ODRA Platform. Stay tuned!

</odra> continues to shine a light on new names in contemporary art. We have reviewed the photographs by Galya Budagova, a Russian up-and-coming artist, who has recently won an award in photography from the A-list society of American art and is also a winner of the Hungarian Contemporary Art Prize. In her photographs, Galya delves deep into the realms of nostalgia, friendship and intimacy. Her approach is introspective, as if in a photographic diary. She often employs compact cameras and unconventional angles, photographing with minimal distance between herself and her subjects. Her works serve as both observations of the world around her and interpretations of what she observes. explore

Video Games: The Youngest Art essay by Erik Ilmuratov “Games as an interactive medium and artistic method are used in contemporary art works.[...]The exhibition space can be designed as resembling a video game, like the GARAGE Museum of Contemporary Art and Novoe Architecture Bureau did at the exhibition ‘Assuming Distance: Speculations, Fakes, and Predictions in the Age of the Coronacene’ in 2021. The viewers were invited to follow a route along special trails and a floor surface that was made of luminous squares and connected the museum halls. The very process of exploring the exhibition space was transformed into a gamified process reminiscent of arcade video games, questionnaires and scanwords.” 🔗read the full essay on </odra> platform

New essay on </odra> by Kate Reeve-Edwards exploring the inspiration and meaning behind the works of Katya Granova, a Russian contemporary artist who has recently had an exhibition titled Voices From A Suitcase at the Shtager&Shch Gallery in London. In her practice, she uses old photographs as a composition for large scale visceral paintings in an attempt to infiltrate the past and reimagine the concept of historical memory. "She is thinking about time, treating images of her mother or a stranger in exactly the same way. They are both vessels of past occurrences that haunt the present. She is listening to the voices in her suitcase, plucking them out and layering them on her canvas. Through this cacophony of mark and opinion, Granova can see the truth of experience." read on the platform

</odra> found out about the punk site-specific project by Russian artists on the Children's railroad in Yerevan. Arnold Veber, Artyom Go, Daria Hoffman, Roman Karman, Maresiy Ivaschenko, Egor Kirillov, German Orekhov and Igor Samolet took an unofficial walk through the tunnel and everyone was invited to join. Though one should keep in mind that it is not a pleasant summer stroll, but a journey into a horrible past. The starting points for the journey were two dates: 1937 and 1956. read more and explore art works on the platform
