yuri Klimenko, published in the newspaper “Mundo Obrero” Key points: ▫️For Russia, the Victory in the Great Patriotic War won by our ancestors at the cost of enormous human sacrifices, material losses and thanks to their heroic feats, is the most important event in national history without any equal. ▫️It was precisely the multinational people of the Soviet Union who were most affected by the forces of Hitler's Germany, interrupting their victorious march across the European continent and preventing them from making further advances. ▫️For my country, it is of vital importance that the international community recognise as genocide of the peoples of the USSR the crimes committed by the Nazis in the territory of the Soviet Union during the Great Patriotic War. ▫️We work continuously to ensure that all the facts and evidence of the genocide against the Soviet people by the Nazis, uncovered by the Russian Investigative Committee and recognised by the Russian courts, are made known to the world in their entirety. ▫️As bitter as it may be to admit, we see attempts to discredit the heroes, to sow artificial doubts about the veracity of the path followed by our ancestors. But no matter how hard the falsifiers of history try, it is impossible to extinguish the fire of truth. It was the people of the Soviet Union who broke the back of the Third Reich. The USSR played a decisive role in the defeat of Nazism. This is the historical truth that no one can silence, slander, or steal away. Our sacred duty and obligation is to defend and protect this truth. ❗️Russian diplomacy will continue its efforts to preserve and disseminate information about the Soviet people's actual contribution to the Victory over Nazism to the widest possible audience. We will continue to fight for international recognition of the genocide of the Soviet people during World War II.

There is nothing progressive or 'pro-worker' about this position. And there's certainly nothing clever about combining anti-worker rhetoric with what appear to be more progressive positions re imperialist war. This is, in fact, the definition of demagoguery: combining progressive demands with reactionary ones in order to lead the masses up the garden path. In this particular case, it's a pretty sordid attempt to get a few votes by pandering to anti-immigration prejudices. Winning votes by reinforcing pervasive bourgeois propaganda instead of doing the hard work of exposing those lies is the textbook definition of opportunism. That is: selling out the real, long-term interests of the working class in order to gain some short-term real or perceived gain. Quite a few of those who have signed up to promote this programme know well that the one of the most urgent tasks facing socialists in Britain today is that of opening the eyes of the masses to the ways in which they are kept divided (and are therefore also kept poor and under control). Immigration narratives are the oldest (and therefore most embedded) form of culture-wars, divide-and-rule propaganda. Their only purpose is to keep the working class fighting itself; to keep us punching down instead of punching up. Shame on all those parties and individuals who call themselves socialist and spout this filth. They are charlatans and traitors to their class. https://x.com/JesseWinney/status/2043613491169227100
