On World Habitat Day, Venezuelan grassroots movements protested rising illegal evictions in Caracas. Coordinated by the Pobladores Movement, activists called for government action against increasing pressure from real estate interests. Rafael Ramírez Colina, the opposition mayor of Maracaibo, was arrested by SEBIN on corruption charges. Two top aides were also detained. The Venezuelan Attorney General confirmed that the arrests are part of ongoing efforts to audit public offices.
