--- > Among them are Irina Nakhova, ŽEN d’Art exhibition at Moscow Museum of Contemporary Art in 2010, Cyberfemin Club and Factory of Found Clothes (FFC), and the artists whose recent work is about female corporeal representation: Nastya Serge, Anna Fromm, Aleksandra Povelikina, Alice Danelian and Daria Kuznetsova. Pic: Daria Kuznetsova touches on the theme of fragility. In her series of photographs Kvity, she pithily depicts body marks as flowers. In contrast to their innocent form, they can look like scars or bruises and allude to violence. In addition, this project might be viewed through the lens of performative concept of gender by Judith Batler, who further amplified Simone de Beauvoir’s statement 'One is not born, but rather becomes a woman.' Does it mean that these scars and bruises metaphorically form a woman? read an essay

On October 30, the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions, ODRA publishes an essay by photographer Denis Zeziukin, who explored and captured the ghost road that once led to the Gulag. He traveled to his homeland in a remote region of Russia, where he found traces and evidence of the past that invariably accompanies us in the present. Denis' photographs are documentation of the expedition and traces of historical memory that cannot be erased, his photographs depict harsh conditions in which people survived, the pictures give a sense of abandonment and forgetfulness, redefining the past and looking to the future. <go to the platform>

#новоеинтервью Utopia. This is a title of the artwork that was made by Yumiko Ono in 2018. It consists of 196 abstract objects made out of porcelain. 196 is a number of countries, which exist in the world. Having the same weights and different shapes, the aim of the work is to create the world without any power balance. Art journalist Natalia Borisova had talked to Japanese artist Yumiko Ono (USA/Japan) who finished an art residency at the Center for Creative Industries “Fabrika” @cci_fabrika in Moscow. We continue to believe that it is important to support local art initiatives, and hope that international residency will continue to host artists. Read about Yumiko's experience on the platform.

We believe it is important to continue supporting artists as their long-time efforts should not fade into obscurity amid the horrendous turn of events in Ukraine and Russia. ODRA founder Katya Ceppel has interviewed Valery Chtak, who has recently been recognized as the artist of the year by the Cosmoscow art fair. As a true rock star of Russia’s contemporary art, Chtak tells it like it is about the elusive nature of his own popularity, why he finds Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera mediocre and whether conceptual art needs constant clarification. 'About Russians. You know, Italians were a little bit taken aback when they were on a Russian bus, ‘Why is it so quiet and no one talks?’ But people do talk, they're just used to saying words quietly so that other people wouldn’t hear. So it's a culture of a slightly different attitude toward text.'
