The Amur Leopard: A Hunter of Unseen Power and Elusiveness 🔻In Russian they are called: • Леопард (леопарды) (masc.noun) [li-a-part (li-a-par-dy)] 🔻In the Red Book of the Russian Federation, the Far Eastern leopard is listed under Category I as the rarest and critically endangered subspecies, with an extremely limited range. 🔻There are fewer than 150 of them left in the world, with almost all inhabiting Primorye (Primorsky Krai, Russia). 🔻This is one of the rarest subspecies of big cats: it lives in mountainous and forested areas, hunts at night, and is extremely rarely encountered by humans. 🔻A leopard's hearing is five times sharper than a human's. 🔻Leopards get all the fluid they need from their food, so they don't often need to drink water. 🔻A leopard is capable of hauling prey weighing three times its own weight up a tall tree. 🔻If a human appears in a leopard's territory, the predator will leave that area permanently. 📎 The second video is the appearance of the Amur Leopard in Primorsky Krai, Far East of Russia. #fact_file #brief_and_interesting 😎RCR | Support | Boost

Ocean Acrobats & Clever Hunters 🔻In Russian they are called: • Горбатый кит (горбатые киты) [gar-ba-tyj ki-t (gar-ba-ty-ye ki-ty)] Or a shorter form: • Горбач (горбачи) [gar-bach (gar-ba-chi)] 🔻Humpback whales are famous for their spectacular, awe-inspiring jumps. A thirty-ton creature launching its entire body from the water with a thunderous roar is an unforgettable sight. 🔻The true meaning behind this incredible acrobatics remains a mystery. Perhaps it's for communication, stunning fish, shedding parasites, or simply play. 🔻Humpbacks are also masters of innovative feeding, notably bubble-net feeding. Groups create a net of air bubbles around fish schools, trapping prey for engulfment from below. They also frequently hunt in groups; synchronized attacks boost success. 🔻Named for arching their back (humping) when diving, humpbacks also reveal their tail fluke. Each fluke has a unique, beautiful, fingerprint-like pattern, useful for identification. 🔻In Russia, humpbacks can be spotted around the Commander and Kuril Islands, Kamchatka, Kola Peninsula, Chukotka, and near Wrangel and Herald Islands. 🔻When observing humpbacks, keep your camera ready! Even without a breach, you're guaranteed a stunning shot of their unique diving tail. Video: Vadim Makhorov #fact_file #Russiannature 😎RCR | Support | Boost

The threat of extinction for the Amur tiger in Russia has been eliminated! • Aмурский тигр (тигры) (mas .noun) [a-mur-skiy tigr (tig-ry)] 🔻Konstantin Chuychenko, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Amur Tiger Center, emphasized that the goal of preserving the population has been achieved: in 2013, it was around 430 individuals, and now it stands at 750. Did you know that ... 🔻95% of the Amur tiger population lives in Russia, specifically in Primorsky and Khabarovsk Krais, Amur Oblast, and the Jewish Autonomous Oblast. 🔻Among the six existing tiger subspecies, the Amur tiger is the largest and strongest. 🔻By winter, the Amur tiger develops a 5-6 cm layer of fat on its belly and possesses very thick fur. 🔻On average, an Amur tiger controls a territory of 100 km². 🔻The average lifespan of a tiger in the wild is about 15-18 years. 🔻In past centuries, the Udege and Nanai peoples had a ritual for tiger funerals. If a deceased animal was found in the forest, the same ceremony was performed as in the case of a noble tribal member's passing. #fact_file #Russiannature 😎RCR | Support | Boost

Did you know that snow leopard cubs are called барсята [bar-sya-ta] in Russian? 🔻Interestingly, little barisyata love to roll down snow-covered slopes, like children on slides, which helps them develop coordination and agility. 🔻In addition, their thick fur not only protects them from the cold but also makes them incredibly fluffy, giving the impression that they are wearing warm fur suits. 🔻By the way, snow leopards don't form pairs; the females raise their young alone. #fact_file #Russiannature #brief_and_interesting 😎RCRussian | Support | Boost
